The latest futille attempt of masking the situation. C'mon Skates, games up...

http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/LatestNews/news/PFC-Statement-433.aspx

They are completely contradicting themselves in this statement. The very first sentence reads 'Portsmouth Football Club has NOT been formally served with a winding up petition', yet later on they go on to say they can't understand this action by the HMRC.

Which is it then? Have they or haven't they served the order?

Pure comedy - they don't seem to know that a petition has been formally served even though they dispute it and don't seem to know if the VAT, PAYE and NI contributions have been paid or if they "are about to be paid"....presumably from the sales proceeds of their players...assuming the buying clubs don't decide that now is a great time to re-negotiate....or if there is any NI and PAYE to pay this month...... which if there isn't means the players haven't been paid again and can therefore leave for free.

I've never visited the place, but it sounds horrible! Despite all the money that's flowed through the club in recent seasons, it seems not a penny has been lavished on the stadium itself (Recaro seats excluded, these are obviously important for any self respecting, big club).

Oh make no mistake, FP is one of the worst football grounds in the country. The facilities for away supporters are practically nonexistent. It doesn't deserve Premier League football or any football in the Football League for that matter.

It's a dreadful place to spend precious time which you'll never get back.

But they do want a court hearing to force HMRC to withdraw their demands.......... Those will be the demands they haven't been formally notified of :D

This is just pure comedy at its best. :smt044 We deny that its happened  & want to go to court to get it withdrawn. :D

Have you just employed Chemical Alli as your spokesman. You cant have it both ways you've either not had a winding up petition, which case you don't need to worry. Or you have & want it withdrawn. CLUCK CLUCK GIBBER GIBBER GIBBER.

This is a crisis, in fact if you've got a moment Baldrick its a 12 story crisis, with a magnificent entrance hall carpeting throughout, & an enormous sign on the roof saying this is a large Crisis.

Panic over, skates can breathe a sigh of relief.

The club say they think HRMC have made some sort of mistake (JUst on sky sports) and that it will be withdrawn in a couple of days.

....... bit like the transfer embargo

what puzzles me, is that this was issued before Christmas - surely they would have known about it since then?

so why haven't they tried to fight it before now?

This was from Sky Sports about an hour ago for those who missed it.

Pretty much explains everything.

James HADDOCK that is F**KING hilarious. Also that interview with the first fan. Just waiting for the money to come through from abroad then it will all be all-right. They really are sticking there heads in the sand. When will they wake up & smell the coffee?

Yeh, it's diffuclt bringing money in from abroad apparently; I guess you have to stand in line at customs for a long time etc.

Also, and I laughed.....on talk sport AD read out an e-mail from a 'lady' in Skatesmouth, saying that the likes of John Terry etc, should all donate a weeks wages to save her club. I nearly crashed the car laughing!!!!!:D

What like all their players did when we were in admin LMFAO

Hope they dont go out of business just relegated and have no money next year after the firesale of players from relegation

Actually, if you read it properly PFC are up to date with HMRC to Nov 09. This demand is for this month (ie Dec 09's) money! We're also up to date with payments to Watford - next installments are due in Jan.

As for you Bexy, wash your mouth out with soap.

If HMRC have put in a winding up petition then you have missed the December payment. I'd be amazed if they had done it in anticipation of a missed payment.

The club's installment deal with HMRC will have been formally agreed in writing and they have missed a payment. "The cheque is in the post" / "dificulties in setting up a new account" won't wash with HMRC.

You may be correct but why would they issue a winding up order for Decembers tax a week before the end of the month?? I doesn`t make sense. What about the money that you owe for Glen Johnson, even though you have since sold him on. You are almost making it sound like "this is all one big mistake"!

The payment will have been due on the 19th or so and when it wasn't received in went the petition.

(IMO)

Yes, but everyone (in Portsmouth) knows that it takes months to import money from offshore :)

"VAT, PAYE and National Insurance Contributions which either have been, or are about to be paid, or are disputed."[/Quote]

So "the cheque is in the post"? Nice try.

Good luck with that.

I'll be watching their match with Arsenal tonight with interest, I'm sure their reaction is going to be 'warm' if the owner turns up...

They seem to want Gold and Sullivan to take over...if they're sensible business types, they will see that investing in Pompey isn't worthwhile at all!! West Ham are likely to be much more profitable.

Or, they want to start AFC Skatesmouth with Westwood as a director...ROFL etc.

What exactly is so difficult about clearing previous debts? Liebherr managed it fairly quickly. Write a cheque, hand it over, pleasure doing business with ya.

their problem is that they have debts to anyone and everyone in football, so it's pretty much a mangled mess.

With us we only really had the stadium debt, which was held by Barclays, so it was a ''simpler'' process to sort out.

This will take a brave person.

The scary thing for Pompey is the ground is secured on a loan to Chanrai who is business partners with an Israeli property developer. Also the land around it is still owned by Gaydamak.

Could they actually want them to go pop so they can build something decent, like a car park, on Crap Nottarf?

Someone needs to tell the Pompey Board a winding up order is not a wind up, it's the real thing.

If things are as serious as it seems, I expect the club to go into Administration within the next fortnight.

If they pass that period then some idiot has decided to bail them out again but why would they when they can use that money to pick up a debt free CCC club that Portsmouth will then aspire to. I say aspire because the alternative is extinction

As the Pompey supporters say

?????
