Toadhall Saint Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 If HMRC had made any concessions we'd have heard about it by now. Saint in Paradise Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 (edited) I wonder if the FL will somehow keep pimpey going until the end of the season and then let them die whilst the olympics are on so that not many people notice. I think IF they do get a points deduction, and as the FL has already said " Any deduction of points is not automatic and is at the Board discretion". it will only be 10. They could well use the excuse that the first admin was when they were in the PL not the FL. I am still on the side of OldNick - they will get away with it and won't be toast. Faz Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 If they do get an advance to keep them going, I can't see any way that will happen withut the other clubs wanting an severe points deduction at the very least. Clubs such as Cardiff and WHU have a vested interest in keeping them going, and a severe points deduction helps the clubs at the bottom.
eurosaint Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 Monday is the 13th, so half way through the month and nobody has yet been paid for January ! This is pretty bl##dy serious for people with mortgages and other committments etc.. Difficult to feel sorry for the senior players on the biggest wedge, but TBF it's a nightmare for the others ! Their next match after today is Ipswich (at the Frathole!) on Tuesday and you have to wonder if they will be able to stage it at all, maybe the weather will get them off the hook again but they surely must be looking at 'ground zero' otherwise !! derry Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 They are meeting on Friday, the last working day prior to the court hearing. Isn't Monday the deadline day for the next tranche of tax that can be added to the WUP, due on December's wages? January's wages haven't been paid but will have to be then the tax is due on about 20th March? If Pompey can't pay the back tax, pay the wages but don't settle the tax I can't see HMRC buying that. This is just ticking the political boxes so that the politicians are sidelined. In other words enough rope being paid out to hang them properly. hypochondriac Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 Pompeyonline claim that they ban 'scummers' because they are incapable of proper debate but there is absolutely no evidence of that. I have seen saints fan making perfectly reasonable and non abusive points on there and all they receive is abuse in return. They also laugh at saints fans pretending to me be Pompey on there, but of the saints fans didn't do that then they would be instantly banned! I have been on there for ages now and I tend to make the points that need to be made whilst agreeing with some of the idiocy to disguise myself. They can try, but they still need someone who is going to fund Administration, & be able to prove that they are in a position to get someone to take forward at the end of it. Last time they did this Chinny promised to fund it, & that they had promising new investors knocking at the door to takeover. I for one think they have a very different scenario this time. The big question is will the PL & FL let them have parachute payments to give them the time to get by this? And will the courts be quite as lenient this time? Gonna be an interesting week. derry Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 If Chanrai has paid money for salaries into the frozen bank accounts there could be a problem for PFC as there is no way HMRC will unfreeze the accounts before a court case unless they receive the money. If the salaries are paid there will be another £800k due. Looks insolvable.

The parachute payment advance is key to them being allowed to go into admin IMHO. I can't see Chinny chasing £17m, or whatever he's 'owed' (I'm certain he would have had a chunk of this already via player sales etc) by spending a further £x million to fund them. It's already well into diminishing returns, and I suspect he knows it's time to cut his losses, hang on to the ground, and hope he can flog it for a few million in the future

rallyboy Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 any protest that needs explaining has failed. I don't know what they're up to, it's about six years too late to start moaning about things that should've been highlighted then. It was amusing to hear the inarticulate former skate player on Solent (kelly?) dramatically tell the listeners that the atmosphere at Blackpool was..... 'unbelievable'. Is that 'unbelievable' as in the Argentina v Brazil in a World Cup semi-final penalty shootout in front of 80,000 type of arrangement, or the 'unbelievable' in the small away following of drunk inbreds singing a song in a half empty stadium on a freezing afternoon sort of way? More hype! Just more plucky bestest hype to file with the rest of the Portsea pub myths - MPs prodding the taxman in the face and showing him who is boss, the PM stepping in to the rescue!....yes, 1,200 people turned their back for no apparent reason, to demonstrate their message to the TV viewers... And that message was what exactly? Help? Oh the passion, the battling spirit - the fans that never gave up (other than the other 248,800) - they might not have any money but they sure do know how to spin a tale. If hype was cash the taxman would be bathing with AA in caviar tonight and drinking a toast to David Lord Lucan Lampitt. Please can we give Avram a microphone again, please, that was a highlight for me....you can never take our spirit announced the prossie-bothering, serial relegation expert, Hammer Films' grave digger, but you can have three points anytime you fancy, form an orderly queue. Let's cut through the spin and the hype that surrounds this murky business. Cash - on the table now. that's the only real answer.
Pamplemousse Posted 11 February, 2012 Share Posted 11 February, 2012 Just saw this post on Pompey Online, absolutely hilarious! Why scummers are so full of self importance is baffling, in reality their nobodies who support a team that's achieved absolutely nothing in over 100 yrs, less then teams like Huddersfield, Burnley, Preston and many, many more. They've spent most of their existence playing in a tiny little sh!thole achieving jack sh!t, the one trophy they did win was thanks to a Pompey boy, they copy are nicknames and pretend it theirs. They move to a bigger stadium and promptly go bust kicking and screaming like a bunch of girls, we didn't do anything it was Lowe! They still own fack all now and don't even have an owner, beg from from some dead German's Swiss Bank account deluding themselves he left them some pot of gold and it's all free. They really are the true no-marks of the football world and If it wasn't for BBC scum no one would know who they are or even existed.
