Pompey Takeover Saga

They have been trying to sell the club (as a Championship club) since CSI went into admin last November and they havn't had a sniff of a serious buyer. Now as a League 1 club they havn't got a hope in hell of someone buying them.

The numbers didn't add up in the championship - it is worse now, it is simply not a business. The idea that the fans can club together and make it sustainable is just pie in the sky.

Time for the administrator to do what he is legally obliged to do and liquidate.

Our joking aside, how can the club survive now? Absolutely no revenue from now on... Southern Electric will demand a security deposit if they haven't already, nobody will extend _any_ credit, the training ground will be even more dependent on cash or pre-payment, any decent apprentices will already have been contacted by Saints. Have I missed a liquidation sweepstake as I'd like to choose one of the earlier time slots....

They have enough money to see them through until the end of May, largely due to the loan fees (and saving of wages) they received for Huseklupp, Lawrence, Henderson and Mullins. On 2nd June they will have to prove at the Football League AGM that they can fund the 2012/13 season, if not they won't be allowed to play in League One.

Sell the players already on loans & sell Pearce, Halford, Ward, Rocha, varney + Norris

You are presuming someone will want to buy said players, matching their current extortionate salaries; or that the players will take a pay cut and agree to go.

IMO, that money would be better used to pay the schools and charities.

They will not find a buyer, they will be liquidated,

Do it NOW Mr Birch; waiting is delaying the inevitable and wasting money which should go to creditors. But I suppose it is increasing your own bill!!!!!!

With an annual wage bill of £21m, they need to off-load as many players as possible even if it's offering the likes of Kitson on a free. Only a few players are good enough to get a fee, even then teams rarely buy early to incur the June salary. It's a long long shot and we'll see if Chanrai thinks he can get more as a club than a liquidated asset.

Also I think the next PP is August (not 100% sure) and would be around £4m, but of course there are some football related bills to pay.

Not sure, but didn't TB say that Gaydemak is owed the next few parachute payments? If so, when is the next payment that the club will receive?

According to TB's statement of affairs, the next PP owed to the club will be the 22nd of Never!

Since he's not included any income from PPs in his SoA, pretty sure he's discovered that every last penny is already accounted for to pay for something or other....

.. or the fact that some clubs will gamble that shortly the said players will be available for no fee and probably willing to take a lower salary..

Plus, as pointed out, nobody rushes to sign anybody now anyway, even if quiet little promises might be made.

He can expect a call from the FA. Wonder if he's getting paid enough of his wages to respond to the fine!

******** anyway I might point out - Wolves have a very decent history, Stan Cullis etc.

May be a simple question but why can't Pompey sack all their players? Clearly they have failed to perform this year because they've been relegated. A normal company would have had them all on final written warnings by now. See no reason why employment law shouldn't apply to footballers - its not like they have any value in the transfer market so they're liabilities, not assets.

Employment law does apply to footballers, so legally they can sack them. However the football creditors rule means that they'd then lose their golden share and be ejected from the football league.
