A day in which Football Fans can come together

Fans Reunited 3 - Portsmouth v Bristol City - Saturday 17th March 2012

The Pompey Supporters Trust in conjunction with @Fansreunited on Twitter would like to invite fans from all over the UK to come to Fratton Park and help support Portsmouth Football Club which is currently in Administration for the second time in 2 years and has grave doubts over its future.

When Plymouth Argyle faced extinction last year, a Fans Reunited day was organised whereby fans of all teams were encouraged to attend Home Park wearing their clubs’ colours. It was a show of solidarity amongst rival fans throughout the UK. Thousands of football fans attended, supporters of teams of all divisions, from the Premier League, down to non league. In total, at least 50 different teams were represented at the match, with fans travelling from as far away as Falkirk to show their support.

The supporters’ club laid on pre and post match festivities for all fans and a party atmosphere grew throughout the day. Rival fans stood shoulder to shoulder, ignoring their differences and proving that a shared love of football outshines any hostility. The atmosphere within the ground was electric, fans singing together as one voice, a multi-coloured stadium decorated with the shirts from 50 different clubs. The atmosphere spurred the players on and Argyle went on to win their first game of the season.

At a time when football fans are often portrayed as hooligans in the media, this was an example of the good side of football. The day was publicised throughout the National news, within local and National newspapers, radio stations and featuring on high profile television shows such as Soccer AM, the Football League show and Football Focus, gathering a lot of support as a result.

Every fan who attended this memorable day will tell you how much they enjoyed it and how successful it was. Shortly after, Plymouth were saved from extinction and now concentrate their fight on remaining in the football league.

It would be a great show of support from the Football family if we saw fans from all over the UK come to the South Coast and spend the afternoon enjoying a game of football and for 90 mins help us all forget footballs ills.

If you can't be there in person perhaps you might like to Donate to our Pay4aPal scheme that aims to allow fans to buy tickets for local kids, young adults and fans that either can't normally make a game due to hard times or are disadvantaged in some way.

You can either Donate via this link on our 12th Man website http://www.pompeys12thman.co,uk/pay4apal.php or by a cheque made out to the Pompey Supporters Trust addressed to :- PST, Unit 2, 15 Rodney Road, Portsmouth, PO4 8TB. Please mark the envelope Pay4aPal.

Well whats the punishment for getting those funds then????

But they were expected anyway... "The League will now resume payment of the club’s Basic Award monies which are normally paid on a monthly basis to all Football League clubs." minus any outstanding football debts.

So it's seems it's just spin.

Just what I was thinking. I was wondering if I'd missed something, but I hadn't. The only questionable thing here is why this 'news' (football club will be paid money that it would have been paid anyway) merits a headline at all.

Yeah I don't quite understand the massive fanfare over that, it's money they were entitled to anyway, being paid at exactly the time it was due to be paid along with the other 23 Championship clubs.

That's my take on it. Not great wording in that article, but suggests the FL were holding back money which they won't anymore?

"The League will now resume payment of the club’s Basic Award monies which are normally paid on a monthly basis to all Football League clubs." Does this mean they were suspended? If so, why? And if they were, as seems to be indicated by the word 'normally', then what's changed to enable them to release them again now?

Typical FL - don't know what the hell they are doing and are making it up as they go along.

It was money they were entitled to anyway and was always going to be released.
But Birch's quotes and the wording of the article clearly suggest that the FL had been intending on holding onto these funds for a reason? Maybe to cover football creditors?

What a nice idea.

So we're all invited then?

Great I'll get the gang together and get the shirt out the wash and join them on their big day to show solidarity.

Anyone else up for the trip?

C'mon, we could get a few hundred along to show them how much they mean to us...

And they'd have to make us welcome....

Which WOULD be the funny side

It is being accepted up here that rangers will be liquidated before the end of this yeas spl. It will have an impact on Scottish football but equally it may be just the shake up Scottish football needs

But all indications are that what has come out so far is just the tip of an Iceberg.

It may well be that RFC could set a new standard for "Cheating" that even the phew would find hard to match.

BUT the other point is that RFC ONLY need to pay football creditors in full IF they want to play in Europe next year (providing they get their accounst signed off = unlikely)

So a buyer up there can pick up the pieces and make the squad redundant.

poopey on the other hand IF they find a nug have to keep paying Kanu & TBH et al

NDA Agreements signed with PKF

We can confirm that an NDA (Non Disclosure agreement) has been signed between the Pompey Supporters Trust and PFK with an aim to gaining a better understanding of the present predicament of PFC. The PST will now be entering a period of due diligence led by our recently appointed legal and finance experts to ascertain how the PST and the community as a whole might be able to assist in securing the long term future of PFC & bringing the club safely out of administration.

This does not mean the PST are launching any bid, it is simply part of the ongoing process of finding out just what sort of problems the club faces in the coming months.

Meeting with Andrew Andronikou Monday 5th March

After some thought the Board agreed that more detail of the meeting be made available to Members first and then the public domain afterwards.

The Trust was invited, on Sunday evening, to meet Andrew Andronikou (AA) & representatives from Portpin’s solicitors on Monday morning. PST chair, Ashley Brown (AB) and board member Mick Williams (MW), along with representatives from the Trust legal advisors attended the meeting. In the event, AA arrived alone.

When asked the purpose of the meeting, AA said that he is trying to put the record straight – AB suggested that it might be a good idea to speak to the News.

AA spoke for some time about the current CVA, which is nominally valued at £16.5M. This figure is subject to the validation of claims by the liquidator of the old company and, in his opinion, will fall to below £10M.

AA explained that in reality, there is no CVA requirement on the new company. It is actually an agreement between the old company and the new company and, therefore, will not be considered a current CVA by the Football League.

UHY had two possible sale deals, one of £7M and another of £10M which actually got to contract stage, but failed at the last minute.

On the current situation, AA confirmed the debt to Portpin as £17.2M and £11.2M to CSI. In addition there are £4.7M old football debts, £2.4M to HMRC and approximately £2M of new trade debts. There was some further explanation of how voting works in a potential CVA including the fact that the value of current players contracts would need to be taken into account.

AA stated that no PL payments are being made directly to Mr Gaydamak.

AA explained a little about the failure to sell players in the last transfer window, saying that he believed that there were deals happening up until the last few hours before the deadline. He also expressed concern about the negativity surrounding the club, a concern shared by Portpin, saying that it is not helping to find a buyer. MW drew to the attention of AA the very good and positive article written by AB, which had recently appeared in the Times.

The final comment from AA was that maybe Portpin should talk to us and consider a gesture of good will. At that point the meeting ended.

It is of the opinion of the Board Members who met Mr Andronikou that not that much that wasn’t already known to them was revealed from this meeting. It was useful, however, to listen to Mr Andronikou put forward his views.

The Trust Board consider it vitally important and part of our duty that we meet with everyone who has a role to play in saving Portsmouth Football Club from liquidation.

Payment was suspended as is usual with clubs going into administration according to SSN.

Erm..... but we're talking 4 months worth of payments withheld here.....and PFC ('the club') only went into administration a couple of weeks ago..... unless, of course, upon the parent company (CSI) going into admistration, the Football League were dishing out one punishment with one hand (i.e. withholding usual League payments) yet holding fire on another punishment with the other hand (points deduction).

So, behind the scenes, did the League consider the football club to be in administration 4 months ago or didn't they?

All sounds very inconsistent to me....

SSN saying cheats to get £800,000 TV money.

Think it is pretty clear this thread will last into the end of the season.

Oh the Joy of the pain of uncertainty for the phew as they head off for their summer vacations on the pebbles by Southsea Pier

Don't think so....

There would be two payments left - March and April.

So that means January and February would have been with held.

I'm guessing that the FL stopped the payment when they announced they were applying for admin - was that beginning of January?

All seems straight forward to me, but I guess the lack of goals from the skates has led them to celebrate anything with a positive spin - look out for more celebrations at the end of the week as the post man brings a letter which could possibly have some good news in it.....

Ah, Ok. My bad. I took it as 4 months in arreas taking us back to November when CSI went into administration. That'll teach me to speed read (badly) :-)

January 3rd is when HMRC issued the WUP so I guess that's the date that the League stepped in?

I would think that the £800,000 quoted consists of however much they haven't yet received, plus what they are due to receive over the next few months, rather than being a full £800,000 that's been withheld, with more to come. Which would tally with the time that the club entered administration. Sometimes you can look too hard for conspiracies... :suspicious:

So is aa saying that they have successfully blown off the cva?

I think so, well, in as much that he reckons the Football League can't penalise PFC2010 (newCo) for not honouring it because it's not the same company. Blooming big loophole in the FL rules if you ask me. But, there again, I guess they didn't reckon upon a club ever going into administration a second time so soon after the first!

Only a guess but I think the CVA is effectively an unsecured debt now?

Also notice no mention of what is owed to the gun runner?

Question is guys what will they do with the money?? form an orderly Q behind Kanu etc.......

In a way, that's the beauty of them being given more cash. The longer they're kept alive the more amusing it will be to see how they waste it....

Keep throwing good money after bad I say.

But remember, this is AA talking. There are loop holes, then there are AA loop holes and as Birch has said he has a completely different fair play philosophy.

Pompey invite fans all over the country to help them pay Tal Ben Haim £36,000 per week and Dave Kitson £19,000 per week. Mmmm, think the goodwill out there might not match that for Argyle.

Just a slight difference, didn't Peter Reid sell his FA Cup winners medal to try and raise funds for Plymouth... and Pompey have done... er yeah, exactly.
