I don't post much on SWF but I've been lurking on/reading this thread from the outset. I've got to say that post is up there with the best. I laughed so much I got tummy cramps and very nearly shat myself. Well played Sir!

if this is true, taking Ipswich's £1m might look like a move in the right direction.

If true, then I would imagine Ipswich may revise their bid, unless there is a bidding war.

 

Why would they bid when they could just wait until Pompey disappear and all their players are released and can be signed for nothing?

I suppose it could be argued that 'getting in before the lock' means that they are at the front of a short queue rather than part of a post-liquidation bun fight. Possibly some merit in paying to be front of the queue.

As much as I'd love it to be true, we've seen all along for the past 3 years that they'll get out of it and continue as normal by whatever means.

As previously stated, probably once P*mpey pay the rest of their contracts off, P*mpey will be worse off

48 hours, where have I heard that before?

 

Thinking about it liquidation might now be a better option for Chinny. He is secured creditor as is Gayda on the land, they get first charge on any assets in liquidation. The parachutes are dwindling and will have to first go to football creditors. Assuming the remainder is put against the burn rate it might now be a better option for him to liquidate before he has to pay another round of taxes and wages.

Can't see them getting out of this this time. No cashflow means defaulting CVA payments/wages etc. and we're not talking a few thousand that some well meaning fans can throw together, like Darlo.

I agree with you. I think they have allowed the administrator to be soooooo clever, that it has created such a tangled web of masked ownership and legal agreements that nobody can quickly understand what they are potentially buying. Generally people with multi-millions to throw at an investment don't act in haste and want the legal reassurance that they are buying some worth what they're paying for it.

 

This is no longer possible at PFC, so their list of potential suitors diminishes very quickly.

time for the fools football league to give them all the money they clearly need and deserve surely?.

they cant have one of their members going down the pan making them look bad. afterall they checked the state of pompeys finances when they handed over the football share at the start of the season.

Well, yes...you maybe right.

 

BUT..most madly run companies take several years to go bust. Desperate and absurd measures are taken to keep the business afloat. Months - if not years - of agonising and increasingly farcical moves are attempted to keep the show on the road. But eventually, death happens.

 

It's not like Woolworths suddenly went "pop"...it dies agongisingly over a few years.

 

The skates are probably in same position.

I'm sure that this has been covered before but, will Pompey still get the parachute payments if they are liquidated? Supposing that they do, and they no longer need their golden share does the football creditors rule still apply or would it follow the normal procedures where secured creditors get there money first. I guess that what I'm alluding to is whether chinny has a get out by forcing the liquidation, taking the parachute payments and sticking two fingers up at the supporters? Fratton Park gets sold to the highest bidder to pay off the other creditors and Pompey United start again in a lower league, a really lower league.

not quite sure why there is so much excitement today. Cala was never going to buy them, not a chance, so him pulling out or being ignored was inevitable IMO. The fact they turned down a bid for players during the week tells me the other interested parties are much more serious. So nothing has changed from what I can see.

No club is going to turn down a potentially vital sum of money because of a possible but ultimately unlikely takeover.

 

I'd imagine selling assets whilst takeover negotiations are drawing to a close is frowned on in business circles.

OR

Newspaper = Ipswich bid 1mil

 

Reality = Ipswich bid something like 100k cash now 100k at the end of the season and the rest as add-ons ('cos not even Tractor Drivers are THAT stupid)

 

Which is the usual method of buying players
