Pompey Takeover Saga

My dads business is owed 50k via tradesmen who did work on the toilet facilities at FP - the poor guy won't see that, and my dad will have to take him to court or come to an agreement to get the money. That is what pi......es me off.....small

Businesses lose out to football players on 20k a week and the staff work work for Pompey.

It was same story at SMS.....those who have to pay mortgages, rely on a few £100 a week. Can't see why the football

Creditors take priority. At least if HMRC did, they may pay a proportion of owed back to the club staff etc.

Exactly! Give one example of a club like Portsmouth that have been liquidated? And this time their situation isn't nearly as bad as last time in terms of the debt mountain.

I was certain they were toast last time and the judge let them off because football clubs are an exception to the law and no one has the backbone to pull the plug. Nothing has changed in that respect and I'm sure TB will look to sell to anyone before allowing them to go pop completely.

Hypo ho ho ho! You really have your ITK hat on today. Man didn't land on the moon, before one actually did. Pompey a big club! Only in their eyes. As Steve said, the ppp are handed out by the PL, and they will be waiting for the next sky payment, before they part with that kind of money IMO anyway. They have nothing to offer a decent buyer, so even if they do locate the Portsea village idiot, and get him to buy the club for a quid, he still gets nothing other than a shed load of debt.

The way I'm reading this, the old CVA people aren't getting paid and will have to take a % of the original CVA %.

Good luck with trying to get them all to vote for a new CVA.

Does anybody kinow how much debt is owed under the old CVA and what % is that of the new debt?

I believe the (old) CVA total is around £16m. Add that to £10.8m owed to CSI, £1.6m to HMRC and around the same to staff from January's wages, Baker Tilly hold most of the aces if a CVA's going to be agreed.

M'Boro won't have much more than 800 there if they're lucky. Crowd of 16k max, very impressive.

I expect that TB will now run out of cash and with no buyer, he will have to liquidate. Gaydamak and Baloo will do a deal between them to apply for change of use, as it will have been proven that nobody will buy to run a football club. Perhaps Tescos or Persimmon Homes will be the owner after all, Baloo and Gaydamak will be paid in full and they all lived happily ever after.

Toasty toast with a round of toast! The realisation is starting to hit my pet skates! They have given up, which is quite understandable. They aren't prepared to go to watch them because they aren't the club they love. Already planning going to watch the phoenix club that will ultimately emerge.

Mmmm toast!

On fratton park being unused....;

1 March 2012 at 04:56 PM AllMouth

@73 - He wouldn't need to. There's no way the council would allow the stadium to sit empty and unused. It would be a haven for crack heads and would cause all manner of problems for the area. Unless someone buys it to use as a stadium (and it could only possibly be the phoenix club that does that) then it'll be flattened and the whole area developed. And that's how Chainrai and Gaydamak get their money back.

Isn't already practically unused apart from fortnightly visits from a few crackheads?

The FL will not allow them to fail before the end of the season, because it would, in their eyes, be catastrophic to have to " readjust" the CCC table by docking all points prior to them folding

Simples

Other than deduct 10 points the Football League will do as they have been doing all along NOTHING

What's to stop Chanrai selling Fratton, pocketing the cash he's owed and walking off into the sunset? The Skates then do a groundshare with someone like Havant & Waterlooville, like Brighton did at Gillingham and then the Withdean, and that's one less debt on the table.

They owe HMRC over £2m. £1.6m is the PAYE and NI owed, there's also over £400k of VAT (I assume) due.

#packthebags is probably more appropriate

I'm stealing that.

I have heard this through the grape vine. Sadly Portsmouth will not complete the season. I really hope this reliable source is talking rubbish for once. He has informed me that Portsmouth will partner up with United Services Portsmouth. If you've not seen already, the United Services pitch on Park Road, which is the road leading into Gunwharf, is undergoing massive improvements. The entire pitch was dug up last week ago and a mass amount of draining systems have been installed. They have also been leveling out the grounds too. This is apparently in preparation for next season. It is believed that by the newly formed Portsmouth playing there, Gunwharf has the potential to further flourish too.I really do hope this isn't the case, but I thought i'd give you all a heads up on the possibility. PUP

Um!! That's where HCC used to play methinks!

I'm not sure why anyone thinks this time is any different to the last time they owed loads, were insolvent and got away with it. Or the tme before that. Yes they have a proper administrator in charge but I'll believe it when I see it.

Hypo ho ho ho, you're almost there my sickie friend. The clue is 'proper Administrator'!

has money till mid april at the latest

has now found out he has no money after that, was banking on money from the premier league

can't see beyond mid april

unless more cash is in by any means, won't last till end of season.

unless money is generated somehow, pompey WILL cease trading mid april

if pompey fail to close the season out, 2 teams will go down

will ask players to take further pay deferrals

can't tear up players contracts

trying to loan players out....till march 22 when loan window shut.

pompey lived beyond its means for too long

players wages far too high

may need a pompey to go bust to sort football out. this may be the one

worst case scenario - if no one buys the club, it will be liquidated. players will be free to go.

couple of weeks to find a buyer or its good night

talking to people about buying club....talks on going. no one breaking door down

operating costs sky high

Which would be a shame, because it is clearly, IMHO, in the long-term interests of the game at large for someone relatively high profile to go pop.
