Pompey Takeover Saga

Why , if they were so strapped for cash, wasn't Primus made redundant earlier. How essential is a club ambassador?

I agree. If I were a creditor I would be challenging Birch this morning. His job is to try to make the club a going concern moving forward. He has announced that relegation will only cost the club £1.2m, and yet he clearly made efforts to keep some of the better players on the books during the January transfer window.

With this second traunch of redundancies, he's also admitting that he didnt cut staff "back to the bone" when he announced the first set of redundancies. He bloody well should have done.

I cannot believe the cost of an ambassador, or club photographer, or an additional coach, or any of the other 7 souls who will lose their job at the end of this month, outweighed the income they were likely to bring in to Portsmouth. Therefore these jobs should have been cullled earlier.

I also find no sympathy in the argument that "we're now speaking with the PFA to discuss player contracts". It's too late, you should have done this on day two.

You, Mr Birch, are guilty of "hoping" for a Knight on a white steed. You have gambled with other peoples' money and that is a pretty poor show for a qualified practitioner.

I wonder how much more my Southern Electric bill will be this year because you didn't make the hard decisions you needed to several months ago. How much electricity has this organisation consumed since then?

And I've got to pay for it. Along with every other customer.

No sympathy for the club, and no sympathy for the fans.

I only hope the players dig their heels in and push the rule book back to the FL and demand their contracts are honoured.

Very necessary, especially when you have to shove a decent, god-fearing Christian who very few people in the game have a bad word for, up front as the acceptable face of the club.

Quite. He was moved to a part-time contract earlier apparenly, but why was he needed at all? He seems a decent bloke, but let's face it the post was really only a retirement present.

Unless by keeping him as an employee they made it impossible for him to complain about his charity not getting the money PFC took on its behalf and did not pass on?

@pn_neil_allen Paid for a wall of fame plaque in Dec10 for South Stand no sign of it! Can't get any answers-only £50 but was a pressie #:o(

Blimey! Is there no end to their abuse of trust? Even fans paying for a plaque were cheated!

The plaque that I'm looking forward to seeing, is the one at the entrance of the new Fratton Tesco Superstore. The one that will read "On this site stood the stadium of Portsmouth Football Club, 1898 - 2012."

Good and relevant post. If the administrator can't explain why these costs were essential to the daily running of the club then the costs (plus any others similarly identified) should come out of his company's fee and be added to the creditor pot.

If their fans had enough teeth between them then maybe they could have a plaque collection? :scared:

going out in a mo, returning later to plough through 10 pages of thread no doubt. :?

Predictions for today -

Some random pikey will announce that the situation is worse than they thought.

UnAppy will put on a brave face while his agent organises a move as his staff are removed from around him.

Birch will put on his serious face and appeal for a new owner, perhaps adding a new deadline.

Trousers will come up with a ridiculous farm animal-themed excuse for not going to work.

A toothless simpleton will appear on Sky saying that the club will never die and that they are the bestest in the world.

Ben Haim will lie on a beach faraway, sipping cool drinks.

Peter Storrie will prepare yet another press statement deflecting the blame.

The FL will act all concerned, in public.

Another charity-shafting will be confirmed.

Nothing will change.

It's like someone telling you the score before you watch a recording of a match -- ruined the day for me ;)

@pn_neil_allen: First arrivals at the creditors' meeting - UHY Hacker Young. No AA but Kubik and Mulgrew. #Pompey #pcm2012

No AA? Boo! Hiss!

I don't suppose they have bought a very big cake with them? Always one for the surprise entrance AA.

Does anyone know what happens today, if the creditors dont vote in favour of Mr Birch's proposals?

Does he get the chance to go away and do it again, or does he offer liquidation as the alternative?

what relevance is the 10 week deadline for this meeting? (Which I believe expires tomorrow). If he has to go away and do it again, does he only have 24 hours to save the world?

I cant believe that other creditors come out at over 3m. Didnt they do credit checks before supplying goods and services!!!! I wondered all along why the caterers etc still were supplying stuff, i assumed that they were cash on delivery but apparently not.

No bids on the table, still trying to keep (interested parties) at the table...... doesn't sound like a "50/50" chance to me!

50/50 with no offer on the table?

Blimey, I've put offers in on houses that have taken more than 3 months to complete. If you haven't got an offer on the table yet sunshine, then I would suggest the odds of having a new owner in before the start of next season (or June 2nd) are closer to zero.

(mind you we already knew that didnt we?)

So in other words 'they are just tyre kickers but I'm trying to stop them walking away because then I would have to admit I have no interested parties at all.'

pn_Rory_McKeown: Chainrai's team say former owner won't see club liquidated. #pcm2012 [via Twitter]

If this is the case would Chainrai have to bid on the club like anyone else or does his position allow him any other route?

yep but chinneys team saying they wont let the club be liquidated.... so he wuld have to 'bid' whatever the liquidation sale would raise + to satisfy creditors?.... so can we see a situation where Chinney in effct takes 100% again after paying the creditors off at 20p - getting 100% for around 7 or 8 mil?
