Just on ITN News.....pompey player firesale.

 

They understand that talks are at an advanced stage for the sale and/or loaning of their top players to other prem clubs.

Just got back from the match, Great atmosphere, superb away support, Fantastic Pompey performance and cracking game, gives me confidence that Pompey will easily stay up this year. After we slaughter Blunderland, bring on the scummers time to put you all in your place, with the embargo about to be lifted and Shiek Maktoum waiting in the wings things are looking rosy. I understand your post was sarcastic, but there are limits of what we can swallow!!!!!!!

Hadn't seen that - I wonder what happened to all the "We don't need to sell" bluster. I reckon they know that the PL won't lift the embargo, so they'll have to sell players to pay off some debts and then (maybe) get it lifted. Even then, they'll have sod all to spend and nothing to pay salaries with, so they'll have a pretty hard job getting any new players in anyway.

There is no doubt in my mind that if they play like that... even with their better players sold off, they will be able to secure a league POSITION by the end of the season.

Could they take Ferdinand (or any other player) in part exchange with the embargo in place? I assume the embargo applies to registering any additional players to play for Pompey until it is lifted.

Is that the total figure for gate receipts, merchandise etc? In which case has he just taken out in £27m of loans (on behalf of the club) whilst taking the £13m of club income out?

Why would a bank (allegedly) be prepared to put in £35 million in August, then six weeks later not give them a penny? I suspect Gaydamak didn't believe they really ever had it which is why he went with the Clown in the first place

I think it is pretty clear that he went with SBT simply because he believed that they had found a foolproof methodolgy to hide the identity of the real owner and money man.

 

Munto Finance showed it was possible to simply "not exist" but to get approved as a club owner.

 

Again, the research and effort needed to set up a "shell company" to hide a beneficial owner is simple, remember I posted ages ago about how in the days of leveraged deals even I could have bought Saints with no money (like the glazers/Hicks/Gillet did). My issue was nobody would have believed it was me (it would have been a bank loan)

 

So part of the mess is that they thought they had hidden the man who wanted to move his (allegedly ill gained) assets away from the jurisdiction of his ex country. My guess is that they'd done it before and thought it was easy. It wasn't.

 

So my guess is that yes SBT did have the cash. Unfortunately he managed to c8ck up the cover up and the PL quietly wouldn't let him use it.

I think the reference to 'recouping' would be recouping a loan on behalf of someone else, Chanrai perhaps?

Interesting in that his main defence is that he avoided paying 10K in tax but that because prosecuting him for it will cost a lot more than that it should not happen....

 

Mandaric said the figure was closer to "$50,000 which is taxable, which is around £25,000, and 40% of that is £10,000. That is what we're talking about. The cost and expense [of the investigation, which started in April 2007] and all this aggravation and unfairness is far more than £10,000 that someone will have to pay. There is no correlation between the two. I just hope that one of these days someone will wake up and say 'What the hell is going in here?' And I know that will happen because there is no wrongdoing here."

 

Umm, has he not just admitted that $50K was taxable but he did not pay the tax? Sounds like wrong doing to me. Also by his logic shops might as well put up signs saying "If you shoplift anything under 100 quid it will cost us more to take you to court so please go ahead".
