Pompey Takeover Saga

Be interesting to see where in the FL rules it says anything about 14 fit players, and who counts towards the number and who doesn't. As it hints in the response, this appears to be a "policy" rather than application of any specific rules (though worth checking). If so, that's code for "we can do what we want".

Not exactly new news, tbf

Really!? A club that has failed to pay charities, schools and local businesses!

Has anyone else heard the rumour that both Reading & Brighton wont give us any tickets unless we pay in advance for them by this Friday?. [/TD]

I think the FL's response explains why Skates never wanted to give any of their youngsters a go under Uncle Avram or old Clottermouth - because once they have played they are deemed 1st team - and why it is always 'Same old Skates, always cheating'. Appy has been converted in some strange 'Stepford Manager' scenario, where a decent young manager arrives and in no time has been corrupted into another cheating, whining dirtball. Their cynicism is unbelievable. Just wait, 12 or 13 players on Saturday, then miraculously next week a couple of Prem youngsters or mysteriously 'out of contract' players (think Rocha & Owusu-Abeye) are suddenly signed up in the interests of fairplay. Why does no-one else seem to see it?

Looks like they will get their wish for more players then. I understand the FL rules, and let's be clear, Saints weren't made to play the kids. That was our effort to try and avoid administration, to cut costs and sustain cash flow. Basically, it was common sense, same way most financially struggling clubs operate.

We all know PFC don't think like that, so they won't play their youth players. The rule should be changed however. Why should it be 14 fit senior players? If you owe fortunes and are making losses, costing the local community, tax payer etc., then screw the football side of things. Play 14 kids if you have to, that's the short term price you pay for getting into that financial mess. What's wrong with that as a punishment? The FL's ruling is directly contributing to even more debt, and I hope you replied to them stating such. Crazy ruling, absolutely crazy.

Will be interesting to see just how many they do sign in the coming weeks.

I'm sure the clubs around them at the bottom will also be taking a very keen interest too. If the skates sign any more PL players and then stay up, the club relegated in 22nd would have a massively strong case for suing the FL. They should be playing young players plus PL free transfers like Lee Molyneux and Ryan Smith, who but for Lowe and Wilde would have been out of work anyway in 2009. Personally, I'd operate a 'one in one out policy' on players under 25 and let them get more numbers in only once Pearce, Ben Haim, Ward, Henderson, Lawrence, Varney, Kitson etc are all gone on loan-to-perms.

Unlike a lot of people on here, I didn't want them to go bust but they do have be relegated this season, they've blatantly cheated which there now seems to be widespread understanding and anger about within the wider football community. The FL are on a very sticky wicket.

A great read, and the first of a series debunking the myths and general nonsense spouted down the road.

Could have used a spell-checker though! Doesn't help credibility to have that many errors. And why no mention of the fact that we used to call them Scummers? I still don't know why that changed.

Say you have a mortgage charge of £100,000 but the property market collapses or something happens in your area to reduce the property value. You go bust. The Mortgage company take your house back, sell it for £80,000. You still owe them £20,000 so they become an unsecure creditor for the rest. Their security is only on your house, not its contents or other assets you might have.

But in Chinneys case the Debenture created a fixed charge on the pPperty AND a Floating Charge on the other assets eg Stock,Fixtures and Fittings, Debtors, Cash, Intellectual Property Rights both present & future. Therefore if the property is revalued it does not necesarily mean that he will be unsecured for the rest of the £17m debt. In saying all that though, there is probab ly not much else, after the property, with any value.

does the lad they are selling to Liverpool come into the 14 fir player. How can they in 1 hand say they havent 14 and then still loan out. Also if they get loans in will they have to go straight back as soon as the 14 players are fit again?

Slowly more fans on here are starting to believe like myself and a few others that the powers to be really dont wish for the can of worms to be opened.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic but I don't have time to keep up with this thread and all the others. On the Poopey website there's an article about tickets for the match at our place in which it lists items banned at St Mary's. One of the items specifically banned is "Musical instruments, i.e. Bell" - well done to whomever at SFC came up with that!

But if Forest, Donny, Coventry, etc complain to the FL regarding the CHEATS manipulation of the rules, what will happen ? I understand the letter of the law regarding 14 players with 'first team' experience, but it should be 'quantity over quality', and Prem players should be off limits.
