GenevaSaint Posted 21 August, 2009 Posted 21 August, 2009 http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/david-conn-inside-sport-blog/2009/aug/20/peter-storrie-sulaiman-al-fahim-portsmouth Some very good snippets in this article, especially about Storrie teller! When the reports began earlier this year that Pompey faced a fire sale of players this summer, Storrie denied it. When I talked to him at the end of the season, he said that as the club had survived in the Premier League, the TV and other money the club would receive meant the pressure was largely off and they would have to sell only one player this summer
Torres Posted 21 August, 2009 Posted 21 August, 2009 Corp used to be really good at getting bites, now we just laugh at him. He's turned from being amusing to be, quite frankly, rather dull and sad. His record of being wrong about, well quite frankly, everything is known to us all. My fav' was how the flats that were deffo going to be built at FP would pay for the new ground that was deffo going ahead. IIRC that was on the old S4E. When, shown the facts of the costings on S4E, he insisted he was right and it was deffo going to happen. 6 years later...... Oh, happy days. I did a little research and the proft that Pompey would have had to mkae on each flat in order to pay for their new ground was more than double the margins that the most successful building and development compnaies in the UK do. Was definately going to happen though - Corp said so. lol.

GenevaSaint Posted 21 August, 2009 Posted 21 August, 2009 What I don't "get" about this though, the club has been up for sale since December, why are these groups now allegedly getting interested? Bit odd surely?
angelman Posted 21 August, 2009 Posted 21 August, 2009 While I do hope that Po*pey find some stability, I really can't see what the attraction of buying the club is, especially given its financial status. Can anyone honestly (and seriously) tell me the attraction of buying PFC?

Corporate Ho Posted 21 August, 2009 Posted 21 August, 2009 You really do come across as being one of the saddest posters on here. You knew all along that Storrie was getting a bid together but never stated anything, merely hinted that something, somewhere was on the way. You're not Mystic Meg are you? lol You disappear for weeks when made to look stupid or have no answer and now all of a sudden you knew all along about Pompey's takeover. You just happened to not be on this messageboard for two weeks and just happened to know about the Storrie bid but decided to not to tell us.. Are you that desperate to be seen as being important or ITK that you feel the desperate need to impress fans of your club's most bitter rivals? Talk about sad, needy and pathetic... Only one of the saddest posters on here, not the saddest? Blimey BIG DAZZA, there will be a few posters now wondering shich ones you think are sadder than me. Bet there will be some soul searching going on. No BIG DAZZA, I didn't know "all along" that Storrie was putting a bid together, I found out last Friday when I made that post. And no, I'm not ITK at all, I just get told some pieces of info by a friend in a fairly senior position at PFC who's in a position to know what goes on. And seeing as how much your fans like to talk about Pompey on here I thought you'd all be interested. As for me disappearing for weeks, could you scumlettes make your minds up. Apparently I'm always on here or I'm always disappearing. Can we decide which one it is. For the last time BIG LOVELORN DAZZA I only post on here when I'm in the office. I'm only in the office 2 -3 days a week. I don't post on here at weekends or when I'm on holiday and I sometimes spend a week or so working in one of our foreign offices and don't post when I'm doing that either. For the record (especially for BIG DAZZA's lapdog Nick Nack) I'm on holiday for the next three weeks after today. That means I'm back on Mon 14th Sep if you'd like to put it in your diaries. As posted before... they have debts, are loss making, require investment in the playing squad, stadium and playing facilities. They are however a premier league club and that will always stir some interest. I guess one of the reasons, despite Clapham's protestations, is that we have reduced our debts considerably since the accounts he keeps quoting. The players we've sold mean our wage bill has had at least £20m a year wiped off it, possibly quite a bit more. Most reports now seem to estimate debts at around £20m which must be one of the lowest in the Prem. Add in the fact that Gaydamak wants to get rid and we're a cheap way for someone to buy a Prem club. Yes we need a new stadium but (again despite what many on here say) a couple of supermarket chains and the FA are willing to contribute towards that cost. SKY money obviously is an attraction too.

rallyboy Posted 21 August, 2009 Posted 21 August, 2009 Some simpletons still believe that the recent transfer money in has been going to the club. Like the massive wages, it is all going out of the game, the club debts are still significant, all that has changed is the diminishing value of the business. The wage bill looks better than it did but the family silver has gone, there is little value left, other than the potential to generate Sky money, if indeed Sky continue at their current levels. If that halts, the business is getting on for worthless - some bits of land (worth less at the mo), and a shaky infrastructure? We fell from grace, so have Newcastle, Norwich, Derby etc, but the difference is we all have value beyond our league status. Prem survival is the only way the business known as PFC can be viable - so, I still believe they may have just ten days to save the club from a huge plummet.....

Corporate Ho Posted 21 August, 2009 Posted 21 August, 2009 For a while we had fans expecting Jackson's Farm to bail us out. It didn't. A car park isn't going to pay for a new stadium. No, but the one at Fratton will pay for 70% of the expansion of the current ground and if (a very big if I grant you) the Horsea project ever gets under way (which depends on many things, including the FA winning the 2018 world cup bid) then a supermarket is apparently likely to be involved with some funding there too, along with the FA. Do you still dispute that we've reduced debts and that the wages we've saved are around the £20m mark Clapham? You've gone very quiet on the topic lately you're always on here when things are good for Pompey but disappear when things are bad. Well, they're certainly good times at the moment Nick Nack. Lots of players sold, played two and lost two, sitting in the bottom three and facing Arsenal away tomorrow. But I'll be sure to disappear when things start to go bad. Some simpletons still believe that the recent transfer money in has been going to the club Who believes that then? The transfer money has gone to reducing debts.

Clapham Saint Posted 21 August, 2009 Posted 21 August, 2009 No, but the one at Fratton will pay for 70% of the expansion of the current ground and if (a very big if I grant you) the Horsea project ever gets under way (which depends on many things, including the FA winning the 2018 world cup bid) then a supermarket is apparently likely to be involved with some funding there too, along with the FA. Do you still dispute that we've reduced debts and that the wages we've saved are around the £20m mark Clapham? You've gone very quiet on the topic lately Of course you have reduced the debts, you've sold £100m odd of players. I don't believe you've reduced them to the extent that you do because much of the transfer fees won't have have been received in full yet. You also fail to take account of the fact that your debts haven't been siting still whilst you sell players, all the time that you have been making losses your debts have been increasing. A lot of the player sales will have covered the increase in debts during the past year rather than actually reducing that those reported in the last accounts. As for the wages, again of course you have reduced your wage bill. I hsve no idea how much by though. I suspect it is less than you think however I have neither the time nor the inclenation to bother to go through the sales and count it up. You are happy to list the salaries of the players which have left but you forget that you are also paying salaries for your loan players which will partially off set you figures. Well, they're certainly good times at the moment Nick Nack. Lots of players sold, played two and lost two, sitting in the bottom three and facing Arsenal away tomorrow. But I'll be sure to disappear when things start to go bad. You know what he means. Every time you have something to be optimistic about (transfer rumour threads, Storie consortium etc) you show up, every time things don't look so good you go awol. Who believes that then? The transfer money has gone to reducing debts. That which has been received will have gone partly on reducing debts and partly on running costs. We sold dyer not long ago to help fund wages. Where do you suppose that you wage bill is being paid from at the moment? I think it very unlikely that Barclays are allowing you to extend your overdraft so some of the transfer funds will have to be held back from paying back debts in order to cover your running costs. Given that come the end of August you will have to pay August, September, October, November and December wages before you can raisae any more cash by selling players do you think that Storie has spent all of your transfer income on reducing debt? If he has then you really are f**ked as gates of 18,000 aren't going to cover your running costs until January. Premier league income is covered by a debenture in favour of Standard Chartered so don't think that will save you. Anyway, bickering aside, have a good holiday.

How much MORE value do you have at this time than us? Don't kid us about the busted flush of an academy- that clearly produces nothing these days as last season painfully illustrated. I don't think a stadium's aesthetic really comes into the equation when it comes to value but anyway, its the sort of run of the mill flat pack IKEA style ground that you lot have been desperate to build for the last decade. Master Bates Posted 22 August, 2009 Posted 22 August, 2009 (edited) Pompey no longer train at Eastleigh, they train at King Edward VI School, Wilton Road. So Pompey no longer train at Eastleigh, they train at King Edward VI School. To train, Portsmouth use the facilities of the King Edward VI School. This may not matter - they won the FA Cup from here - but when manager Paul Hart sat in a schoolboy-sized changing room yesterday and spoke of Arsenal, he described them as a club 'with a structure'. Not a lot else is there? A middling history, no major honours to speak of, so what "value beyond our league status" do you REALLY have? One word. Infrastructure. I think the best analogy here is (appropriately enough) construction. We currently don't have much built to speak of. What we do have though is a good site location and rock foundations on which to start building. You on the other hand have a fairly impressive building. It used to be 5 stories larger, however because it is built on sand it was about to fall down and you have had to demolish the top floors to prevent total collapse. Until you have a stadium, a training ground and premier league standard facilities this will continue and you will forever be papering over the cracks. Sooner or later everything will come crashing down around you. It is inevitable.
spyinthesky Posted 22 August, 2009 Posted 22 August, 2009 It's the same ground they've always trained on, it's just that the owners of the land have changed. Whenever you get caught out, which is often, you disappear for days on on end but suddenly find the time to post when things go your way. It's because you only work 2-3 days a week and only post when at work??? lolol Oh the smell of bullsheet is almost overpowering! The takeover is a joke and is in disarray, you disappear. The takeover is on, you're all over this board like a rash. It's sign, not that you're a busy office employee but a sad no mark who sulks when he's found out and doesn't have the balls to debate when things aren't going your way. And you didn't answer the point did you? You knew nothing, you told us nothing about the takeover only that something someday was going to happen! You're so in the know it's frightening! lolol So big Dazza me all you want... I'm sat here laughing at you... You sad pathetic little man lol Oh, and as you only post at work, you obviously work Thursdays and Fridays as you posted twice yesterday and three times on thursday, but for some strange reason you must have popped into the office on Monday and Wednesday as you posted three times a day then! 1200 -1600 on Monday and 1250 and one in the morning on Wednsday. Wow what hours you must work!! Corp h pwned again!

Colinjb Posted 22 August, 2009 Posted 22 August, 2009 been away for a week, gather from ceefax they have had good news - what's the summary? Are they pleased with latest? Storrie has cobbled together a consortium of some nature because Al-Fahim is taking too long. That's basically it. Are they pleased? I'm sure they will lets us know (On here of all places!) if they are.
