Pamplemousse Posted 17 January, 2017 Posted 17 January, 2017 I miss those days. I spent the hours in between lectures at university browsing this thread. The numerous court proceedings, along with the Pompey News webchats, were superb fun. I kind of want them to get a couple of promotions and then for it to go wrong again. The only thing missing is a victory against them. 12 years and counting, that's half my lifetime!

Pamplemousse Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Pompey fans on twitter getting excited because they've signed (another) striker from Hampton and Richmond “Coming from non-league and now signing for a club like Pompey, life’s going to completely change. “I’ve quit my job as a car salesman after four years and I will be moving down to the area. “Playing in front of 17,000 people will be the strangest thing. I’ve seen it on TV, but it’s not until I’m out there and am able to soak in the atmosphere for myself first-hand that it will all sink in. Mention how big the club is, check Mention the famous atmosphere, check No mention of how the fans are the best in the country though, so he still has a bit to learn.
trousers Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Signing a used car salesman  Not a patch on beetroot factory workers
Hatch Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Signing a used car salesman  heady days indeed
suewhistle Posted 18 January, 2017 Posted 18 January, 2017 Wonder if they'll ever sign a toy salesman? ;-)

rallyboy Posted 19 January, 2017 Posted 19 January, 2017 Does he chuck in a fresh MOT and a set of mats with every goal?
FloridaMarlin Posted 19 January, 2017 Posted 19 January, 2017 A wall of boos coming soon. Let's remember what happened to the man who invented the Wall of Sound (tenuous link alert).
trousers Posted 19 January, 2017 Posted 19 January, 2017 Wonder if they'll ever sign a toy salesman? ;-) Unlikely, now that he's moved into LED lighting...
Weston Super Saint Posted 19 January, 2017 Posted 19 January, 2017 Unlikely, now that he's moved into LED lighting... Championship standard or regular?
suewhistle Posted 19 January, 2017 Posted 19 January, 2017 Unlikely, now that he's moved into LED lighting... Really? I must have missed that. His attendance record here recently has been poor..
rallyboy Posted 19 January, 2017 Posted 19 January, 2017 He's been on a very long trek trying to rediscover his long lost street cred - Paramount bought the rights but Harrison Ford turned it down because it wasn't that successful a search.
Jonnyboy Posted 19 January, 2017 Posted 19 January, 2017 Does he chuck in a fresh MOT and a set of mats with every goal? Lol, not sure fatpipes would pass an MOT.
Danbert Posted 20 January, 2017 Posted 20 January, 2017 Bestest and most faithful fans in Universe who never boo their own players so abusive towards Portsmouth footballer that police may get involved shocker.

buctootim Posted 20 January, 2017 Posted 20 January, 2017 Championship standard or regular? Non league and council recs - he's forward planning
Chez Posted 20 January, 2017 Posted 20 January, 2017 (edited) Please tell me they have signed: "You know Paul, playing for Portsmouth is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. First, compliment the old lady excessively on the size of her fan base. Once you've been selected, be prepared to give that fan base a good hard sucking so as to ensure that she is a little more forgiving when you prove to be less than cable when performing. It's critical to find a goal quickly. This lady can be very impatient, so be prepared for your confidence to be dented should you fail to offer much penetration. If things do go well you will probably start thinking about a more an attractive alternative. At that point, its best to pull out as quickly as possible. Don't worry, that smell will eventually rub off." Edited 20 January, 2017 by Chez
rallyboy Posted 20 January, 2017 Posted 20 January, 2017 Excellent! So they have signed an international centre forward.
benjii Posted 20 January, 2017 Posted 20 January, 2017 Bestest and most faithful fans in Universe who never boo their own players so abusive towards Portsmouth footballer that police may get involved shocker. Never mind the actual subject matter; why is the standard of writing so poor at that organisation? It's abject, embarrassing stuff.
benjii Posted 20 January, 2017 Posted 20 January, 2017 "The angst shown around the ground as the Geordie lad loitered on the ball in one first-half incident was jarring. It was an instinctive, perhaps even perfectly natural, airing of frustration to the glimpse of an opening disappearing. As one shrewd observer noted, however, it’s the sort of conditions which create a self-fulfilling environment for the striker." It gets better..... "It’s the ever-decreasing circles which eventually sees [sic] a player swallowed up in a vortex of sapped morale. Reports of booing as the player took to the pitch in the second half are indefensible, however. [The reports are indefensible?] It’s evident Smith is now bereft of the confidence he gained off the back of three goals in three [matches] going into December. All the signifiers there to show it. [sic.]" 100% pure crapola.

Don't know how he and Comical Allen manage it, but they really are an insufferable pair with the way they each mangle the language in the name of prose. Edited 20 January, 2017 by TopGun
Hatch Posted 21 January, 2017 Posted 21 January, 2017 Game called off today, thats the down side of playing parks level football i guess
Golden Balls Posted 21 January, 2017 Posted 21 January, 2017 Good results for them really. Win their game in hand and they go into the automatic promotion.

The9 Posted 21 January, 2017 Posted 21 January, 2017 Pompey fans on twitter getting excited because they've signed (another) striker from Hampton and Richmond Probably the best signing they've made in ages - shows they might have worked out that they will get further signing keen younger players who've been successful lower down in the pyramid that League One mercenaries.
OttawaSaint Posted 22 January, 2017 Posted 22 January, 2017 A wall of boos coming soon. Surely the bestest fans in the galaxy don't need to be reminded to be noisy....

Gorgiesaint Posted 24 January, 2017 Posted 24 January, 2017 Just spotted this on the BBC Sportsday page [h=3]Chairman 'positive' over Morecambe future[/h] Tim Padfield Assistant editor, BBC Radio Lancashire Posted at14:30 The chairman of Morecambe Football Club has told BBC Radio Lancashire he is now positive about the future after a meeting last night. Peter McGuigan says the meeting involved board members and the club's former co-chairman - Qatari businessman Abdulrahman Al Hashemi. Mr McGuigan says the club's board is still trying to resolve serious financial issues since a takeover in September by the Brazilian businessman Diego Lemos. Yesterday it emerged that Joseph Cala had ended his interest in taking over the League Two club. Not Joseph Cala of the infamous pompey underwater casino fame? Lucky Morcambe!

buctootim Posted 26 January, 2017 Posted 26 January, 2017 Chris @PFC1224 hahhaha #saintsfc fans singing that Josh Sims is one of their own. He came through our youth academy #pompey #scummers Really? He's only 19 and been at Saints for six years. Before that he was at the Elite Training Academy. If he ever was at skates it means it was when he was a small kid and that their academy either couldnt spot his talent or weren't good enough to develop it.

Waterside.saint Posted 26 January, 2017 Posted 26 January, 2017 And soon he'll be worth more on his own than their entire shambles put together! I'd be surprised If he isn't already, their kipper shed is dangerously close to collapse if those partial stand closures are anything to go by

They lose that argument too.
