sotonswan Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 I can't wait for Accrington Stanley v Portsmouth on Sky Sports 12:00 next Saturday. A real bottom of the table relegation ****-sandwich of a game.
saint si Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 I can't wait for Accrington Stanley v Portsmouth on Sky Sports 12:00 next Saturday. A real bottom of the table relegation ****-sandwich of a game. And James Beattie in charge of Accrington...
trousers Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 Unfortunately they are only 91st on goal difference grrrrrrr This is true. Shame, I thought goals against would count for more than goals scored...
warsash saint Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 Steve Dixon @DickoPFC And as for Kitson patting his pocket when he walked off - everything that's wrong with modern football. What a ****. #pompey LOL I used to work with him & confirm he's a class A C***
OldNick Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 I 4-1 like what Whittingham is doing. I 4-1 liked that today....is that how this 4-1 thing works. I might get to like this game
OldNick Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 Just seen the goals on Sky, the fourth is comedy gold. What the Pompey defender was doing lord knows lol it looks like a new dance move
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 (edited) Sailor Sam, Corp Ho, Mackerel, PFC123 & POL. Your boys took a hell of a beating. Looking forward to Oxford fans throwing that in your face endlessly. Pmsl. I 4-1love it Edited 3 August, 2013 by SOTONS EAST SIDE
Waterside.saint Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 Unfortunately they are only 91st on goal difference grrrrrrr http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D3/runin.html football365 show them as starting on -10 Do they know something we don't
Foxy Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 Just heard news, oh that's unlucky. What a shame. But to look at it another way it was a good result for Oxford on what I'd imagine would have been billed by some as 'their cup final'.
Bearsy Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 Any news on open top bus parade in Oxford tomoz? I might go.
eurosaint Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 Can't see the point of expansion at the moment as they were bound to get a full house in the first match anyway (Oxford have sold out the away end too!) owing to the 'feelgood factor' etc.. Sensible business people would surely let things settle and take a mean average after say, 3 to 6 months, rather than have a kneejerk reaction to what is (probably) an exceptional set of circumstances ! I really will wet my pants if they lose their first 3 or 4 matches :) Oops, I've wet my pants already :)
Dark Munster Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 I 4-1 think it's a bit unfair to mock the afflicted. Oh, what the hell.
aintforever Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 Oxford United FC @OUFClive Portsmouth fans don't like it - they're streaming for the exits. 4-1 #OUFC Explains why they didn't get a safety certificate for full capacity - exits not wide enough for the 75th minute stampede.
Red Alert Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 (edited) Sullivan - 3 - couldn't catch a cold today. Moutoakil - 2 - excellent first 35 mins, shocker after Devera - 1 - worst debut since Linvoy. Lets hope he improves like Sir L. Bradley - 3 - should be no more than backup. Butler - 2 - mugged all afternoon by Potter. Wallace - 2 - shadow of himself today. Ertl - 3 - didn't protect the defence as usual. Not a red; only had eyes for the ball. Ferry - 6 - tidy little player. Will be great in this league. Barcham - 5 - great cross for goal. Could be a decent signing. Aygemang - 4 - great header, but barely in the game. Connolly - 3 - same as Paddy, but without the goal. It would seem some of the new signings might not be all that bestest after all. Also I know he is one of our own, he has come from the youth team and you are not allowed to criticise young players, but I have to say it, Butler is simply not good enough. It is OK saying he will learn and he is still young, which is fair enough, but I do not think we can afford to wait for him to learn and improve. Please not doubting the "academy" already, giving up on the kids after a single game, no doubt there is some 33 year old conference reject that will be lined up already. And finally, this is the phew we know and love. I don't particularly want to write him off after one game, but Sullivan worries me greatly. A new CB and GK seem mandatory if we are to get anywhere this year. Now where can I find the facepalm? Edited 3 August, 2013 by Red Alert
Crazy Diamond Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 Sullivan was decent for Wimbledon, did his bit to keep the club in the Football League. Judging by the Skates' start to the season, they might need that experience
ottery st mary Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 From the above........11 new signings by Monday:rolleyes:
Tamesaint Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 Come on , come on. You know jolly well that we are only laughing at them because we are deeply jealous of them. Must be the case as Corp and pfc 123 have said so.
dubai_phil Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 This thread has over the many years achieved a level of prescience on all things pompey. We may not have 4 seen the result, but deep down, everyone on here knew what was going to happen today. Oldnick must be rolling in the deep in his angst between getting away with it and continuing to be a laughing stock. We know it. Mack knows it. They may have a moment next week but the fact is. It's gonna keep getting worse. And then the off the pitch games will start. Oh yes.
saints_is_the_south Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 I 4 1 am delighted with how Oxford United started their season. Anybody going to stay up for the Football League show? I 4 1 will be.
Colinjb Posted 3 August, 2013 Posted 3 August, 2013 I like Niko on POL, he has a real touch of the retro (?) Alpines about him.
mack rill Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Been saying it since the end of last season,Saddled with the albatross twittingham round are necks is like taking another 10 point hit, Wonder what the cork popping gang will charge per game when we play HW next year, thats if they don't get promoted
TopGun Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Been saying it since the end of last season,Saddled with the albatross twittingham round are necks is like taking another 10 point hit, Wonder what the cork popping gang will charge per game when we play HW next year, thats if they don't get promoted I don't think any of us nut jobs doubt the genuine commitment that Guy has to the Pompey cause and that makes him far more upstanding than Appleton Mack. The problem is that he is a coach and not a manager. I think he made a knee jerk reaction to the last two summers also by grabbing out of contract players very early on. He's stuck with them now unless Champagne Ian decides to recover money meant for current and immediate creditors. He might be putting a call into Portsmouth Council on Monday though
The9 Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Hi peeps, I was at Newport v Accrington today, and apart from the collateral damage to James Beattie, it was a wonderful day for Football in League 2. We were all loving the news from Fratton that was filtering through. Anyway, you may have seen they did some hilarious mural pre-match proclaiming "OURS" across the one stand, not true etc but anyway not even the point after today's result... I have had a little photoshop...
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Newport top, Skates bottom. That was the note Brightspark had pinned to the living room door when I woke up this morning here in Brisbane. Carlsberg don't do football results..... Expect some more amazing 'ways they can find to do things' on Portsea Island shortly. Admin 4, coming to a morally bankrupt laughing stock of a football club at the end of the M27 soon....it's the Comedy of the Year. Again.
Pugwash Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Now I'm not usually 1-4 gloating, but..... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAH!
chocco boxo Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 I so want us to demolish them in the FA Cup 3rd round...say 8-0...tra la la
ericofarabia Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 I so want us to demolish them in the FA Cup 3rd round...say 8-0...tra la la Not a hope in hell of that happening ..... it means they'd have to win 2 matches to get that far LOL
Lurkster Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Neil Allen @pn_neil_allen 1 Aug Remember Pascal Najadi, one of three in the Keith Harris consortium after #Pompey. Shocking news about his father. http://mobile.bloomberg.com/news/2013-07-31/banker-najadi-buried-as-malaysia-police-hunt-killers-correct-.html …
positivepete Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Welcome back to the new season nut jobs and Mack. Remember Norwich got tanked in their first home game before winning the league. Probably wont happen here but it is the hope that kills them.
eurosaint Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 "Yesterday, all our troubles seemed so far away, now it looks as though they're here to stay, oh we believe in yesterday.." "Guy said we'd be strong, he was wrong, we didn't play... ( need some help to finish the song, am sure that you nutjobs can help ?)
eurosaint Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Fratton Fancy Dan 8:12 PM on 03/08/2013 My concern if things don't "gel"by mid season is we have few options compared to other clubs. Because the FL have curbed our transfer activity we will not be able to wheel and deal even at the limited level of Div 4. We may be stuck with what we have. Not time yet for full on panic though, save that for next week Above is a comment from the News comments section ! Seems that a few still don't get it, eh ??
OldNick Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 I assume Allens match report will stop after 25minutes. Lol I wonder how he will be able to match a poem/quote of Skatespeare to that lot.

Matthew Le God Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 (edited) Golden moment Nutjobs! Saints are currently joint 1st in Premier League, Pompey 23rd in League Two. The 91 places between them is the largest its ever been since Pompey established 115 years ago in 1898! There is plenty of life left in this thread. Edited 4 August, 2013 by Matthew Le God
chocco boxo Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Has any player even been loaned between us and them?

OldNick Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Great work....:-)... Literally crying with laughter over that!you are easily amused
Danbert Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Some good stuff in this match report in the Indie They began to leave a quarter of an hour from the end, to a mocking chorus of "is there a fire drill?" from 2,500 Oxford supporters. So much for solidarity, and the common cause of the common man.
stevegrant Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 I particularly like the subtle amendment to the sponsor name at the top of the stand
Wirral saint Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 OK I know it's only one game but........ I fully expected that our fishy friends to walk this league (whilst obviously hoping that they would crash & burn instead). However after watching the Football League show this morning - yes just too watch "the bestest" streaming out (they didn't show that bit) -I have to be honest and say that there are some decent teams in it and I am now quite happy in the belief that the skates have a long and difficult season ahead.
The9 Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 I particularly like the subtle amendment to the sponsor name at the top of the stand Bit of site promotion in there too...
Dalek2003 Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 I am sure we can recommend a goalkeeper for them, didn't we have an up and coming one last year that went to a League 2 club ?
The9 Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 I am sure we can recommend a goalkeeper for them, didn't we have an up and coming one last year that went to a League 2 club ? Seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth too, Gillingham offered him a contract but he doesn't seem to have signed it.
Crazy Diamond Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Portsmouth 1 - 4 Oxford. But what did the critics think? A quick glance at an Oxford United forum... "The media won't be liking this one bit. They'd love a Pompey win" "Glad to shut them smug idiots who were on South Today on Thursday!" "Hark, what is that sound I hear? It sounds awfully like a bubble bursting in the Portsmouth area." "5 mins added time. Enough time for the Pompey fans to feck off home." "Jerome Sale is loving this result on South Today." "They needed Father Christmas to help them again today." "I like how the best fans in the League streamed for the exits when their team were losing at home. Loyal, I don't think." "Great day and with 15 mins left they were streaming out of the ground!" "I lived in Pompey and now live near York. I had updates on Twitter, this forum and a good friend who is a Pompey fan who sent me Photos of the magnificent Yellow Army, also had recordings sent of the Yellow army in full vocal support. I left Portsmouth because I hate the place, this result is a two fingered salute to the sh*thole. Well done to the team, the fans I am now walking round Malton ****ed as a mattress."
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 4 August, 2013 Author Posted 4 August, 2013 Seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth too, Gillingham offered him a contract but he doesn't seem to have signed it. He let it slip between his fingers
Crazy Diamond Posted 4 August, 2013 Posted 4 August, 2013 Oh and did anyone else laugh when they were described as 'the big fish' in the division, last night on the Football League Show?
