Pompey Takeover Saga

Someone said it before..Portsmouth must have something over one of the higher ups of the Football League because this is special treatment. They continue to take the p*** and cheat.

I'm starting to think the same as well. They just don't want to punish them for whatever reason.

And he's paying for his own travel, food and hotels is he?

No, didn't think so - they have just added to their outgoings with a free player, from a club that they owe money to! :o

They are seriously taking the p1ss now - I do hope Southern Electric has noted that pompey seem to have some money after all.

The only company in UK insolvency history to take on new staff as part of a drastic cost-cutting exercise. :scared:

Ridiculous, I didn't think they could sink lower in my estimation but there you go.

This has gone beyond Saints fans wanting Pompey to suffer (well that is fun of course) For me this is as a fan of football in general completely unfair, even if I wasn a Saints fan I would still have the same views. I feel really sorry for the bottom 3 in the Championship and teams like Bornemouth, Luton etc who never had this kind of treatment..Never had their problem being fought by an MP and brought up in PM Questions. When Saints were going through this we did do it right, got rid of the high earners and played the youth. We paid our dues and learnt our lessons and now much stronger for it. Cant see Pompey ever learning..mind you they dont have to when they have their own personal b***h working for the Football League.

Football Agent @FootballAgent46

"To anyone listening to @talkSPORT Portsmouth can sign Thorne because his registration was at the club when company went into admin."

So why have they been able to sign him now? Oh yeah, because their accounts have been unfrozen - so he is costing $$$. It's sick.

Am I mistaken, or as there not to be a forensic investigation of PFC's account when Oldco was liquidated? There seems to have been a deafening silence about anything being unveiled there, so why would another administrator turn up anything that had hitherto not been uncovered?

The silence might be a lack of action, or it could be because a criminal case is likely ;-)

As I it, BC will now take a cut price deal and sell, Pompey will not go down and just stave off relegation. A group will buy them at a knock down price and the CVA will be pushed back so far into the distance the creditors will eventually accept less than 5p in the £.

Saying that, i suspect the quality over quantity will be cast aside and Pompey will become what they were until their golden period when the taxpayer contributed to their success and be around the bottom of the Championship or worse.

I still believe they have got away with it, and am amazed that other clubs just turn over and let their tummies get rubbed. The laughable phrase 'the football family' will be yet again paraded and they will be allowed to prosper.

They did the dirty deed with their sister, wiped themselves clean on the best pair of their mums curtains and then walked away smiling. The media never mention the victims of their charades ie charities ,st johns ambulance etc, but the poor fans who had all those terrible days going to Wembley on the back of it.

pompey have 3 subs this afternoon........

why won't they put their young lads on the bench....disgrace

As the players have been hitchhiking to the game, they worry at sending the youngsters in case they sell their body on the way and not turn up to the gaaame. :)

The players are taking this very seriously, preferring to relie on heavenly powers than administrators.

Morally I'm with you - he is however having all his wages paid by the boing boing's. Whilst it doiesn't feel right the FL are allowing it, they are taking the **** rather than Pompey by saying to the rest of the CCC clubs **** you in effect

Appleton mustve called in a favour, why would West Brom loan him out?

Why had they 'acted in the best interests of the club' exactly? That was not their job, they were administrators of CSI and employed to act in the best interests of the creditors.

Exactly! If anything he should be prepared to sacrifice his client's business assets (PFC2010) for his client's main business!

The oily snake wasn't trying, BC had his hand up AA's ar5e controlling everything until friday's hearing.

They were never going to go out of business in the middle of a football season were they, can you imagine the mess that the FL would have to deal with ?? For a start there would have been a 5 point shift between us and WHU, in reality, and if the shoe was on the other foot that would be a nightmare to sort out.

The sickening thing is the fact that they are continued to be allowed to sign players, if and only if there only excuse is the feeble "they already held the registration" ******** then ok, I can just about swallow it, but NO MORE, let alone the fact that the SFA had enough balls to stop the cousin signing.

Really?

It's my understanding that they went into admin YESTERDAY! They certainly didn't hold his registration then, otherwise they wouldn't have needed permission to sign him on loan.....

Surely Pompey holding his registration when their 'parent' company went into admin would make no difference whatsoever, since the two companies were not in any way shape or form inextricably linked, no siree, no way were they!

Would love clarification from the FL about that tweet....

If only. With Mawhinney gone, there seems to be no-one left with a reputation for toughness who might wish to make an example of them

At the moment it does appear so. But hopefully, with the crimes of the Cheats being so egregious, the spirit of the late Mawhinney may linger on (just for them).

Some utter spastic skate fans on solent saying they shouldn't have been deducted 10 points, and the league needs to stop ''kicking us when we're down''

Err you idiot, i think you better thank your lucky stars they're being as lenient as they are.

It's just amazing that after all this time and all this mess, they STILL don't get it!

Clueless clowns.

They never cease to amaze me. Appletons interview = Gobsmacked.

"Hopefully the football leage will be sensible for once and allow us to bring a few players in." Unf*ckingbelievable.

It really is staggering. They don't seem to have learnt from any previous mistakes. Bringing in players is not the answer, the answer is to get the costs down as much as possible and start trying to live within their means, like the vast majority of lower league clubs do. And make no mistake, with crowds of 14k a lower league club is exactly what they are. Their fans can bleat on about how they're the best in the country (we all know that's a myth), but even if it were true, that doesn't bring money in to run the business.

Cut their cloth, regroup and pray for a miracle. That's their ONLY option

The far more worrying line he came out with was the following:

"Trevor has assured me his first priority, first thing on monday, is to ensure we have a group of players that can be competitive in this league"

What a ridiculous thing to say

Surely, if anything, that's the last priority?

The first priority would be ensuring the charities and services get paid. But not in Portsmouth apparently.

let's get to the detail here.

1. The penalty for their Premier League administration didn't cost them a single league place.

2. This time their punishment thus far, is to drop three league places. :?

I'm not sure that a one and a half places drop per administration is that harsh - the places to £millions stolen ratio is quite hefty in their favour and would suggest that crime does pay.

This time it might be different in that the punishment will come slowly through an administrator trying to drag the business back from the criminality of deliberate and blatant insolvent trading.

If he has the intention and acumen to reduce the squad, then we will start to see justice.

In the last two days plucky pompey has told us that their injury crisis is so deep that they need emergency loans because they might not be able to fulfill the fixture today.

All part of the plea for mercy from the football authorities - and it worked.

So I await their team sheet with interest...just 11 fit players was the number quoted the other day, we'll see if they can muster up a sub or two from the yoof.

Or perhaps we'll see some miraculous recoveries and a nice away win for their expensively-assembled squad?

As an annoyed Lord Sugar Tweeted it, business as usual.

I'll consider sympathy when the leopard demonstrates that it has changed it's spots because I reckon they have conned the FL this week.

But I'm cynical like that. :)

This needs to be posted to as many FL clubs as possible - especially those who have sadly had to leave the FL and those who have had all sorts of embargos and restarints placed upon them, after TRYING to resolve the situation they have found themselves in.

Portsmuff FC is an absolute disgrace to all that is decent within Uk footie - die now ffs just die now.

I hope Bournemouth take issue with Thorne. When they were in the same position, Bournemouth were offered players that wouldnt cost them to play and the league refused them....... so why is that different for pompey

Didn't know about this - but always found it strange how hard the FL were on Bomo re loan deals etc.

That's what I was wondering, it isn't just Appleton making odd assumptions, I believe he already knows he can strengthen the squad and we'll be seeing a lot of new recruits joining PFC for the rest of the season.

It's no use whining about it on here. We, and wider football needs to take more action as at the moment it's 'business' as usual for them and it seems the new administrator is very happy to play along.

They're Teflon coated. It really does make one wonder what it is they have over the FL. Lumpy's contacts perhaps?

The media, generally, seem reluctant to spill the beans about all the wrong-doings at PFC. I'm not alone, I'm sure, in sending stuff to the press over the weeks and months.

Given the rants on TalkSport, perhaps they should be made aware of this thread at the very least. Although whether they'd have the time to read it.......

I heard that, too - staggering, isn't it? His first priority is to decide whether PFC is actually worth saving and then, if it is, to apply the necessary cuts to making it a going concern financially. If that means cutting them back so much that they get relegated - but can survive running as an average League 1 side, then so be it.

And as for the skates texting Solent, yet again bleating on about how hard done by they've been, and that they should be able to sign some loan players... well, words fail me.
