ooh it's a corner Posted 26 April, 2012 Share Posted 26 April, 2012 Why , if they were so strapped for cash, wasn't Primus made redundant earlier. How essential is a club ambassador? I agree. If I were a creditor I would be challenging Birch this morning. His job is to try to make the club a going concern moving forward. He has announced that relegation will only cost the club £1.2m, and yet he clearly made efforts to keep some of the better players on the books during the January transfer window. With this second traunch of redundancies, he's also admitting that he didnt cut staff "back to the bone" when he announced the first set of redundancies. He bloody well should have done. I cannot believe the cost of an ambassador, or club photographer, or an additional coach, or any of the other 7 souls who will lose their job at the end of this month, outweighed the income they were likely to bring in to Portsmouth. Therefore these jobs should have been cullled earlier. I also find no sympathy in the argument that "we're now speaking with the PFA to discuss player contracts". It's too late, you should have done this on day two. You, Mr Birch, are guilty of "hoping" for a Knight on a white steed. You have gambled with other peoples' money and that is a pretty poor show for a qualified practitioner. I wonder how much more my Southern Electric bill will be this year because you didn't make the hard decisions you needed to several months ago. How much electricity has this organisation consumed since then? And I've got to pay for it. Along with every other customer. No sympathy for the club, and no sympathy for the fans. I only hope the players dig their heels in and push the rule book back to the FL and demand their contracts are honoured.
FloridaMarlin Posted 26 April, 2012 Share Posted 26 April, 2012 Why , if they were so strapped for cash, wasn't Primus made redundant earlier. How essential is a club ambassador? Very necessary, especially when you have to shove a decent, god-fearing Christian who very few people in the game have a bad word for, up front as the acceptable face of the club. Ken Tone Posted 26 April, 2012 Share Posted 26 April, 2012 Why , if they were so strapped for cash, wasn't Primus made redundant earlier. How essential is a club ambassador? Quite. He was moved to a part-time contract earlier apparenly, but why was he needed at all? He seems a decent bloke, but let's face it the post was really only a retirement present. Unless by keeping him as an employee they made it impossible for him to complain about his charity not getting the money PFC took on its behalf and did not pass on? If the administrator can't explain why these costs were essential to the daily running of the club then the costs (plus any others similarly identified) should come out of his company's fee and be added to the creditor pot. Ken Tone Posted 26 April, 2012 Share Posted 26 April, 2012 going out in a mo, returning later to plough through 10 pages of thread no doubt. Predictions for today - Some random pikey will announce that the situation is worse than they thought. UnAppy will put on a brave face while his agent organises a move as his staff are removed from around him. Birch will put on his serious face and appeal for a new owner, perhaps adding a new deadline. Trousers will come up with a ridiculous farm animal-themed excuse for not going to work. A toothless simpleton will appear on Sky saying that the club will never die and that they are the bestest in the world. Ben Haim will lie on a beach faraway, sipping cool drinks. Peter Storrie will prepare yet another press statement deflecting the blame. The FL will act all concerned, in public. Another charity-shafting will be confirmed. Nothing will change. It's like someone telling you the score before you watch a recording of a match -- ruined the day for me
