Saint Mikey Posted 7 July, 2020 Posted 7 July, 2020 Didn't hear this mentioned by the commentators (although didn't watch the whole game), but it was good to see an-ex skate/plucky hero - Simon Eastwood, save the decisive penalty!

Chez Posted 7 July, 2020 Posted 7 July, 2020 McGeehan broke his leg whilst playing for Luton at Shit Park and was booed by the skates whilst being stretchered off. Missing the vital pen and providing the long awaited karma three and a half years later shows incredible patience on his behalf, but well worth the wait. Well done sir. 6

Depressed of Shirley Posted 8 July, 2020 Posted 8 July, 2020 Over on the Ugly Inside website, Nick Illingsworth's review of the league one play off second leg is pure genius.

Saint_clark Posted 8 July, 2020 Posted 8 July, 2020 Tip them for relegation next season with the salary cap coming in and most of their players out of contract anyway. They'll be scrambling to put a squad together cheaply in time to start the new season, with no cohesion or knowledge of the tactics required.
mack rill Posted 8 July, 2020 Posted 8 July, 2020 feckin dumb scumma we haven't had cohesion or tactics for the last 8 years,,,where the feck you been? 1

Weston Super Saint Posted 9 July, 2020 Posted 9 July, 2020 Wigan - the Portsmouth of the North. Is that as blatant a case of money laundering that is ever likely to be witnessed? One Hong Kong business owner (who owns a no-mark football club in the North) is owed money by another Hong Kong 'business' man who buys the club for £40m thus settling the debt and washing £40m worth of money in an instant. A month later the new owner puts the club into administration because his debt is paid and he really doesn't want the hassle of running a football club or paying out more money! Fishier than Pompey docks if you ask me!
Wes Tender Posted 9 July, 2020 Posted 9 July, 2020 11 hours ago, Dark Munster said: "Revenge is a dish best served cold." It was also perfect that the only goal saved in the penalty shoot-out was by the Skates ex-keeper, and that the equalising goal that took the match to the penalty shoot-out was an own goal scored by Portsmouth. I can still remember the hurt caused by the own goal scored by Leon Best against Derby in the play-offs all those years ago, so having one of your own do so much to assist your promotion failure has got to hurt.
Badger Posted 9 July, 2020 Posted 9 July, 2020 So how long will they give Jackett ? I think he'll be out pretty soon. Just hope they don't try and appoint Adkins.

Surely that will be a positive for them. They wont have their wages to pay over the summer and there is going to be a big pool of free agents to choose from. I would suggest they wil come out stronger not weaker due to that
stevegrant Posted 10 July, 2020 Posted 10 July, 2020 Palace appear to be buying Alex Bass, their keeper who flapped and allowed Oxford's equaliser on Monday, so that'll probably ease a few financial issues. Talk of £2m, somehow.

Gingeletiss Posted 14 July, 2020 Posted 14 July, 2020 So, how did they fair in the play off final.............Oh! that's right, they didn't get through 🤣

When you mention 'pack', do you really mean 'getting close to half full'?
stevegrant Posted 14 July, 2020 Posted 14 July, 2020 Judging by the replies, this seems to be a bit of a blow. Oops.
S-Clarke Posted 14 July, 2020 Posted 14 July, 2020 (edited) Looks like quite a few of their squad are being plucked off and heading elsewhere. Going to be tough for them and every other club below the prem IMO. Edited 14 July, 2020 by S-Clarke

Mystic Force Posted 15 July, 2020 Posted 15 July, 2020 Pompey were only half filling the stadium so they could practice social distancing ahead of time, its called forward thinking. Or maybe it was just awkward if you keep bumping into your cousin you slept with the night before.....

The counter argument to this is that towns like Fleetwood and Accrington are right shitholes and that no right minded person would want to live there. Portsmouth on the other hand is .... Sorry, I see the flaw in my argument. Edited 22 July, 2020 by Tamesaint 1
OldNick Posted 22 July, 2020 Posted 22 July, 2020 it is a fair point, but they have spent on higher wages and still haven't taken advantage of that. I assume all clubs in the South could have the same argument and so he may get some backing.
