Mr Biscuits Posted 19 November, 2016 Posted 19 November, 2016 Appealing a fine on the basis that they don't agree with the rule... http://mobile.portsmouthfc.co.uk//news/article/2016-17/portsmouth-football-club-statement-on-checkatrade-trophy-3420210.aspx I assume their appeal will go something like: 'waaaah! Waaaah! Waaah! Waaah!'
buctootim Posted 19 November, 2016 Posted 19 November, 2016 Salvaging a draw with a late goal against a team who are 21st in the 4th division is a great result for resurgent Portsmouth. No really.
chocco boxo Posted 19 November, 2016 Posted 19 November, 2016 Look when we drawing with Liverpool and they are drawing with Cheltenham on the same day, it just goes to prove we have no rivals in Hampshire?
Pamplemousse Posted 19 November, 2016 Posted 19 November, 2016 A massive game at 4th place Luton on Tuesday It's already a cup-final for them. They cannot afford to slip up. 5 points already off the promotion places.
Dark Munster Posted 20 November, 2016 Posted 20 November, 2016 They actually have nothing! Which they can't afford.
Waterside.saint Posted 20 November, 2016 Posted 20 November, 2016 There's nothing the skates can't afford. Quite so, thieves in general are never troubled by price tickets
Golden Balls Posted 20 November, 2016 Posted 20 November, 2016 Good going for an Island with a supposed Community Club.

SW5 SAINT Posted 21 November, 2016 Posted 21 November, 2016 Good going for an Island with a supposed Community Club. The picture makes it look like a seaside fishing village - which maybe it is.......
Badger Posted 21 November, 2016 Posted 21 November, 2016 Salvaging a draw with a late goal against a team who are 21st in the 4th division is a great result for resurgent Portsmouth. No really. Look when we drawing with Liverpool and they are drawing with Cheltenham on the same day, it just goes to prove we have no rivals in Hampshire? My son went to the Cheltenham v skates match. Cheltenham missed a golden opprtunity to make it 2-0 at one stage. On the way back from the ground a civilised skate told 'young badger' that "no disrespect mate but we need to be despatching teams like you if we're seriously looking at going up". Maybe the penny is beginning to drop with some skates.... The other observation was how most people were knobbed off by TCWTB and the persistent ringing through the match.
Danbert Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 Pompey's official site is billing the Luton game as the "clash of the titans". That's a match between the teams currently 4th and 5th in League 2 then. Titans indeed
hutch Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 "Titans" is about right. Mythological characters from ancient history that didn't really exist.
explorer saint Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 The picture makes it look like a seaside fishing village - which maybe it is....... http://www.ilivehere.co.uk/why-portsmouth-sucks-a-list.html Fratton gets a mention no surprise there

Rest assured that skate is in the minority. And how else do you think TCWTB got the title?
rooney Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 I remember TCWTB was sitting near me in the Itchen at that England Match at SMS v Macedonia. He was constantly ringing that bell until one fan threatened to throttle him and that quietened things down a bit.
spyinthesky Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 I remember TCWTB was sitting near me in the Itchen at that England Match at SMS v Macedonia. He was constantly ringing that bell until one fan threatened to throttle him and that quietened things down a bit. I remember that too. One thing I will give him credit for was the balls to turn up at a rivals ground and start singing 'Play up England' etc I agree he did quieten down when the Saints fan threatened to lump him
JRM Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 Pompey's official site is billing the Luton game as the "clash of the titans". That's a match between the teams currently 4th and 5th in League 2 then. Titans indeed It is such a massive clash that the Skates have failed to sell out their allocation of 1000 tickets.......perhaps they are afraid they bump into some of the travelling army of Saints fans on their way to Luton airport to fly to Prague on our European tour.

That's a match between the teams currently 4th and 5th in League 2 then. Titans indeed The Mighty Luton Town, who have spent 5 of the last 7 years as a non league club.
Pamplemousse Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 They've finally come to terms with their true level. Fair play to them for embracing it.
Pamplemousse Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 1-1 already. No sooner was #CookOut trending on Twitter and Pompey go and equalise Someone dust off the hero to villain swingometer
Gunnery Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 1-1 already!!?? They truly are the bestest of the bestest !!
Pamplemousse Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 Pompey in front! 2-1! Dust off the open top bus, they're going up to League 1 surely! No stopping them now!!!!
Gunnery Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 This is how I like it, piling on the false hope with the odd plucky result, it's that hope that ALWAYS gets them in the end.
Jonnyboy Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 If I'm really honest I did prefer it when they were flirting with relegation to non-league.
Mr Biscuits Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 If I'm really honest I did prefer it when they were flirting with relegation to non-league. That period of time as completely hilarious
Gunnery Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 3-1...they are walking Division 4 !! #Bestest
Jonnyboy Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 3-1...they are walking Division 4 !! #Bestest Again to be fair that is one of the best results they've had in the last three years.
The9 Posted 22 November, 2016 Posted 22 November, 2016 2 points behind the promotion places with the side in the last promotion place having a match in hand. Ho hum, still in a playoff place. Meanwhile Newport lost their first match in 7 and drop back to the bottom of the division - only 9 points off the playoffs though!

Toomer Posted 25 November, 2016 Posted 25 November, 2016 I had a meeting with a customer today who have sponsored one their players and he told me that being a community owned club if they get promoted to league 1 they could not afford to get promoted to the championship.
Weston Super Saint Posted 25 November, 2016 Posted 25 November, 2016 Judging by the last four seasons they can't afford to get promoted to League 1 let alone the championship
Mr Biscuits Posted 26 November, 2016 Posted 26 November, 2016 There's that 'community owned' thing again......
Pamplemousse Posted 26 November, 2016 Posted 26 November, 2016 Make that 2-0 to Stevenage!!!!! Hahahahahahahahahahaha
trousers Posted 26 November, 2016 Posted 26 November, 2016 Full time. A plucky 2-1 home defeat against the mighty Stevenage
Saints foreva Posted 26 November, 2016 Posted 26 November, 2016 Andrew Moon @mrandrewmoon #Pompey boss Paul Cook exchanged words with an unhappy fan at full time who was shouting down from the stand
andysstuff Posted 26 November, 2016 Posted 26 November, 2016 Was there booing? I bet there was booing. Yeah, maybe we can't take the moral high-ground on that at the moment. [emoji53]
johnnyboy Posted 26 November, 2016 Posted 26 November, 2016 Finally been found on pol , what's the verdict on there , tried looking on fans online but it's stuck in the 1970's !
spyinthesky Posted 26 November, 2016 Posted 26 November, 2016 In case anyone is interested the Pompey News 'Ace' reporter, Mr N Allen, has brought out a new book for pre Christmas release. It will be on sale at various high class book sellers at a very reasonable £16.99 per copy. Title is 'Played Up Pompey' and includes interviews with 'stars' from Pompey's past, all presented in short paragraphs, with plenty of pictures, for ease of reading. Likelihood is that quite a few of the initial print run will end up at a certain second hand book shop in Petersfield with a price tag of £1.99, some time in the new year.
