hutch Posted 9 November, 2014 Posted 9 November, 2014 You'd have thought they would have had a sell out for what is the biggest Hampshire derby they will experience for a generation.... It will be much more than 12 years
rallyboy Posted 9 November, 2014 Posted 9 November, 2014 Nice one. But in 12 years time plucky youngsters will be able to ask their great great grandparents about that amazing win at SMS that denied us promotion and kept them in the 2nd tier. If they have gained anything today it is confirmation of their new local rivals - until Eastleigh go up. That glorious European victory/draw against Milan seems a long time ago.

Presumably the length of a generation depends on the average age of parenthood on the septic isle, whats that down to now?

OVER THE HILL Posted 9 November, 2014 Posted 9 November, 2014 To be fair this was Aldershots cup final.
Waterside.saint Posted 9 November, 2014 Posted 9 November, 2014 To be fair this was Aldershots cup final. And no doubt the ref was overawed by the occaision.
Pamplemousse Posted 9 November, 2014 Posted 9 November, 2014 They're not happy over at POL Had forgotten how bad North stand toilets were; made Fratton End's feel palatial. Catering was awful. No sugar? No spoons? No hot food at half time? Only thing left fruit-*******-pastilles? Maybe we had some leftovers a couple of games, and someone decided to cut wastage. Great, but then when there isn't enough supply, I just won't eat at the ground and you get zero income. Seriously, the margin on a pie must be high enough to justify having a bit of wastage as long as you sell some? With the money from both games, have we got enough to pay off Connolly now? Well, did anyone tell the players that those red things on their chests were poppies and not noses. It seemed more like a comic relief sketch. All I can say is it's lucky we didn't get relegated to the Conference last season We mightn't have got back to L2 for years Interesting to read the Aldershot forum: lambasting us for a poor turnout and poor atmosphere and saying they had fans in the home sections. Apart from that, a few were questioning Andy Awful's tactics and a load more were demanding that the board sign a load of new players. Nothing new there.
Waterside.saint Posted 9 November, 2014 Posted 9 November, 2014 They're not happy over at POL ! ! Apart from that, a few were questioning Andy Awful's tactics and a load more were demanding that the board sign a load of new players. Nothing new there. How are the mighty fallen
Saint Lindford Posted 9 November, 2014 Posted 9 November, 2014 Either the BBC highlights commentator did not have his glasses on or he had been given the list of Portsmyths. As the camera pans around he says the game is being played in front of a full house! The fancy dress shop must have sold out of blue seat outfits then.
Golden Balls Posted 9 November, 2014 Posted 9 November, 2014 Apparently it was a good turn out considering it's Remembrance Sunday. Ya know, cos Portsmouth being the only place that remembers. Apparently the atmosphere wasn't the usual intimidating cauldron due to the somber mood of Remembrance Sunday. Apparently the booing at the end was the JCLs and not true fans. Apparently they NEVER boo their own. (Except Connelly and anybody else that expects to be paid what was agreed). This is from a quick glance at twitter. They do make me giggle.
Waterside.saint Posted 9 November, 2014 Posted 9 November, 2014 Agree, they can lose to Aldershot and gain little or no revenue from the cups. We can draw Eastleigh instead. A long, valuable cup run would certainly do the pluckiest minnows a power of good. It would be so tragic if this were to be cruelly cut short
dronskisaint Posted 9 November, 2014 Posted 9 November, 2014 Joke of a club...can't even claim to be second best club in Hampshire...
Saint-Reece Posted 10 November, 2014 Posted 10 November, 2014 Just to make a lot of you feel REALLY old, have a birth year post from me!
hutch Posted 10 November, 2014 Posted 10 November, 2014 So the underdogs managed to battle their way to a plucky draw. But I can't see them winning the replay, Aldershot will be much too strong for them at home.
stevegrant Posted 10 November, 2014 Posted 10 November, 2014 Just to make a lot of you feel REALLY old, have a birth year post from me! Sickening
The Cat Posted 10 November, 2014 Posted 10 November, 2014 Official figures for Sunday: Attendance: 10858 Away fans: 2384 Take off a few for the Aldershot fans in the home end and that's easily under 8500 home fans. Massive.
Hatch Posted 10 November, 2014 Posted 10 November, 2014 http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/awford-insists-pompey-s-desire-cannot-be-questioned-1-6407086 ANDY AWFORD saw Pompey booed off the pitch after the 2-2 The Blues failed to live up to the highs of recent Fratton Park victories over Stevanage and Carlisle. That led to one angry supporter confronting Awford on his way to the tunnel. The best, the very very best.
Waterside.saint Posted 10 November, 2014 Posted 10 November, 2014 http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/awford-insists-pompey-s-desire-cannot-be-questioned-1-6407086 The best, the very very best. And lets not forget: ...Awford is keen to see his side continue their unbeaten record against non-league opponents. He said: ‘I’m pleased that record is still there and I’m hoping it will still be there in eight days time.’ So there it is - the pluckiest minnows' justifiable pride in not YET being dumped out of a cup competition by non-league opposition. Roll on the replay

Must have been like old times like when they used to open the gates to thousands of servicemen to help fill their ground back in 40s/50s.
andysstuff Posted 10 November, 2014 Posted 10 November, 2014 ...to be more precise, under 8000, they let in 500 servicemen for free. Must have been like old times like when they used to open the gates to thousands of servicemen to help fill their ground back in 40s/50s. Surely some mistake. Thought it was only us who inflated our gates by giving away free tickets. Surely the bestest were queue if thirty deep to far in and the turnstiles couldn't cope with the throng?

Joey-deacons-left-nut Posted 10 November, 2014 Posted 10 November, 2014 Aldershot are non league?? haha , I thought they were in the 1st division... class!

Weston Super Saint Posted 10 November, 2014 Posted 10 November, 2014 "Stevanage?" Shurely shome mishtake Jeff. Isn't it nice that the local rag holds the competitors in the same disdain as the manager does, not even bothering to spell check their name
OVER THE HILL Posted 10 November, 2014 Posted 10 November, 2014 FA CUP second round draw Portsmouth/Aldershot v Northampton/Rochdale .
stevegrant Posted 10 November, 2014 Posted 10 November, 2014 One of the few ties where the little team gets drawn at home to the big boys.

rallyboy Posted 11 November, 2014 Posted 11 November, 2014 Retweet **** and win a little prize for being naive and easily-led... Last time they got involved in this sort of caper they were voted the most active social media marketing reps for a utility company. Though I guess Robinson could do with this cash while he rethinks what to do with a chunk of wasteland that makes Flanders look like a bowling green. Are they still trading? It's very quiet.

Big Bad Bob Posted 11 November, 2014 Posted 11 November, 2014 http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/news/article/pompey-climb-transfer-fund-table-2077811.aspx There are so many things wrong with this promotion on so many levels, not least being that you have to bet money to climb up the ladder. Let's hope they're betting their own money and not credit..

andysstuff Posted 12 November, 2014 Posted 12 November, 2014 Is their resident architect still confident the deal will be signed on early November with work to start almost immediately? If so it's going right down to the wire.

hutch Posted 13 November, 2014 Posted 13 November, 2014 Work to start this month Work is due to commence later this month on developing a new club car park behind the north stand in Anson Road – and fans are being warned to expect disruption. The scheme is part of the deal which saw planning permission granted for a new Tesco superstore on land currently used by the club for its main car park. As a part of the deal, Pompey will get a new car park built off Anson Road, as well as an undisclosed seven-figure sum towards future stadium improvements. Contractors will start work on the first phase of the development – creating the new club car park – on November 24. Fans will still be able to access Fratton Park via Anson Road on foot, although this route will be reduced and there will also be restrictions on car parking until the work is complete. The club currently use land behind the Fratton End as a main car park and off Anson Road for additional matchday car parking. How this will affect fans over the next few weeks: - December 13 v Accrington: Main car park open only - December 26 v Wimbledon and January 3 v Tranmere: Anson Road and main car park open - January 17 v Burton: Anson Road car park open only Pompey chief executive Mark Catlin said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused to fans by the works, but in the long run the deal is of great benefit to the club. “We will keep fans informed via the official website and local media as the work progresses.” Read more at http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/news/article/new-car-park-information-2080643.aspx#HITgCdeyIzvaJbok.99

andysstuff Posted 13 November, 2014 Posted 13 November, 2014 Looks like it's a go then. Though this only appears to involve laying some Tarmac . Wonder if the seven figure sum is in the bank yet.
rallyboy Posted 13 November, 2014 Posted 13 November, 2014 Banked? Trousered in cash - spent - history! So it's business as usual, and the few will soon have their 40,000 seater state-of-the-art stadium*. *hard standing for a burger van.
