Pompey Takeover Saga

Any proper experts out there who can give us some detail on where this is likely to go?

It must be a serious development, don't other creditors now have the opportunity to join the revenue's action and increase the pressure to pay?

They could then need to find £30M by Feb....

They can certainly choose to support the petition if they wish but it is complicated as it will depend on what is driving each creditor as to what they will do.

Let's have some respect for the man, he's answered the called to be spoken to. Just a shame he hasn't grown up at all. Although I feel this would be more apt:

They can certainly choose to support the petition if they wish but it is complicated as it will depend on what is driving each creditor as to what they will do.

That's exactly the thing - in theory every creditor will be paid in full as long as Pompey remain a going concern, they still have money coming into the business and steps are being taken that will mean they start making a profit by offloading the high-wage earners. If Pompey remain in the Premier League next season then they will probably be okay. But if the creditors pull the plug now then they will certainly not get all their money back.

HMRC aren't in the same position, they would like all their money for sure, but they are owed billions from businesses all the time and their number one priority is to put the fear of god into any business thinking of not paying what they owe. In the long run that'll get them more income than being seen as a soft touch. Hence they will often be the first creditor to go down the winding up petition route.

PMSL. Good to see the fans of the "family club" showing their class over the plight of their neighbours. You're such a bunch of girly hypocrites. No doubt Nick Nack will be trying to justify his glee at Pompey's situation by saying we laughed at you going into admin when anyone on here knows that most Pompey supporters were pretty supportive of you. Even me, unbelievably

Don't know why Clapham and Nick Nack are so interested in what I'd say. I've said from the start of the season that we'd be relegated due to that clown Fahim's actions in the summer so it's not exactly news, is it. As for whether winning the cup was worth it, it bears no relation really. We're in this situation because Gaydamak didn't pay back loans.

If you want to know what I feel, my worry is that the club will cease to exist and will be liquidated so the ****s now in charge can develop the land. But before you laugh too loudly, just think, Liebherr's undoubtedly bought you as an investment to punt on for a profit at some point. You've got no say in who buys you and someone could come in and do the same to you as they've done to PFC.

Happy new year girls and if we stay in business maybe we'll spank you 4 - 1 again next year in the chumpionship.

Awwwww poor Corpy.

Does this also mean he's found a new job? He only posts when he's working. This is because he's a big shot executive and so has lots of spare time on his hands whilst at work.

I've already found the new job you dozy ****, that's why my current (soon to be ex) employers put me on garden leave. I just popped on to see you girls' excited reaction to the winding up order. I'm just passing a bit of time before setting off for the Arsenal game tonight. Who knows, it might be our last one. :(

Thanks for your kind words everyone. I didn't realise I was still so popular. :D. However, I'm not bitter at all. Just resigned to relegation and hoping that the club somehow get rid of the ****s who own it and manage to stay afloat.

Oh what a suprise.. I said earlier that that fluff piece in the Guardian was the usual spiel we get when there are problems.... lowe (spit) and behold... the Tax man pulls the rug from under them...

They are proper fcked... the fact they had an agreed timetable in place to pay back what the owed (a second chance) with the Tax man and fcked it up means HMRC are going for the jugular....

I think not going into admin will be a longer, more drawn out & amusing outcome over the next few weeks. It is in none of the creditors' interests to see it happen - ie Chenrai, Gaydamak, the agents, Watford etc, but they are all going to squeeze & squeeze what they can get out of it now the writing is so clearly on the wall. Hopefully a monumental firesale to keep them at bay, then when every last fixture & fitting has been flogged off in the middle of April, admin finally happens, thus guaranteeing -10 for next year in CCC. However, winding up day is a day after my birthday so I could live with that I guess. (Though if I'm honest I don't want them to vanish, just for the natural order of things to be restored)

If they do that, and can get rid of the **** supporters it will indeed be a remarkable clean sweep.

0% balance transfer for 12 months , subject to transfer embargo being lifted

Brilliant... !!!

All they've got to do is pay off all their debts with a credit card, then when that bill comes in pay it off with another card.

Hang on though..... perhaps that's what they've been doing all along. :p

Actually, if you read it properly PFC are up to date with HMRC to Nov 09. This demand is for this month (ie Dec 09's) money! We're also up to date with payments to Watford - next installments are due in Jan.

As for you Bexy, wash your mouth out with soap.

We believe you Corp, you've never, ever, ever been wrong, especially with you getting info from a well placed insider who you see socially every two weeks or so.

You may be correct but why would they issue a winding up order for Decembers tax a week before the end of the month?? I doesn`t make sense. What about the money that you owe for Glen Johnson, even though you have since sold him on. You are almost making it sound like "this is all one big mistake"!

The point is that on 23rd December, PFC were issued with a winding up petition from HMRC, on 29th December Mark Jacob decided to spin a **** and bull story to the Guardian about how PFC's financial problems were behind them.

Either Jacob doesn't know what he's talking about or he's a liar. Either way it doesn't bode well for PFC.

I don't want Pompey to disappear entirely, but it is enjoyable watching the most stupid set of directors (and that includes our previous lot) play the Iraqi Minister of Information.

Following on from PES's earlier debate with others regarding the relative merits (or otherwise) of SMS and FP, I happened to be leafing through a paper-based fanzine for one of the "big four" Prem teams, who visited FP earlier this season. The following article from that fanzine provides a view of the facilities at FP and also backs up PES's view on SMS.

Mods - I'm not sure on the rules with reproducing this so please let me know if not OK and I'll delete straight away.

Sh*t Hole

Well this season's visit to Portsmouth is over and done with, thank f*ck. While 'traditional' grounds generally have much more going for them than the souless identikit new stadia like 'Boro, Southampton, Derby or Leicester, the one at Pompey really is the pits. For readers who haven't had the delight of going there, the visiting fans' entrance is down a narrow, overcrowded, litter- and graffiti-strewn back alley that had just four turnstiles. The bog is halfway up a flight of steep steps and takes no more than half a dozen people at a time, the single refreshment kiosk is half the size of a hotdog van and access to the seating area is along a narrow passage at the back of the stand which is no more than two persons wide. Apart from putting a roof over the end and converting the turnstiles to bar code readers, nothing looks to have been improved for donkeys years.

I've never visited the place, but it sounds horrible! Despite all the money that's flowed through the club in recent seasons, it seems not a penny has been lavished on the stadium itself (Recaro seats excluded, these are obviously important for any self respecting, big club).

Which team was that from then? Liverpool after getting beaten? Or the prawn sarnie lot from Surrey?

That's all OK then I'll stick my fingers in my ears & sing LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA loudly then it wont have happened.

Who the f**k do these clowns think their kidding, you know I'm almost (but not quite) feeling sorry for them. :D

"To date the new owner has injected a total of £9.7m of new funds to HMRC - £5.7m paid and security to the value of £4M."

Who writes this stuff? It's as though they're making out that PFC is investing in HMRC! And what on earth does 'security' mean? My understanding is that HMRC isn't in the habit of accepting bogus business opportunities in lieu of a big fat cheque.
