Pretty fed up of hearing the skates crying about the FL and the FAPPT. They all need to take a good look at this statement by Birch.

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/local/pompey_could_have_more_points_deducted_1_3539161

Asked about the effectiveness of the Football League’s test for owners he said: ‘The Football League have a fit and proper test which has to be run on a series of objective measures rather than subjective measures because if they turn people down just on the subjective basis then they are going to be open to attack and trying to defend those claims is obviously going to be costly, that will then take funds away from clubs from the central distribution so it’s a bit of a difficult circle.

‘If they haven’t got a criminal record or they haven’t had any insolvencies, these are factual objective issues that people can look at and anything else is just subjective."

This where the FL's responsibilities end. Beyond that it is up to the existing owners to act responsible and sell to the write person. I guess things unravel when you get a ****ish owner who then sells to an even bigger **** and so on.

Totally agree. The way some of them talk, you'd think that the FA were their accountants and auditors, as well as assessing their owner's ability to perpetually fund a loss making company.

What gets me is there is that text in the article pointing out why the fault lies with the people selling the club and not the FAPPT and they still add comments such as:

the Football Association has to shoulder some of the blame for the mess PFC find themselves in.

Firstly they obviously do not know the difference between the FA and the FL and secondly the only fault is to be taken in by the promises of someone that also fooled a lot of other people.

In fairness though, plenty of people on here seem to have problems with that distinction!

"In simple terms, expenditure has exceeded income in a large way predominantly due to handing out unsustainable salaries to players on long-term contracts."

Well what a surprise....but don't worry Trevor, go and speak to lumpitt.....he's got an explanation for that

How can that be?

I believe this new administrator is telling porky pies, just like the last one did!

After all, we've listened to the Corpse telling us for two years now that the club is self sustainable, living within it's means and financially sound.

We've also had PFC123 telling how they'll be fine, so he must have known all along they were economically viable.

To top it all off, we've even had lumpitt stating in the press that they are an excellently run club, financially in a much better place, and not only that, but only made a loss of £0.8m which will be shown when the accounts are published - where are these accounts by the way??

So, the only logical conclusion to all these 'truths' is that the administrator is telling lies.....

It's always been the case that they thought 'we'll be fine as long as our owner keeps putting in £10m per year', and to be fair (why, oh why should I?) if the owner insists that he is going to put in the required sum for the foreseeable future, then the vast majority of clubs would go along with it and spend the money.

Remember Notts County's episode with Munto finance. After their last administration they were predominately owned by supporters groups, but they voted to sell out to a bvi group which promised mega-bucks investment. The funds dried up after about 10 minutes (after Sven and Sol had taken their share), and then the club is bought out of admin at the last minute by a traditional owner again.

My points being:

1) If an owner wants to spend money it's actually a bit difficult to stop them (and you want to believe in them)

2) Even if the fans own the club, it will either be broke or sold back into 'risky' ownership again because, human nature, we never learn and want to achieve more

Although the Skates are more willing whores than most, I think every club on the planet is susceptable

Where the Skates differ from most is that they are proud that they can shrug off the debt. They believe it's an achievement to screw over others

(Must go and shower now - I feel dirty..... ;) )

sorry mate but it is you that hasnt got a clue re find 3 of the only saints fans I've seen to have no clue

I know one of them and he has far more of a clue than you and I .

He was in fact one of Saints Historians ask Fitzhugh Fellow

That may be true, but when given the chance all three were like rabbits in headlights ( or their soundbites were heavily edited).

And when asked "are you bothered at their demise" he replied something along the lines of "no, not one bit".

Yeah, about that Adam, could you give some evidence of how they were so worried about us going out of business a few years back ?

Perhaps the Echo could arrange a collection at St Marys for them at the next home game........

I wonder whatever became of those plans they unveiled about the "floating stadium" near that tower thing they have got down there ?

Whoever has them should publish them again, they are sitting on comedy gold.

Actually wasn't there a solidarity campaign by a few Saints fans (think it might have been before the Prem admin) to try to assist with donations etc in their time of need?

I recollect this (misplaced) hand of friendship was thrown back by the bestest fans in the world along the lines of ..'we dont ned no help from know scummers'.. etc etc

Just listening to Press Pass on Talksport. David Conn was on, said that no serious person would invest in them, and that's why they ended up with all these undesirables. Des Kelly said he feels teams that go into admin, should be disqualified from the League and automatically relegated. Conn said that the taxman used to go easy on football clubs, but that Bates had enraged them when Leeds went into admin, and that they now act stright away.Said they are sick of people getting rich on the back of football, whilst the clubs wont pay their tax bills.

Where were the Poopey fans protesting about CSI buying them ? Where were they in October when the policy of 'Quality over Quantity' was in full swing, ( and before Anotonov's world imploded ) ? They never complained publicly about any of their owners WHEN they took over, despite all the efforts of SWF investigators to warn them.

Apparently Rod Liddle in todays Sunday Times slags portsmyth in his column calling them "cheats" . Unfortunately the site is pay per view so I cant post link.

He does. But he also includes us in his list of clubs with "absurd delusions of grandeur", along with all the other Championship clubs that have gone into admin in the last decade.

Liddle also slagged Pompey in his Sun column last week.

nice link Si, some good predictions there, and some people saying the thread should have closed back then as the Russians had arrived to save the day!

The worrying thing is the thread is just as funny reading it back again - that means you could go back to the start and have a good laugh even though you know what's coming up, and in some cases, because you know what's coming up!

Anyway, new week, more hilarity - let's see if Lampitt makes it to Wednesday - and what the administrator has up his sleeve.

As long as it isn't more signings then it should be another good week - and of course AA will be mounting his great challenge, and explaining away that last minute impulse bribe that Chanrai dangled in front of the court....

Having watched Pompey's slow-motion train crash to obscurity, I was amused to see Madjeski sitting next to the latest Russian "businessman" to infect the English Leagues.

Are Reading fans going to blame the FL or Madjeski when it all goes tits up.

Be afraid Reading fans, be very afraid.

Of course, it's not this character, it's his son.

Familiar?
