rallyboy Posted 18 October, 2018 Posted 18 October, 2018 However Mr Farmery called claims that 'scummers' came from broken strikes as an ‘urban myth'. He explained said: ‘There is no documentation evidence of the origins (of scummers) particularly. ‘I think the most likely explanation is that it was a term invented in the 60s or 70s as a term for Southampton supporters and people from the city in general and it caught on. ‘There is no evidence that it originates from dockyards and shipping. It very much seems to be an urban myth. #notnews Next you'll be telling us that you don't bring £13m into the city every home game.

I'm sure that if it is anything to do with Portsmouth it will be the previous club - nothing to do with the current incarnation that happens to share the same name.
geordiesaint Posted 30 October, 2018 Posted 30 October, 2018 I'm sure that if it is anything to do with Portsmouth it will be the previous club - nothing to do with the current incarnation that happens to share the same name. Ah yes, of course
Golden Balls Posted 30 October, 2018 Posted 30 October, 2018 Would be a very typical of that lot. In other news, a player of theirs I’ve never heard of is currently worth £40m according to the blue few. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Danbert Posted 30 October, 2018 Posted 30 October, 2018 "Mr Wallace told the MPs it can take years for investigations into money laundering to be finished." Wasn't there supposed to be some forensic examination of the accounts and a report due out a year or two ago that never arrived? I bet it's them under investigation.
Danbert Posted 30 October, 2018 Posted 30 October, 2018 Oh, and they have the best fans in the world, the extremely articulate Accrington Stanley boss says so: Their fans are very educated football people, they don't see things through one eye, which in recent weeks we've probably experienced that away from home, so they don't see it with tinted glasses. WTF?
Pamplemousse Posted 31 October, 2018 Posted 31 October, 2018 https://news.sky.com/story/security-minister-reveals-knowledge-of-football-money-laundering-investigation-11540039 I wonder... Oh I hope so, this thread needs a boost of some kind. I remember when we got through multiple pages in one day, now it's one page every couple of months.
OldNick Posted 5 November, 2018 Posted 5 November, 2018 To be even handed we must congratulate Pompey for their progress. We pop at them when things arent goingwelland they disappear, we should keep to the moral high ground and mention their good results. It ruined my week end but ...
rallyboy Posted 6 November, 2018 Posted 6 November, 2018 Nick's partially correct - there's only one team to laugh at right now. But let's remember that they are competing against scout groups and service stations in a division that has now become slightly less competitive than the Dockyard League. At this rate we'll get to see how good they really are at SMS next season.

Ruined your weekend - I was bloody there watching them and listening to the bloody bell for an hour and a half....! Have to say I wasn't that impressed, with a little more composure Bradford could easily have got something out of the game, there really wasn't a great deal between the sides.

Golden Balls Posted 8 November, 2018 Posted 8 November, 2018 Player sent to Portsmouth as a punishment: https://talksport.com/football/443278/premier-league-vincent-pericard-portsmouth-juventus/ Christ I forgot he used to play for us. On another note, I was chatting with someone from the Fratton RBL yesterday when buying a poppy. Lovely lady to be fair. But what is it with the “people went to war from this city” thing? Do they think they won the war on their own? And correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure more soldiers passed through Southampton docks than Portsmouth. Especially in the build up to the Normandy landings. Not to mention our history regarding the Spitfire. They really do believe their own hype on everything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pamplemousse Posted 10 November, 2018 Posted 10 November, 2018 Will we see a cupset? Could be quite funny if they lose at lowly Maidenhead, battling relegation from the National League. Should be a convincing victory for the blue few.
Pamplemousse Posted 10 November, 2018 Posted 10 November, 2018 Apparently they're coming for us, hilarious.
mack rill Posted 10 November, 2018 Posted 10 November, 2018 Apparently they're coming for us, hilarious. Not quite as hilarious as it was at 14.17:rolleyes: now tell what's all this about giving sparky the keys to the city?
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 10 November, 2018 Posted 10 November, 2018 Apparently they're coming for us, hilarious. Hope not, they stink
skintsaint Posted 11 November, 2018 Posted 11 November, 2018 Setting themselves up for an almighty fall thinking they are set for promotion and its only November.
Pamplemousse Posted 11 November, 2018 Posted 11 November, 2018 They've got a tricky run of games in December, let's see where they are at the start of 2019. I'm still sticking to my prediction that they'll only make the play-offs.
Golden Balls Posted 12 November, 2018 Posted 12 November, 2018 BT Sport forgot to mention the biggest club in the world with their huge game against Maidenhead. The horror! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pamplemousse Posted 12 November, 2018 Posted 12 November, 2018 Top of League 1 and they have delusions of grandeur all of a sudden. They're in for a shock next season, no doubt their fans will want to emulate our back-to-back promotion success but I reckon they'll find things a bit tougher.
rooney Posted 12 November, 2018 Posted 12 November, 2018 Other club's fans are not interested in travelling away to the massive Fratton Park once they have seen it and been to the Stadium of Light.
LGTL Posted 12 November, 2018 Posted 12 November, 2018 Rochdale away in the 2nd round. All L1 affair. The perfect opportunity as usual for them to bottle the chance of a big day with their neighbours.
Highfield Saint Posted 13 November, 2018 Posted 13 November, 2018 Christ I forgot he used to play for us. I’m pretty sure more soldiers passed through Southampton docks than Portsmouth. Especially in the build up to the Normandy landings. Not to mention our history regarding the Spitfire. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk There is a plaque next to the Bargate commemorating the fact that 3m allied troops left Southampton to fight in the second World War. Songs of Praise at the weekend celebrating "Our great port city of Southampton" (their words not mine) said that 8m left or returned to Southampton in the first World War. They also majored on the Spitfire being designed and built in the city and how the war wouldn't have been won without this effort
rallyboy Posted 17 November, 2018 Posted 17 November, 2018 Owners of Portsmouth News are going into administration.

LGTL Posted 17 November, 2018 Posted 17 November, 2018 I wonder if they'll also **** over cancer charities, fund child killers and screw over the local community, and then create a brand new newspaper but claim they're still the same?
