I think its more that he feels that by providing a handy link to the twittersphere, rational right-thinking readers will read his piece and be astonished that anyone could think it anything other than brilliant and objective journlism. At any rate, comments appear now to be disabled for that article ;)

And anyone who tweets something that Herr knobhead neil doesn't like on twitter will be b-anned quicker than Avram can pull his pants down in Horton Heath.

You just know that he'd love to be able to do that with the snooze site as well! It looks like he's got the keys to the toyroom today though and has figured out how to disable the comments, so much for freedom of speech eh knobhead?

Pulled by whom? The writer? Twitter, following a complaint?

Perhaps we should point a few media studies professors/courses in the direction of NeilAllen as I'm sure he'd make an interesting case study..

Many Pompey fans have had doubts over the Trust bid over the past few weeks and via looking from afar it appears their questions have often been answered inadequately. At first it seemed anyone who questioned aspects of the bid was shot down and deemed not a proper fan. After this initial pathetic response meant the questions didn't subside I've seen a different tactic used recently - it now appears a default response is 'what alternative is there?'. As though the person who has a question of concern over an element of the bid has a point but the best way to answer them without directly harming the bid effort is to admit they may have a point but with no other option available they'll just have to deal with it - it is an almost ignorant response considering people are being asked to put £1000 into the bid. 'Yeah we know there are holes in the bid but as we're the only bid there is no option so please give me your £1000'.

Pompey are too big not to exist in some form - if it is as a phoenix club then so be it. But it doesn't rest too easy that the cheerleading for pledges continues via not answering real concerns in the business plan. It doesn't seem too clever or moral. If ever there was a time to be up front and fair now is it.

In many respects this article is a reflection of the new approach above: http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/portsmouth/fb_news.php?storyid=19100&title=sj_maskell:_players_have_their_part_to_play_in_not_killing_pompey

These statements in particular:

There is no other buyer than the Pompey Supporters’ Trust and all the nit-picking analysis in the world will not change that situation. No one else wants to own this club right here, right now. And it is right here, right now that a proper owner is needed.

And it will be difficult for many years to come, not only because, as Micah Hall says, ‘you can’t put all this damage right overnight,’ but also because many in the football world will want us to fail. They will want us to fail because a successful club run with the values enshrined in the Trust movement says loud and clear, ‘the gravy train stops here.’

I would love for the values enshrined in the Trust movement to actually be visible during their bid and plea for pledges, because quite frankly it appears what they have written on paper and how they are addressing the real and fair concerns of their fans wondering whether or not to pledge is a world apart.

You aren't any less of a fan if you don't pledge, and you certainly aren't wrong to question any aspect of the Trust bid. There is another option to the Trust bid, and that is to start again. Otherwise you might end up with a club based on a majority ownership from property developers with no interest in the true welfare of the club, and, I dare say, £1000 out of pocket in a situation you can't truly influence.

The Pompey supporters who have real concerns are in a very unfortunate situation.

Pompey look on course to at least equal Luton's record of three consecutive relegations.

Another notable feat for the bestest etc.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20944606 (Notes in left hand margin)

Pompey's will be 2 consecutive relegation's (Champ - L1; L1 - L2) - they had 2 seasons in the Championship.......that is unless they get relegated from L2 next season then it'll be 3 but the chances they'll be around to see that are getting slimmer and slimmer.

Luton's record is also equal with Wolves in the 80's (Div1 - Div4 in consecutive seasons)

Sycophancy alert!

@pn_neil_allen: Dumbuya bids his farewell with a message for the #Pompey fans. http://t.co/C3d21Hvn

Mustapha Dumbuya bid Pompey farewell – and lauded the fans he has left behind.

‘I would just like to thank all the fans, the fans have been absolutely amazing with me.

‘Every time I go out I want to play for them and give them my all and it has been an absolute blessing playing in front of the Pompey fans.

‘This club has always had a reputation of having good fans and I have always wanted to play in front of fans like this.

‘I’ve played here a couple of times with other clubs and the atmosphere has been electric so I’ve always said to myself “I want to play in front of these fans”.

Still, I'm sure the astute national media will see through this "fan owned club" myth when they report the takeover (should it happen)...oh...

Absolutely NOTHING new in that

A simple rehash of the original deal that they used as the original basis for the trip to court to set the valuation.

And still has the Chinny Elephant in the room mentioned.

Chinny turns up at Court with an offer and cash in a Solictor's escrow account TB & the trust are sunk without a trace

agreed in principle?....

Yeah, that's a done deal!

And I'm not sure how being asked to find twice as much as you wanted to pay can be regarded as a funding boost.

That'll be a national paper that has no grasp nor interest in the fine detail.

Are they trying to say that they have been joined by further property developers thus complicating their future ownership structure even more?

And that's a good thing?

Sounds like nothing more than last minute bluster to buy more time from the judge.

Assuming this report is true, what I don't get is why would Birch start stripping the club down to its bare bones a few days before the next court case if the Trust were "poised" to announce they'd found another c.£4m under the sofa?

Doesn't add up (just for a change!)

The Blues boss said: ‘Lubo, Muzzy and Jon were all in the squad, although Lee Williamson wasn’t.‘He felt he was able to give his all but it was a choice I made to say to him ‘look I’m not going to put you in that situation’.

‘If I am going to put somebody on the pitch I want to know they are going to give their all.

‘I am not saying he wouldn’t have done but how would he feel and I feel if I’d asked him to play and he has gone into a tackle and broken his leg?

‘We can’t keep him on if he’s got an injury which is going to keep him out for a while. I’m not going to tell you my team but the other three were all part of the squad and available for selection.

So, he didn't play Williamson in case he picked up a career threatening injury yet the same logic didn't apply to the other players in exactly the same position? Come on guy, if you're going to adopt the Pompey spin method of communication at least come up with a consistent story...

The Trust have agreed a £6million deal in principle with the administrators who value the stadium at £2.75m.

This mangled sentence seems to get things totally wrong. It implies that the administrators value Nottarf at £2.75, but the valuations were undertaken by the trust.

News of extra funds, on top of more than £1m donated by supporters, will fuel hopes of a happy ending for the die-hard fans.

Are they using the term donation as a joke? Surely these are investments in their community club!

There was no option to stay.‘It was a case of “here’s your seven days’ notice and off you go”.

‘I would have thought there would have been an option to take a cut. It’s tough to take. I didn’t see it coming.

Hmmm...something not quite adding up there.....Pompey player says he would take pay cut but Birch getting rid of players regardless....now, why would he be taking that approach, I wonder, especially when the Trust are on the cusp of a glorious takeover... ;)

Thinking about the court case to set a date for the real court case has raised some questions in my mind:

1. Are all of the subsequent parachute payments earmarked to pay the compromise agreements or do they have one left that isn't?

2. What circumstances would be required for the admin to be extended or for the court to order liquidation? I suspect that if a deal was in place for Fortress Fatpipes, this would contribute towards getting an extension. What would happen if the court set a date after 17th Feb? Would that be enough to get them liquidated? Does the court have a bias in favour of keeping things going or closing the doors?

3. Would the fact that the club is running at a loss act against them in court (even though those losses are being made good by the HNWs) when arguing to extend the admin? This would explain the sudden financial prudence on display.

4. In one of the last sets of figures, the money from the previous parachute payment was earmarked to pay for PKF. Have they kept this money to one side or is this yet another hole in the PDT's business plan?

The court case tomorrow is billed as a non event - just a date setting exercise for the real thing ....or so we're led to believe....

This is from the comments section:

Would he rather have come all the way down to the ground , watch about 15 minutes of farcical football and then have the referee abandon the game ? As already said another attempt by the press and the football world in general to kick Portsmouth Football Club while they are down. In a few days time there may not even be a Portsmouth Football Club. Liquidation is still a very real threat. Then the gentleman from Nottingham will be spared having to come down again. But his team will be 3 points worse off when Pompey's record is wiped from the League table. Surely at a time like this the football family should be rallying round Pompey not sharpening the knives. Or is Portsmouth's crime of chasing the dream and living beyond their means so horrendous that they should be wiped from memory.

Someone is claiming on fol that the extra funding the Sun are talking about is the Council agreeing to loan them the money for the stadium.

Whilst the Sun story appears just a rehash, something has promted them to run it and there was a meeting on Friday between the pdt and the council. If Robinson is still stalling they will need 3 million (Minimum) by tomorrow. It would be entirely logical for them to go back to the council and ask for the money. Whther they get it is another matter.

Highly unlikely, in my opinion.

The council said they would only give the loan if the PDT was the oly option available (Chinny is still around) AND if they were guaranteed the money was paid directly back to them via the PPs (which a) couldn't be promised by the PL and b) the PPs are spoken for by the ex-hero players).

The council's loan was conditional on the Trust having the only bid on the table....

Edit: sorry, just seen that Minsk beat me to it

Edit #2: that said, I suppose there's nothing stopping the council having another vote on the matter...either way, if it turns out that taxpayers money is used to prop up an organisation that has previously diddled said taxpayer out of c.£50m then the stench should at least penetrate the national media love-in, shouldn't it...? #dontholdyourbreath

I thought Chinny had withdrawn his bid, thus making the PST the only game in town.

Didn't he only withdraw his bid 'in protest' as result of PKF giving the Trust preferred bidder status? My point being that if the Trust were to pull out tomorrow then Chainrai would inevitably come back into the process ergo, the Trust aren't the last resort per se.

Also, for all we know there could be other bidders in the wings who can't make a move due to the exclusivity that PKF continue to grant the Trust. Much in the same way that Liebherr and Cortese came in at the last minute once the Pinnacle bid collapsed.

Bottom line is that there is no certainty that the Trust are the one and only hope for the club as things stand, thus the condition of the council loan isn't necessarily met.

That said, I would still like the PDT to takeover for the chuckle factor alone...

How many PCC staff would have to be made redundant to cover a £3Mill loan ? Or would it be provided through Prudential Borrowing - and would this then count towards the amount of debt the FL will let them carry forward ?

I am pretty sure this is what is happening.

farmery said he hoped to be able to announce some good news towards the end of last week. Then there was the meeting with the councillors on Friday - why would they need to do that?

If robinson still can't commit, they would get thrown out of court tomorrow if they didn't have funding in place. They give the council a chance to save the club and they are all heros. It won't be the first council owned stadium and there will be a few angry taxpayers, but that will be that.

At a guess, I would say the pdt have found their 3 million quid........ They just need the udge now.

None of that will be changed substantially by the extra funding as far as I am aware.

Thats from s maskell on fol- Which seems to me to confirm that they have got extra funding.... and the council would be the most obvious route.
