Pompey hit the post with pretty much the last kick of the game. Surprisingly I didn't near much booing, but maybe that's because it was drowned out by my laughing.

It appears it was a little more than the usual difference of opinion that often punctuates half-time intervals. Possibly facial injuries to one of the parties. When first asked about the decision to make two substitutions at half-time Cook said it was tactical, unaware that by full-time word had filtered up to the media there had been an 'incident.' When pressed about the incident he initially denied it and tried to sweep it under the carpet and move on, but eventually, he fessed up. I would not be surprised if the internal inquiry gives them the excuse they might need to jettison Cook. They can't afford to terminate the contract of the best-paid manager in League Two, but might contrive to find a way to try and get him on gross misconduct in allowing this sort of disgraceful incident which has no place in a lovely, family-friendly and fan-run club, to occur.

The9 Posted 28 November, 2016 Posted 28 November, 2016 I was also told that Cook did an interview the other week where he got narky that an interviewer told him a player would be suspended for the Luton game due to 5 bookings and he first denied it and then said "how should I know?"... well, because it's your job. In other news, Newport got stuffed 4-1 at Blackpool, mainly due to bringing on a 35-year old day-before signing and playing him for the last half hour despite missing a penalty to go 2-1 up seconds before. I'd still have Graham Westley's quirks though, made them competitive practically overnight, though how much more game time Abdoulaye Meite gets remains to be seen.

The manager and squad can take the pressure of expectation square on with unity, tactical know how and focus in their tool kit.

If pressure was such a factor it would mean that every big club would lose to every small club - until the smaller clubs became bigger as a result, then they'd draw for a bit, until one club felt bigger and started losing.

Every team everywhere turns up to win unless the disparity between the teams is so great that you know you are going to be outclassed. For an example of this, think of the smaller teams who qualify for the Rugby World Cup for example. They will go into a match against a top tier side like the All Blacks with a game plan such as 'score one try', 'limit their score below 30 points' etc because they know they just won't win so they concentrate on what is achieveable. For any skate to believe this applies to them in their THIRD SEASON in League Two is unreal. They must have their head stuffed so far up their rectum their Adam's apple must smack them in the forehead every time they swallow. It's just excuse making because the reality is far harder to deal with - they are just a small team on the south coast who were big when the Navy were in town 60 years ago but aren't any more. The eight years they managed in the noughties we're actually just a blip achieved by bent owners spending way above the clubs means.

Blackpool have been in the Premier League, Championship AND League One more recently than Portsmouth, and have one of the most well-known FA Cup wins of the 20th century, have a similar capacity of around 18,000, a much more modern ground and better facilities, and poached a manager (Michael Appleton) from the Skates only 4 years ago. You don't find any of them rambling on about how difficult it is to play there or the "weight of expectation". Of course, they only get 3,000 fans, so we all know who to blame.

In their current incarnation they will find it impossible to come near us, constrained by their own pride, arrogance and self absorbed nonsense. I do believe it's fine to forget this 'rivalry.' In footballing terms it's dead. As irrelevant as Shrewsbury v Hereford, Port Vale v Stoke. Coventry City v Leicester. It is time to move on from the Skates, they are ancient history.
