Saint86 Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 How are Portsmouth's finances? Can't imagine this will be good news for them! Really pleased for Oxford.
saint1977 Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 My wish came true. That flatbed cab and accompanying convoy will be full Asda Smart Price lager cans, copies of Fishing Weekly and used Kleenex. Excellent 24 hours of football.
trousers Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 FFS! Yet another year goes by without the prospect of the added pleasure of seeing them struggle in the Championship
LGTL Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 Fucking hilarious. What a season it’s been for them. Utter humiliation at our hands and a League 1 play off defeat (again) on pens.
alehouseboys Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 Oh well, another long season in the third division...

Shroppie Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 Pleased that we're keeping the socially distanced two leagues apart. 1
SW5 SAINT Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 They must have been banking on the tv money for next season. Now they must be planning for crowds of about 4K for next season.......
Jimmy_D Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 I guess now they'll be playing Phil Collins on the coach back to Pompey... No Jackett Required. 1

CB Fry Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 I feel really sorry for their fanbase at this difficult time.
Manuel Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 Well, they're in the league that probably suits their level. A season ending in a good effort in the playoffs. They should be satisfied with that.

suewhistle Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 I am so tempted to lift that and send it to a few people, but in the interests of community relations and living in a PO postcode I'd better not...
igsey Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 (edited) Hahahahahaha! Already getting their "we didn't actually WANT to get promoted" excuses in on reddit: Quote "Always had the impression that the Eisners had a three year plan to get to the championship. They might be a little relieved to be able to build infrastructure on their timeline." Edited 6 July, 2020 by igsey
Dark Munster Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 Beautiful city, Oxford. Lots of very bright people there too, of course. Time to dust off this annual picture for our fishy friends.

eurosaint Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 The gulf in class is immense ! These last two days have illustrated just far apart we are.... Deep joy 👍
SW5 SAINT Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 Let’s hope a couple of really tough teams come down - Middlesbrough, Stoke maybe.....
Golden Balls Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 Twitter reacting how you’d expect. Should have had 3 pens and Oxford should have had 2 reds so all the refs fault. The pompey job is the hardest in football and of course, they don’t want to go up anyway. how long have the been in the bottom 2 divisions now? A decade? Genuinely think theyll be in financial difficulties again soon.
LGTL Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 They’ve been in the bottom 2 divisions for 9 years now. They’re pathetic. This year more then ever they needed promotion. Overspent as usual, and thanks to Covid, there’s a very real chance that the gap between Championship and League 1 gets even greater. You love to see it.

rallyboy Posted 6 July, 2020 Posted 6 July, 2020 I'll tell you this for nothing, unlike major financial institutions let's give them some credit - they had a decent season, a memorable cup run, that i'll never forget, and were only beaten by a bigger team tonight. It's not like they play dinosaur hoofball from Division Four in 1975, their loyal fans have had great entertainment along the way. 1
Shroppie Posted 7 July, 2020 Posted 7 July, 2020 They've got 8 players out of contract and 4 loanees returning. Leaving a core of about 4 on which to build.

Joey-deacons-left-nut Posted 7 July, 2020 Posted 7 July, 2020 Isn't the coming season the one with the £2.5m wage cap for squad salaries in League One? I think Pompey's current total is £3.5-£4m at the moment.....
