Greg Halford ‏ @GregHalford15

So pipe down and enjoy relegation tomorrow.

bit different to the dignified response Billy Sharp gave to the disgusting abuse he received about his son's death on twitter.

no class, just like his club

With an annual wage bill of £21m, they need to off-load as many players as possible even if it's offering the likes of Kitson on a free. Only a few players are good enough to get a fee, even then teams rarely buy early to incur the June salary. It's a long long shot and we'll see if Chanrai thinks he can get more as a club than a liquidated asset.

Also I think the next PP is August (not 100% sure) and would be around £4m, but of course there are some football related bills to pay.

It's not that straightforward. They have to get someone to buy Kitson (or take him on a 'free') and, even if that happens, the chances are that they won't be offering crazy Pompey wages, so he'll either a) ask for a pay off for the difference for the remainder of his contract or b) give up that cash.

My money would be on b) not even being recognised as an option for most footballers, let alone someone who has only been attracted to Pompey for the money in the first place.

Maybe their saving grace will be that some players won't want to play in L1...maybe.....

Feeling a little guilty for whooping and hollering at news of their demise yesterday.

To redress the balance I am posting this little vid as a way of expressing that little corner of sorrow that I feel to each and every Pompey fan that I know personally, not really a bad one amongst them (well maybe one).

It's a bit visionary as it depicts the administrator closing the books and a lone fan walking through what used to be fratton park, that great monument to pre-war football.

Enjoy:[video=youtube_share;4F9DxYhqmKw]

Apt title, anyone know when Pt 2 is coming out?

The pseudo sequel was called Mea Culpa (My Fault) and came out in 1991

Kicking off on POL, the good man TBH left the pitch and refused to come back out with the team and applaud the phew... £36k PW an he mugs the skates off PMSL

they are talking of hounding him out of fratton by whatever means, forgetting that that would all but end any remote chance of a golden share.

A skate pointed out he will have taken £7.5m out of the club through his contract and questioned whether TBH has taken more money out of pompey than the good man Chainrai...

I Love that angle!

God bless Tal Ben Haim

When do contracts offically end and when does the transfer window open again. In other words, when can they reduce the wage bill even more and also actually sell players to raise funds (if there's any takers). I thought it was June 30th which is later than the FL AGM.

End of season, which in Pompey's case was yesterday . I assume that means when all clubs in the association have completed all their fixtures so when all divisions are done and dusted.

Something that is mysterious, puzzling, or difficult to understand.

Bit like life really.

A bit like why have the DFSCB not been liquidated yet. Or am I just being a little premature?

but with yesterday's excellent results putting the skates down it does appear that the scales of justice are starting to tip there way!

so as expected they went and got themselves relegated while I was away - typical.

It was fun to watch though, in the surrounds of my lovely executive suite in one of Middlesbrough's finest hotels.

The reviews said it was 'tired' - turned out to be fricking exhausted.

I loved the 80's first time round, but I didn't want to stay in it again.

Nice picture of The Queen up on the wall at breakfast, the stockiest TV I've seen since Avram pushed the boat out at Horton Heath, and wiring in my room that looked like it was in an opening scene from London's Burning.

But as for our friends to the east.

Never mind, at least the future looks Rosey, :scared: which reminds me, one of their main abusers was always telling us it would be fine.

Where for art thou Toyman?

Can we only expect a Ho return if our first year in the Championship ends in the dismal shame of finishing third?

As David Steel once famously said 'go back to your caravans and prepare for liquidation!'

Byebye pompey, I'd like to say it's been nice but it hasn't.

Should the club fold I'll feel sorry for approx 10% of the fanbase.

The rest have been spouting crap for years and deserve no sympathy.

I suspect that there is some 'life' in them yet, they will hang around embarrassisngly, not so much lik a heavy fart, but like 80s ITV comics and the baldy magician who ****s his assistant - unwelcome when they were actually popular but had somehow blinded the masses to their total utter lack of talent, even worse when dragged out in some pitiful fit of nostalgia.

The saddest part thjough will be the sad end to this thread - somehow, rallyboy, you manage to capture the very essence of all that is completely fricken hilarious about what has to be the saddest club in Football history... such material will not be seen again.

Well, as they departed this mortal coil, I was standing on a table in Munich singing in fluent Portugese.

Seemed to be the right thing to do at the time and the perfect song.

In fact, I was joined by some WHU & Spud fans in the celebrations of their demise.

Here is the Video we took. You'll see me at around 3:51 & the lads on the stag weekend dotted throughout.

Probably earns more on his own than some whole L1 squads!

Ben Haim seriously will be earning around 10-12 times the average wage in L1, so it really is possible that one of the smaller clubs will put out an entire team against PFC next year (maybe even including subs) that will be costing less than Ben Haim on his own.

They still don't get it do they, some stupid fish wife on Solent said it was unfare of the Football League to deduct ten points and make us let our better players go to have enough money to end the season.
And SOLENTS east hampshire reporter, spouting the same bile. It makes you wonder if they think the rules dont apply to them plucky poopey[sic] FFS!!!

Never mind the players, surely as soonn as the playing season ends , for them, (forget the play-offs) Birch ought to sack most/all of the backroom staff that work woth the team? How can he justify paying Appleton, let alone all the others such as the famously overpaid kitman, when they have no games to play? If/when they get a buyer, then the new owner can employ a new manager to start buying replacement players. Till then, Appleton etc are just a drain on the creditors' money. Certainly if I were a creditor, I'd query this.

Dont worry about feeling guilty. Really enjoyed saturday. Great atmoshpere, laughs all around and some really funny songs. If we get to play in League 1, really looking forward to it.

Would prefer to be in championship or Prem obviously but this feels somehow cleansing. Strange, but nice.

You are presuming someone will want to buy said players, matching their current extortionate salaries; or that the players will take a pay cut and agree to go.

Why wouldn't they take a pay cut? What confidence can they possibly have of Pompey honoring their existing contract?

Now you are getting there. It won't be that easy getting out - there are a fair few half decent teams in League One. But it will be fun, the quality of football is surprisingly good and you just might make a clean start with Appy and a bunch of decent young pros & do okay. I almost envy you.

Danbert - as long as there is enough cash due from the Premier League in parachute payments, the players will get what they're owed. They are more certain than anyone else, even the administrators, of getting their cash because the PL will pay them directly (before the money goes anywhere near the club) if needs be.

I take your point, but if they've already deferred a substantial amount even their status as preferred creditors might not be enough. Also, if the club's going tits up over the summer anyway they won't be lose out by agreeing to leave. Clearly the club can't continue in League 1 paying Ben Haim et al.

It seems to me that the players are faced with a choice between 1) negotiating a transfer whilst still in Pompey's employ and 2) seeing the club cease trading leaving them without a contract. Given that, there's surely no real reason for the high earners to stay on as, if sold, they're not going to command a fee which would impact on their earning power at their new club.

Thats a very cute and brave face you are putting on there but the hangover will kick in eventually... as you say if we get there!

Sub 10k gates at fratton whilst you get stuffed by Stevenage and Yeovil at home before a mid-week visit to Carlise with your travelling army of about 30 skates (going by the 50-150 you were tkaing up north in the prem in 2010).

IF the trust can raise about £30m, just to guarantee the league you can cover the guaranteed £14m contractual obligations to the likes of TBH and the other Saints legends...

Nope, it dont add up, and as the good man Chainrai said "My position is secured, I will get my money back"

Moneyfields for you...

I can't see them having the same players in L1.

I expect that come the end of the season, either no buyer will be found and the club will be liquidated or, if a buyer can be found the players will be given the option of:

1) agree to tear up the exisiting contracts and allow a new purchaser to take over, with the club retaining what (if anything) is left of the parachute payments

2) agree to tear up the exisiting contracts and allow a new purchaser to take over, but only on the condition that the players split what (if anything), is left of the parachute payments

3) refuse to tear up contracts, killing off the potential of any sale and then fighting over what (if anything), is left of the parachute payments as part of the liquidation process.

I guess we are about to find out how much the players really do "love the club".

Well saints legend Tal Ben Haim dislikes the skates so much he refused to come out and applaud the fans after taking them down on the pitch, if they wanted gratitude they should have bunged £72k PW in his direction minimum!

it was just another January gamble that failed - we knew their luck would run out eventually.

Hang on to a few players that should have been moved on, bring in loans that DID cost money, continue to ignore the debt, and try to dodge the relegation bullet.

But Rallyboy you smug nutjob, the players refused to go...

Okay, well let's bury the myth that they are plucky heroes who stood firm, let's point out that they are in fact greedy moneygrabbers who took out wads of filthy cash stolen from charities and used them as hammers to bang nails into the club coffin.

Pearce and friends have bled the carcass dry, yet the bestest few still love them, because that's the PR version that suits.

Loyal players, Appy's troops, packing the park, fortress fratton, best fans in the world....stuff of fantasy.

It was meek surrender to poor teams in front of empty seats with fat blocking the pipes and Birch clutching a lottery ticket.

If it is the points penalty that saw them off and not the suicidal transfer policy, then this must be their first genuine punishment for a decade of irregularity.

But they should have been good enough to overcome that.

pompey must have several players in the top ten wage earners in the division - the return on investment has been woeful.

We've been banging on for years - they said they would stay up in the Prem, we told them it wasn't enough if you are running on Champion's League wages.

They said Cotts would keep them up last year, we pointed out the requirement on that budget was not to stay up, but to GO up.

As for the current manager who inherited Q over Q - UnAppy knew the situation, he's an idiot if he didn't, and I believe there is more honesty to him than Cotterill, but he failed to motivate an expensive squad.

Home defeats to Millwall and Derby when the stakes are so high?...:?

Like the previously heralded football geniuses Grant and Clotts, I don't think Mr Appy delivered - he was the cheap option and he's used pompey to make his mistakes.

The idiotboy Cotterill has just rubbed it in by only finding some form when he went to Forest.

So ignoring the heavily-pregnant herd of liquidation elephants in the room for one moment, I can see pompey getting out of League 1 first go......especially when the next penalty kicks in....:)

As a Romsey lad, I resent that dig at my hometown club.

Romsey Town have a long (longer than Pompey} and proud (never been in administration) history.

Romsey can boast a couple of good Millbrook lads in their past ranks. John Bailey and Rick Haysom.

Some think Poorsmouth will not get a new owner, even in L1. Quote from a football finance expert on solent this morning. Saying no one was interested in buying a club with a large debt base who could'nt control their finances in the Championship, their going be even less interested for the same club in L1!! If thats the case, just like the DoDo. Poopey will cease to exsist!!! WTFILN :D
