hutch Posted 14 July, 2016 Posted 14 July, 2016 Is that because they don't need a safety certificate for next season? They've been surviving with a series of waivers and a bit of blind eye. The Hillsborough verdict found both the club (Sheffield Wednesday) in the independent safety inspector partly liable for the disaster, so I think inspections from now on will be a bit more rigourous. They had serious access and escape issues in the past, and I havent seen that they have fixed those. So could be facing either a big spend or another capacity reduction.
Mr Biscuits Posted 14 July, 2016 Posted 14 July, 2016 Well a reduction in capacity just makes it easier to prove their portsmyth that they sell out every game
Mr Biscuits Posted 14 July, 2016 Posted 14 July, 2016 Some complete melt has done one of those dumbas$ things on Twitter - Which is the bigger club R/T for Pompey like for Southampton The responses are as inevitable as they are dull. Especially from the skates wh have used it as an opportunity to fall back on FACTS........

stevegrant Posted 14 July, 2016 Posted 14 July, 2016 I am having a Weston Super trying to get it back online This is the main reason why I've still not got round to upgrading this - the fear of having to spend a week rolling everything back We've bought a licence for Invision Power Boards, but it's so wildly different that I need to test the conversion script in anger, and then get the skin done properly.
Golden Balls Posted 14 July, 2016 Posted 14 July, 2016 Totally pointless and dull. On the other hand Saints are winning easily, so not all bad Backfired quite spectacularly. Mind you its one of those accounts by a fan boy in love with a random player. They tend to say 'tears' and 'screaming' as a form of nonexistent laughter. Odd bunch those teenagers.

In other news, the pluckiest hacked 5 past their 7th tier neighbours (known locally as 'the Barca of Waterlooville') in a breathtaking display of lower league grit and determination. Apparently. OldNick Posted 16 July, 2016 Posted 16 July, 2016 maybe I haveMust have taken ages to sort that down to a suspect, 'does he own a bell?' No 'Does he own a drum?' No it must be him then

Pamplemousse Posted 16 July, 2016 Posted 16 July, 2016 Should we be looking at this Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain fella? We get the pick of all the best talent in Hampshire. If they're at Pompey, it's safe to say they're not that good.
Waterside.saint Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 Looks like they have finally found their level. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/pompey/pompey-slip-to-first-pre-season-loss-1-7480989 Their plucky heroes were thrashed by a recently-promoted 5th tier side but managed to beat a 7th tier team, which suggests their natural home is perhaps somewhere inbetween - the National League South.

Nothing to worry about. Sutton were National League South champions last season. Salisbury on Tuesday should be easier opposition.
TopGun Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 Tbf they put the 1st team on after 69 minutes and got a goal back. It suggests little depth in a large squad though.
rallyboy Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 If I was looking to win promotion I would put out the strongest team and attempt to destroy the opposition in these friendlies - for at least the first half. What are they going to learn from tinkering about and losing at Sutton?
spyinthesky Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 Wonder if the 'Fratton Faithful' realise that Paul Doswell, the Manager of Sutton Utd, is a big Saints fan Last time I saw him was in the St Marys Megastore where he was buying a load of flags and scarves etc for him and his family prior to the JPT final I wonder if the cry of 'Scummer' echoed round the Sutton Utd ground earlier this week?
dronskisaint Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 Totally pointless and dull. On the other hand Saints are winning easily, so not all bad Given that most skates still lick the point on a pencil before writing inarticulately and with 'challenged' spelling and grammar I'm guessing the world of social media is not their forte....!

What are they going to learn from tinkering about and losing at Sutton? The manager is trying to convince the owners that they need to dig far deeper into those empty pockets to buy lots more quality players with money they haven't got.
TopGun Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 Someone moaning on the News that Paul Cook was spotted out on the lash in Warsash the night before the Sutton game.
Whitey Grandad Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 Someone moaning on the News that Paul Cook was spotted out on the lash in Warsash the night before the Sutton game. I haven't been to Warsash for some time. What constitutes a night on the lash there? Drinking cider out if a paper bag whilst sitting in the car park?
Pamplemousse Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 Surely they'd be angrier that he dared to venture into SO postcode territory.
Whitey Grandad Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 Surely they'd be angrier that he dared to venture into SO postcode territory. Possibly. Personally I have always threaded carefully once east of the River Hamble.
Panda Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 Theo WIDDERINGTON - not Tommy's son surely? Widderington is not exactly a common name.
Weston Super Saint Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 Theo WIDDERINGTON - not Tommy's son surely? Widderington is not exactly a common name. Nope. 1. His name is Widdrington not Widderington. 2. His son is called 'Kai' and he's a dancer not a footballer http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/14377276.Southampton_dancer_Kai_Widdrington_set_to_appear_in_Brendan_Cole_s_latest_dance_show_at_Mayflower_Theatre_this_weekend/

Waterside.saint Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 The manager is trying to convince the owners that they need to dig far deeper into those empty pockets to buy lots more quality players with money they haven't got. It's amazing what you can find in the depths of an empty pocket or down the sofa when you're desperate. For example, I once found a winning lottery ticket with Keira Knightly's number written on the back in lipstick, but that kind of thing happens once in billion years, I doubt pompey would be that jammy.
djharvey Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 Edit : Apparently he has another son called Theo who is a footballer though.... Correct.
Pedro Posted 17 July, 2016 Posted 17 July, 2016 I haven't been to Warsash for some time. What constitutes a night on the lash there? Drinking cider out if a paper bag whilst sitting in the car park? The Silver Fern has cider for a £1 with a burger meal, can see a team breakfast in there.
rallyboy Posted 18 July, 2016 Posted 18 July, 2016 and after the bonding fry-up they could then be filmed by local news, jogging along the foreshore pretending to prepare for a giant-killing cup tie in 1972. It would be like real football.
TopGun Posted 18 July, 2016 Posted 18 July, 2016 I notice a few more references among the fish to 'young Jack'. I think this is turning into a 'Little John' type moniker.
Waterside.saint Posted 18 July, 2016 Posted 18 July, 2016 I notice a few more references among the fish to 'young Jack'. I think this is turning into a 'Little John' type moniker. More rosy cheeked urchins, any sign of Tiny Tim or Little Nell yet?
suewhistle Posted 18 July, 2016 Posted 18 July, 2016 References among the fish? Isn't 'young Jack' a bit of a tautology? Though I'm not sure when a Pike is considered fully adult.
Mr Biscuits Posted 19 July, 2016 Posted 19 July, 2016 Two years is the what which Pike start to breed. Probably about 14 in human terms. Which would be about the same as when their sistermums take them.
johnnyboy Posted 19 July, 2016 Posted 19 July, 2016 Just tried logging on to POL with no luck , for those with logins on there is it still down ? Or have I been caught !! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pamplemousse Posted 19 July, 2016 Posted 19 July, 2016 Another mighty result as Pompey get a 2-2 victory over plucky Salisbury. The ref, once again, was overawed by the occasion.
TopGun Posted 19 July, 2016 Posted 19 July, 2016 Outrage that the new kit is made by Sondico when it was clear Adidas and Nike were vying to hand millions over in a shirt deal.
Pamplemousse Posted 19 July, 2016 Posted 19 July, 2016 They are clearly well supported on their away tour **THOSE OF A NERVOUS DISPOSITION SHOULD LOOK AWAY**
Mr Biscuits Posted 19 July, 2016 Posted 19 July, 2016 'So Jonny, what do you want to be when you grow up?' 'A complete cVnt mummy'
