krissyboy31 Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Wasn't Magri a trialist? No he's the one they were hoping to sell to Liverpool last season.
Bobbyboy Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Is Westwood an eligible player or will they get thrown out for fielding him?
Jonnyboy Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Well they should still be reported over Westwood playing.
aintforever Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 @solentsport: #Pompey team v Plymouth: Eastwood; Webster, Westwood, Grant, Butler; Wallace, Magri, Colson, Higgins; Harris, Thompson @solentsport: #Pompey subs this evening: Whatmough, Tarbuck, Maloney That's it, I officially don't want liquidation now. Watching that shower of sh!te try and claw back a -10 deduction whilst the loan shark bleeds them dry is going to be way way more fun.
Elmore Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 as they appear to be in a little bit of a pickle - I've just had a great idea! How about they take whatever budget they have and instead of spending it on enough players to compete for a season, they get fewer players, but pay them more? We could call this new policy, 'less but better' or 'few and classy'. And perhaps they could set a wagecap to keep this budget on track, and then pay twice that to the first player they meet the next day? They could also loan out perfectly good young players to pretend they haven't got enough to put on the bench... I can't see anything that could go wrong - whatever way you look at it, the figures stack up. Almost worked if it wasn't for that pesky points deduction.
Joey-deacons-left-nut Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Mate of mine saw the Team coach on its way to PLymouth, he said it looked pretty empty to him, I guess kids struggle to see over the window sills...
CB Saint Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 @solentsport: #Pompey team v Plymouth: Eastwood; Webster, Westwood, Grant, Butler; Wallace, Magri, Colson, Higgins; Harris, Thompson @solentsport: #Pompey subs this evening: Whatmough, Tarbuck, Maloney My favourite fact of the day.... Tarbuck's dad's name is Jimmy
Saint Keith Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 @solentsport: #Pompey team v Plymouth: Eastwood; Webster, Westwood, Grant, Butler; Wallace, Magri, Colson, Higgins; Harris, Thompson @solentsport: #Pompey subs this evening: Whatmough, Tarbuck, Maloney Jimmy?
Weston Super Saint Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Whilst I agree completely with what Claridge says, it's very easy for him to say it now. Did he actually wonder where the money was coming from at the time? Who knows. To be fair to Claridge - who IS a tool - even if he had those thoughts way back then, there is no way he could have expressed them to the knuckle draggers! Look at all the Pompey fans being branded as farking scaaaammmmmaaaaasssss and b-anned from POL just for holding an opinion contrary to the norm! Add that to the treatment of TBH et al who were perceived to have 'wronged' Pompey by asking for the money that was rightfully theirs! They received bile and resentment from the local rag and death threats from the local inbreds. Had Claridge been brave enough to voice his opinions a few years ago, I suspect he would have been pushing up daisies ever since!
yoda Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 It would be interesting to know if any local catering companies are dealing with them to provide the sumptuous pre-match buffet. . . . The pre-match sumptuous buffet is likely to consist of taking orders and then nipping out to a burger van on Southsea front. my money's on turkey twizzlers from Iceland
Jonnyboy Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Is the Pompey match on a radio link? I fancy a laugh.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 14 August, 2012 Author Posted 14 August, 2012 Yep, I wasn't 'slating' Claridge for what he said per se, rather how he came across as all surprised that administrators are leeches. As you say, that ought to be common and unsurprising knowledge from the offset. It's the typical "moan about it after the event" approach from our friends down the road. IMHO of course. 2m does seem a tad excessive though - I mean what has Birch actually done?
ericofarabia Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Is it live on TV back home? Why is it being played on Tues instead of Saturday?
Matthew Le God Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Is the Pompey match on a radio link? I fancy a laugh. If you have a Saints Player account you can listen to it here... http://www.player.pafc.co.uk/live-matches
CumbrianSaint Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 92% possesion for plymouth after first 8 minutes of play, glad i stuck some good money on this game
andysstuff Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Is it live on TV back home? Why is it being played on Tues instead of Saturday? No Brighton Swindon on - full cup programme last night and tonight.
The Kraken Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 You thought it was bad for Pompey? According to the BBC, John Gorman is playing for Plymouth.
Matthew Le God Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Why is it being played on Tues instead of Saturday? Clubs were given the choice when they wanted to play the games, between Saturday and Tuesday. The two clubs had to come to an agreement.
JackFrost Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 92% possesion for plymouth after first 8 minutes of play, glad i stuck some good money on this game Plymouth have had 6 shots on goal in 9 mins
saints_is_the_south Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 15 minutes gone and no goal yet, wtf is going on?!
saint si Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 A mere 6 shots after 11 minutes. So a quick calculation... Plymouth (league 2 dross, remember) are presently on course for about 50 shots at goal in this game. WTFILN?
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 I think I know why they haven't scored yet... Alex Grant concedes a free kick for a foul on Nick Chadwick. Paul Wotton takes the direct free kick.
KMondo Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 @solentsport: #Pompey team v Plymouth: Eastwood; Webster, Westwood, Grant, Butler; Wallace, Magri, Colson, Higgins; Harris, Thompson @solentsport: #Pompey subs this evening: Whatmough, Tarbuck, Maloney You see, they DID have a team all the time. Don't know what Appy was complaining about.
Ken Tone Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Plymouth have had 6 shots on goal in 9 mins Portsmouth are winning on fouls though!
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 14 August, 2012 Author Posted 14 August, 2012 If Plymouth cannot blow Appy's babes out of the water I would suggest they are in for a tough season.
ericofarabia Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Westwood off injured - only 3 on the bench to choose from. By God Plymouth are woeful as well.
Matthew Le God Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Plymouth are going to have a long hard season if this is the best they can do. Credit to Pompey's youngsters, but how haven't Argyle scored yet!? Westwood off injured, Pompey's oldest outfield player is now 18, with Paul Wotton playing its like a Dad's vs Lads match.
saints_is_the_south Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 At long last! 3 more goals needed in the 2nd half for £95. Was starting to get a bit worried, but with that goal just before HT and the fact that the longer the game goes on the more Appy's nippers will tire - still a good chance!
The9 Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 So far it's going exactly as expected, getting thrashed but hanging on, the first goal when it comes will signal an avalanche as the kiddies all fold simultaneously. Can someone check if my predicted 22 contains all of their players? Nice touch from the Skates only using squad numbers over 21 - typical wastefulness though, if they'd gone 1-11 they'd have saved £100 on shirt number costs.
The9 Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Good old Joe Gorman, knew it would be you! John. Johnny Johnny John John Gorman.
St. Neil Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Hasnt Westwood just come out of retirement? I hope its not serious.
CumbrianSaint Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 oh my god, I had plymouth ht and ft, talk about a close shave!
Pedro Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Steve Claridge @ClaridgeSteve And still they take the pee, bill for administrators "fixing" Pompey, nearly 2 million pounds, another name to add to the list of shame! I thought a business could only go into administration providing there is enough equity from the sale to pay the fees, if there is no chance of that then the business is closed down. Stand to be corrected but it must be remembered they are working for the creditors and not PFC. Just change the locks now.
Saint in Paradise Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 I expect my comment will not go down very well but hey ho. I actually feel some sympathy for those young lads NOT the rest of that club or "fans" though.
dingbattigger Posted 14 August, 2012 Posted 14 August, 2012 Anyone know how many of the bestest are there?

I actually feel some sympathy for those young lads NOT the rest of that club or "fans" though. Yeah they are pretty much blameless in all this. Should be a good lesson for other youngsters to avoid Portsmouth though!
