Gemmel Posted 31 December, 2009 Share Posted 31 December, 2009 Just on Sky News Pompey will pay Decembers Wages on the 5th January MAYBE It will be interesting to see how the PL react to this. I would have thought that the whole pompey saga has / is a huge embarrassment to them and now they have breached some clear rules, they have a chance to act. If there was a way of getting them out of their league, the minus 9 points would help them on their way and the PL can wash their hands of them. for_heaven's_Saint Posted 31 December, 2009 Share Posted 31 December, 2009 Am I right in saying that Pompey have already promised next seasons TV money to someone...? I think I read that the money is £7 million, and they owe £8 million to other clubs and consequently the money will be withheld by the Premier League to distribute amongst the clubs owed. The article went on to say that they need to raise a minimum of £6m from player sales during the transfer window in order to stay afloat. - just realised that was my boss's copy of The Sun I read that in, so it's more than likely that it is completely untrue. PES Posted 31 December, 2009 Share Posted 31 December, 2009 Having come face-to-face with extinction earlier this year, I would not wish that trauma on any football fan. The fans are the very lifeblood of any club - without them clubs could not exist after all - and it is always the fans that are left to suffer the consequences of mismanagement. I would not wish that on you, nor any of your compardres (with the possible exception of Corp Ho, but even he showed the slightest glimmer of humility yesterday so there could be hope for him yet!). Yes there are probably a very tiny minority who would wish liquidation on you, much like there were a small handful of Pompey fans who wished the same on us. But I fail to understand why any football fans would wish their rivals to cease to exist, because then there would be no rivalry to enjoy - because that's what the rivalry should be: light hearted and fun. I have never subscribed to the whole 'hate pompey' thing - in fact I received a lot of criticism on this board in the run up to your 2008 cup final when I stated that I would rather see a team from Hampshire win the cup than a welsh team, who shouldn't really be in the competition in the first place. However, what I and every other Saints fan does want to see is us above you in the leagues. I'm sure that is all you lot wanted all the years you were below us (44 years wasn't it? ). If financial meltdown and near insovency causes you to drop like a stone through the leagues and restores the balance of power in Hampshire then I will happily celebrate that, but I hope that you, the decent fans, still have a club to support when the dust settles. great post Bexy, another Saint who gets it. Have a great 2010.

Under Weststand Posted 31 December, 2009 Share Posted 31 December, 2009 So are they getting -9?! No report on that yet, but you can bet the FAPL will move heaven & earth to try to ensure that they stumble on until the end of the season, & they can then wash there grubby little hands of the problem. They really have proven to be a complete bunch of t0$$ers. They should be envoking there rules now & issuing 9 point penalty for missing payment for the 3rd time. Also about time they started to aknowledge the growing & usastainable debt that their top clubs are getting into. Their Fit & proper person test is a joke. PES Posted 31 December, 2009 Share Posted 31 December, 2009 No I never have. I have seen first-hand though the level of hatred some of their fans have towards us. Doesn't mean I need to reciprocate it though. Like I said, hate is such a strong word that I cannot bring myself to apply it to anybody. I was having this conversation with my Missus the other day, I was scratching my head to think if I actually hated anyone? I don't. Maybe i'm lucky enough to of never suffered anything enough to make me feel hatred, but I certainly don't hate anyone over football, hates way to strong a word.

PES Posted 31 December, 2009 Share Posted 31 December, 2009 A handful? The entire away end was sold out for a Cup game. There were thousands of them there and I discerned no such attempt from some of their fans to get the others to be quiet. You say it was entirely unexpected. I disagree. A minute of respect for the recently deceased isn't too much to ask, is it? Sorry, but it's wrong to try to capitalise on what was a disgusting event to support your arguement ESPECIALLY when its completely untrue. I seem to have to say this all the time, to refute this misconception that Portsmouth fans en mass, disrespected the minutes silence. The people who dishonoured Ted Bates minutes silence are UTTER scum, I can't even begin to imagine what goes through their heads? But the fact is THIS is how it happened, no more than 2 seperate groups of a handful of utter cretins started shouting Scummer. The noise of Hundreds of Pompey disgusted and embarressed of those cretins amoungst us, were shouting SHUT UP and SHHHH! Before seconds later thousands of Saints fans, in EXACTLY the same way the disgusted Pompey fans had moments earlier, angrily brought short the minutes silence by voicing there anger at the noise from the Pompey end. The thing is those Idiots won, because decent people lost their own discipline within 20 seconds of the beginning of Ted Bates silence, vented their anger and frustration at the dispicable behavior of what I will say again was no more than a handful, say 20 in 3500 fans. Pompey fans should of let the stewards take care of the morons and kept their mouths shut, despite the idiots. One minutes silence means One minutes silence, not One minutes silence but i'm mad at that **** over there shouting scummer! Likewise Saints fans should of kept their own dignity and shut their mouth for 1 f****** minute, THEN let people know how disgusted they were with the behaviour of what would by then of been 12 stupid idiots, arms twisted behind their backs mouthing off as they we're hurled out of SMS by security. benjii Posted 31 December, 2009 Share Posted 31 December, 2009 For Christ's sake PES, give it a rest. Pompey to most Saints fans are a mild inconvenience. An annoying little brother, possibly with a retardation. However for a lot of Pompey fans, Saints are the be-all- and-end-all. A constant ***** in the bubble of self-respect; a stone in the shoe of progress. The bitterness rose and rose; it became venomous. We found it funny. It is funny. If someone walks round West Quay in a Pompey shirt they might get a few looks but no knuckle-dragger is likely to have a pop. If someone wears a Saints shirt in Skatesmouth, they will get a constant barrage of "scummer", often from pre-pubescent little ****es, smirked on by their obese greasey state-sponging ****wit of a mother. Will Saints miss that? Moot point as it will continue whatever happens to Pompey due to the brutish and inward mentality of the island neighbours. However, if you think the pleasure of playing Pompey a few times every generation outweighs the happiness of seeing those ****s squirm in their own inadequacy then it's you who misses the point. St Marco Posted 31 December, 2009 Share Posted 31 December, 2009 I deal with huge companies all the time. Never have i heard a deal being postponed due to a file on a computer not being able to be opened....That is the most stupid thing i ever heard. Do they take their files into the bank each month and do it 1 by 1? Or do they do what everyone else does and have it set up to automatically go into your account every month? And even if it was true that a file could not be opened then they would have a back up file. Could they not have had that emailed to the bank? If it was the banks fault as they try and imply then why did the bank simply not use a different computer? Or try a different branch? I doubt very much that a transaction that is obviously millions of pounds would of failed because of a file. I can imagine the convo with the bank clerk "computer says no, your have to come back tues". "But i need to pay these millions into the staff's accounts or were get in trouble" "have to come back tues, sorry". Total joke of a club and they now need to be made an example of. We got done because we could not pay our bills. If we didn't get done we would probably be going up this year. I work in the finance industry, and if a company are late in paying you can ask them to produce evidence from the bank confirming this, if there really has been a problem. It is a classic grasping at straws, trying to squeeze out another few days to get some cash in. my guess is there is a player sale going through which may give them some cash by mid-way through next week and they are stalling until then.
