Minty Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Sorry but what does the appointment of this administrator mean? Thanks It's more the fact that it's NOT Admin Andy who was the clubs preferred choice. This way, it would appear to be a truly independent administrator who, hopefully, has the bigger picture in mind and not (allegedly) only the interests of Chainrai and co...
ohwhenthesaints Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 The skates seem happy about the choice of administrator too. Do they not realise than Chanrai may not want to fund it as he didn't get his way?
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 From the snooze Somone connected to the community pmsl buy out 85 oldredeye Friday, February 17, 2012 at 01:15 PM 76 - Sheffield - Once we have spoken to the appointed Administrator and have discussed the numbers we are up against we will publish our plans. I'm pleased our friend from across the water keeps panning us and calling us potless, it means we are a real threat to his friend BC and his debenture. I promise you, once the plans are published and put infront of fans you will see a roadmap to get this club back on its feet. I also promise you it will be a hard job, with many ups and downs but it can and will be done.
hypochondriac Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Lay off half the 500+ staff they don't need? But they can't even afford those staff (and probably 10 percent of the staff earn 90 percent of the wages.)
trousers Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 (edited) PFK so what does that mean then on enlightened ones? http://www.pkf.co.uk/pkf/people/pshr-8lmjql/trevor_birch Edited 17 February, 2012 by trousers
Winchester Red Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Sorry but what does the appointment of this administrator mean? Thanks What it means is that if they are going to survive, then they are going to have to get out of admin legitimately No dodgy deals. If they can't be saved he will liquidate Birch is a straight straight man
tony13579 Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Either he cuts it to the bone and makes it break even, Or he puts the sick PUPpy down
hypochondriac Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 The skates seem happy about the choice of administrator too. Do they not realise than Chanrai may not want to fund it as he didn't get his way? I think many are at the point that they would rather see the club die than Chanrai continue to profit. Shame they didn't take that approach earlier...
trousers Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 It's more the fact that it's NOT Admin Andy who was the clubs preferred choice. This way, it would appear to be a truly independent administrator who, hopefully, has the bigger picture in mind and not (allegedly) only the interests of Chainrai and co... But, given the Hobson's Choice, this is probably the better of the two for them (long term anyway)
The Kraken Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 The skates seem happy about the choice of administrator too. Do they not realise than Chanrai may not want to fund it as he didn't get his way? He wasn't going to fund it anyway, even if it had been UHY appointed, he was only going to loan the money (and probably as a secured loan so that he'd get it back in full plus interest). The Skates will of course be happy about this outcome; but then it does raise the possibility of any previous dirty dealing being identified and presented to the FL, which could have very serious consequences if Luton are anything to go by. Plenty of mileage left in this one yet, I feel.
dubai_phil Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Jesus H I had to pop out at 2:30, I get back at 5 and it took 30 minutes to catch up. Could this finally be a new dawn? A proper professional running poopey. Oh those skeletons are going to rattling cupboards over the weekend.
ooh it's a corner Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Sorry but what does the appointment of this administrator mean? Thanks It means that chinny loses his puppet on the inside. The administrator will now do what an administrator is supposed to do, reduce the outgoings to see if the business can be saved in the long run, as a going concern, rather than do what the owner wants him to do. This should mean that he will endeavour to replace existing higher earners with lower earners, if he can. Possibly this will mean that they start to field an 11 representative of their current plight. Good luck to him with that.
sussexsaint Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 No more backhanded dodgy deals. No more inflated debts, no more 'we will be taken over in three days.' PFC will no longer be able to run in admin whilst insolvent. If no buyer can be found (and it's going to take the new administrator a while to get acquainted with stuff) then he can (and will) liquidate. Then why are the phew so overjoyed that he has been appointed?
hypochondriac Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Note of caution though lads. It's possible now that Chanrai will have his charge downgraded to just a secure creditor. That makes the club a lot more attractive to a buyer and Chanrai loses his power.
Channon's Sideburns Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Like I said earlier...for our entertainment purposes, Skates should be careful for what they wish for. Karma could just be starting to come.... IF Mr Birch unearths a few bodies a la 'Whitechapel'....the fun (and penalties) could be endless.
Ohio Saint Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 If the skates are happy with it, maybe they are preferring plan B today.
trousers Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Rob Harris@RobHarrisUK Portsmouth administrator Trevor Birch works for same accountancy firm whose ex-employee embroiled in Tottenham Olympic Stadium police probe
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Then why are the phew so overjoyed that he has been appointed? Because 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of them are stupid
Sour Mash Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Portsmouth fans are putting me off football completely. How can people have such a blatant disregard for even the lightest, diet version of the truth? Make up your mind http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?35880-Echo-front-page&p=1276185#post1276185
hutch Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 @ollybirchpfc: Judge appoints PFK !!! Let battle commence.... For the first time in more than 2½ years I can now see an end to this thread.
dubai_phil Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Rob Harris@RobHarrisUK Portsmouth administrator Trevor Birch works for same accountancy firm whose ex-employee embroiled in Tottenham Olympic Stadium police probe
Ohio Saint Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 For the first time in more than 2½ years I can now see an end to this thread. I can see an end to it on Page one. Not as good as the other end though.
Minty Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 It's just struck me that the title of this thread is misleading. Should it not be changed? May I suggest simply: Pompey. LOL.
iansums Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Someone mentioned the admistartors were PFK but in actual fact it is PKF. Whatever happened to the PFK?
Lazlo78 Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Then why are the phew so overjoyed that he has been appointed? Because they know that BC and AA could keep this farce going for years. This way they'll see an end to the whole saga - for better or for worse.
bpsaint Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Shame this didn't happen a month ago so the administrators could have sold off their players and left them a bunch of kids and lower league players to choose from.
hypochondriac Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Then why are the phew so overjoyed that he has been appointed? Because as I said, they would rather the club were run fairly and liquidated then run dodgily and continue giving money to Chanrai.
The Kraken Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 For the first time in more than 2½ years I can now see an end to this thread. You're kidding? With an open and honest administrator there, the potential for exposing the previous regimes corruption and underhandedness is overwhelming. This could be just the start of the fun!
warsash saint Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Surely AA was OUR admin of choice .... apart from the comedy value, this would have allowed Chinny to rape P*mpey for the £17mm owed to him ????
Jimmy_D Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 It's just struck me that the title of this thread is misleading. Should it not be changed? May I suggest simply: Pompey. LOL. 'Pompey Financial Saga' maybe?
OttawaSaint Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 LOL...PFK! Here in Quebec that means Poulet Frit Kentucky (i.e. Kentuky Fried Chicken)...hope they roll the extra-limbed b@stards in breadcrumbs and fry them...
The Kraken Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Shame this didn't happen a month ago so the administrators could have sold off their players and left them a bunch of kids and lower league players to choose from. Still could; the administrator will look to cut costs where he can, which could/should mean he'll look to loan out the high earners. Even if they agreed to pay half their wages while out on loan that would save them £10K a week for the likes of Kitson and £18K a week for Ben Haim. Whether they'll find clubs stupid enough to pay even half of those super-inflated salaries is another matter altogether.
Shrek Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 it's just struck me that the title of this thread is misleading. Should it not be changed? May i suggest simply: pompey. Lol. :d:d
martyg1950 Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 So come on Football League, whats the delay now ?
TopGun Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Presumably Chainrai still has the option to close Pompey down by liquidating CSI... He may decide enough is enough and fold his cards now in order to call in his £17m charge. If he does that, it will be very soon as he doesn't want PKF paying out what little money there is in the bank to other non-secured creditors.
Saint dyer Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 So how many points deduction? Surely at least 20 :-)
Ampersound Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 what an enjoyable day. I love this thread.
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Still could; the administrator will look to cut costs where he can, which could/should mean he'll look to loan out the high earners. Even if they agreed to pay half their wages while out on loan that would save them £10K a week for the likes of Kitson and £18K a week for Ben Haim. Whether they'll find clubs stupid enough to pay even half of those super-inflated salaries is another matter altogether. Could we not offer to take all their players and pay a combined £1000 per week (we can all chip in together right lads?) thus ensuring they HAVE to play their youth team and get whipped every week 5-0. That would be great entertainment value plus it reduces their wage bill (a bit)
trousers Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 So, is this the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning?
trousers Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 So come on Football League, whats the delay now ? I'm hearing they went to get their arse in gear but banged their elbow instead
Channon's Sideburns Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 I'm working in Portsmuff tonight...
hypochondriac Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Lol Pompry fans are claiming people power swung it and saying what a great job they have done as if that actually had ANY bearing on the decision.
Pancake Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Then why are the phew so overjoyed that he has been appointed? Because, believe it or not, they want rid of Chanrai and his cronies. This administrator is the first break from the puppets in the last 36 months.
Chin Strain Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 LOL...PFK! Here in Quebec that means Poulet Frit Kentucky (i.e. Kentuky Fried Chicken)...hope they roll the extra-limbed b@stards in breadcrumbs and fry them... But Ottawa's in Ontario....
Minty Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 How soon are the Football League likely to announce it? Should be today, shouldn't it?
Weston Saint Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Trevor Birch is, in my opinion, the best thing that has happened to Portsmouth Football Club for years. They are now entering the end game. They will come out of this stronger and fitter with just the stability they need BUT only if Birch can find them a buyer. Birch understands football. He will cut them to the bone with the minimum damage to their playing prospects. He has the contacts and the respect. For Portsmouth Football fans, this is their Christmas.
