Pompey Takeover Saga

This posted today on the Pompey Messageboard:

Some VERY Interesting Rumours that I have just heard -

1) Administration is inevitable, but the club are holding off until after the transfer window when they will have hopefully recouped millions in transfer fees. If the team is still in with a shout of avoiding relegation, then they will hold on again until the next lot of TV money is due. The way the club is continually borrowing money just to pay the daily bills means that the debt is ever increasing and there is no way admin can be avoided, unless a sugar daddy comes in.

2) Storrie is allegedely still in control via SG and his old man and is on a "commission" if SG gets back what he is owed.

3) 75% of what SG is owed is interest

4) Al Faraj is purely a financier and has just loaned the club funds thus far, much like Chanrai. He is not the owner.

5) The whole financing of the club is a glorified pyramid scheme.

6) On the footballing side of things, Utaka and Grant had a ruck last week in training. Utaka is refusing to train citing injuries week after week. Grant told him a few home truths. The club have tried to sell him during the past 2 transfer windows but he is refusing to take a penny less than what his contract states.

Remember Winston Bogarde at Chelsea a few years back ? Utaka is the same.

Seems to fit?

It's funny how times change. I remember as a kid growing up in the early seventies, reading on more than one occasion in the national press how Fratton Park was described as one the best grounds outside the top flight! Laughable now, but it just goes to show how most other clubs have upped their game in the decades since, and Pompey er, haven't :(

You speak some truth, 36,000 capacity I believe, although rarely more than a third full but a decent ground for your long awaited, much anticipated return to England's top flight in '87 - the giant was awoken. Oh, you only half filled it that season.

Haha, Indeed

Out of interest, what was so bad in the 1989/90 season that resulted in an average attendance of a massive 5,395?

Seems the "normal" employees at PFC were paid on Sunday night. Pompey have of course absolved themselves of any blame whatsoever saying that there was an error with the file that was lodged with the bank, and that they'd reimburse any employee who experienced any knock-on effects as a result.

One amusing comment on Pompey Online:

I presume this will require a short-term loan?

Yeah, sentenced to six years in jail in absentia by a French court as this article shows and indicted for money laundering by Israel as this article shows. There is evidence that his son was up to his nuts in money laundering, as well, from this article.

The fit and proper persons test that is used by the Premier League really is a joke.

Three very good articles to read.

They want daddy to go back for the money laundering trial next month, but he claims "ill health".

So many court cases it is hard to keep up :-

20 Jan Storrieteller Tax Evasion - Southwark Crown Court

10 Feb HMRC winding up order - High Court

xx Feb Money Laundering charge for "daddy" - Israel

How ironic that the money used to buy African players for Portsmouth Football Club was made from the proceeds of arms sales to the same continent and in particular, the proceeds of the illegal sale of 170,000 landmines to Angola.

This photo shows the football team that Gaydamak bought, in reality:

_40573491_angolafootball_bbc_203.jpg

Since this picture, the European Union spent $1.5M on the destruction of Angola's landmine stocks.

Shame on the Premier League and shame on Portsmouth...

Well, an interesting theory surfaced yesterday on one of our boards. Apparently, four out of the last seven influential characters to arrive at FP since Gaydamak left in October have either been sued by the Gaydamak family, or are in turn suing said family.

IF the club goes into admininstration, Gaydamak jr/snr will lose approx 95% of the £28 million he says he is owed.

So it would be sweet revenge for the four out of seven to let the club go under, wouldn't it?

Mmmmm, I just love being a helpless pawn in somebody else's game of poker......

Wouldn't Gaydamak be classed as one of the creditors though? Much like Aviva were for us?

If his demands don't get met he could very well end up voting against giving you a vaild CVA to come out of administration, which could end up with you getting a -15 point deduction, along with the minus 9 you would get for going into administration in the first palce.

So in summary even though you have over the life of both clubs won more trophies you still attract lower crowds in the very competition that you won merely 2 seasons ago then we get against a team competing outside of the Football League. And Stadium capacity is no factor here as due to the nature of the cup we both fell way short.

Dread to think how few 'fans' you would have if you hadn't acheived the same in your illustrious past.

I do enjoy our chats.

We weren't talking about crowds, we were talking about trophies WON....

Not sure it matters whether he's a creditor or not. Either way if there's only 5 pence in the pound owed left from the wreckage, 5 pence is all he'll get, unless new owners are willing to stump up more to gain control........

What the fook are you on about

If the club go into Admin, sacha and co lose control and will have no say in how much is paid. If they don't agree the value the admimistrator accepts then they can refuse to sign the CVA which is more points deducted.

As for if there is 5 pence in the pound left from the wreckage (Start by deleting the word owed in your sentance) do some basic maths, approx 100 million in debt, losing money each month and future TV revenue already allocated to pay off loans etc, take off the assets (0.0001p)...... it aint pretty

Nail. Head.

He knows exactly what's going on, because he (or, more accurately, his father) is still the owner, but these comments cast doubt on the views of those who have managed to piece enough information together.

I'm absolutely stunned that Scotland Yard have been going after the relatively small-fry Mandaric, Redknapp and Storrie when there's a MUCH bigger picture in this whole episode, IMO.

Think you'll find this is the City of London Police, not the Met' and of course, those nice friendly chaps from HMC&R.

Meanwhile, the world's tallest building has just been declared open here in Dubai.

In a simple but stunning opening ceremony, the Tower was renamed the Burj Khalifa in honour of the President of the UAE (and the fact he bunged the local boys 10 bil to get out of hock)

A stunning firework display was preceded by two parachutists jumping safely off the top of the 828 metre tall building.

Local sources have denied reports that the parachute of a third jumper, rumoured to be a local reality show TV celebrity failed to open. The offical news agency commented that it was rubbish and libellous to begin to believe that the local parachute packing company could be blamed for a mechanical failure. It was more likely that the parachute would not fit over his head.

It should also be noted that there is absolutely no truth whatsoever in the allegations that there is a Saints shirt buried in the foundations. Honest

As they will be gone "JUST LIKE THAT" ;)

I don't think he accepts the Tommy Cooper/Southampton connection - even though he lived less than a mile from Benny Hill!

I have a feeling that if Pompey go to administration then it'll be bought by one of the present shower for next to nothing, probably Gaydemak. Remember, Bates was chairman of Leeds when they went pop and managed to buy it back for £1 i think. There is nothing that excludes even the prople who ****ed it all up in the first place from buying it back out of admin. It's that sort of bag of snakes we're dealing with here.

Except that Pompey haven't really won that many trophies, if we look at actual things won, then where would Pompey be counted? This list is the total number of titles won (League Championships, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, Cup Winners Cup, Fairs/UEFA Cup and Club World Cup.

1) Liverpool 40

2) Manchester United 37

3) Arsenal 27

4) Aston Villa 20

5) Tottenham Hotspur 17

6) Everton 15

7) Chelsea 14

8) Newcastle United 11

9) Blackburn Rovers 10

10) Wolverhampton Wanderers 9

11) Manchester City 9

12) Nottingham Forest 9

13) Sunderland 8

14) Sheffield Wednesday 8

15) Leeds United 7

16) West Bromwich Albion 7

17) Wanderers 5

18) Sheffield United 5

19) West Ham United 5

Huddersfield Town 4

Portsmouth 4

Preston North End 4

Burnley 4

Bolton Wanderers 4

So, if you actually look at trophies won, Pompey are in a 5 way tie for 20th place. How do you make them Premier? But even your best argument doesn't wash - would Wanderers deserve a place in the Premier League based on 5 FA Cup wins when they haven't existed for over 120 years?

Love the statistics, What number are Saints on this list?

we are certainly not big club - with high level of public interest etc.

We are similar to a number of "mid" sized clubs who will get attention when something big happens or have a period of good form - ie prem side.

Difference is I think we generally have a realistic view of where we are in the pecking order, and know we are low in league.

Skates seem to think they are an established prem giant who most would be surprised to see relegated!

No Nick, You may have a realistic view, but many on here do not.

Because we're not that far along the road to make a comparrison yet? Didn't Saints go into Administration BEFORE, Swiss man bought you? It aint over for Pompey (Though personally I think it is) yet, you were in the 11th hour before your white Knight popped up for his bargain, pompey have not even been placed in admin yet.

It has been obvious from day one that the purchase of Portsmouth Football Club has been a money laundering exercise for the Gaydemak family.

I think that given that the crime that Gaydamak Sr. has been found guilty of, was committed in France, an organisation such as Interpol would need to get involved.

What I find incredible is that Southampton fans have, for years, bemoaned the ethics of the reverse takeover of a rest home company, to obtain a public listing and yet Pompey fans have not been able to raise a whimper about the source of their recent "wealth", until their league status is threatened....

SOME Saints fans, not Saints fans in general. There are many Pompey fans who have always Questioned what was going on with the Gaydamaks(again not the majority), some who I know even withdrew their support because of it. I sadly for whatever reason was not one of them.

No that only allegedly works if you happen to be best friends with Mr Gerald Krasner.

Now I know allegedly not many people think much of Mr K but I would find it hard to think that he would want the business world to know he was best friends with the gaychaps.

Mind you that assumes he gets the job, could always go to Mr Fry, now that could be funny. Southend's finest meets... nah not even Mr allegedly corporate box at West Ham could allegedly even begin to think of pulling that one surely

And Charles Dickens. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Shirlock Holmes creator) was Pompey's Goalkeeper too! :)

Extract from that linked article:

"An indictment from the court case claims Arkadi Gaydamak and his partner, Pierre Falcone, helped to organise the sale of £450m of arms to the Angolan government between 1993 and 1998, including the landmines, 420 tanks, 150,000 shells, 12 helicopters and six warships."

Nothing new really.

Television money to be paid to clubs owed money

Kevin-Prince Boateng nable to play for anyone else this season so that is a tied up asset

Jamie O'Hara, despite reports earlier in the day may not have his loan extention approved.

Players still not paid. Awaiting short term loan.

They really are f..ked up.
