sidthesquid Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 "We need a statement of intent to build the new stadium this year, and we need to start seeing lots of premiership quality players swelling the ranks before pre season. I reckon if we signed 10-15 good premiership players we'll do well next season." OK, which of us is HorseaHorsea ? Sadly, even after all this, there are still about 10,000 cod-bothyerers capable of writing this & believing it.
sidthesquid Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Can we change the title now to what I always thought it should have been - The Official Let's All Laugh At Pompey thread.
Jimmy_D Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Blimey, this thread is on topic for once! I suspect they're better off now than they have been for months, it'll be interesting to see whether their new owners are actually any good though.
Jimmy_D Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 I wonder if they own the stadium or the land around it... The stadium and the club were somewhat seperated when the default to Chanrai happened, and I'm betting Gaydamak still owns the land around it.
lumuah Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 OK, which of us is HorseaHorsea ? That would be me......
trousers Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 http://www.dubov.co.uk/contact-me/ Hmmm....just down the road from where I work....I'm popping out for a stroll at lunchtime and may be some time....

saintscottofthenortham Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Do we actually know what these new owners are like?

saint_stevo Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Been posted before but makes for funny reading, lots of begging going on. Convers Sport Facebook i went fishing over there and caught a big Skate
saint_stevo Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Ended up getting abuse for having a dead owner and then the post got removed....
The boy done well Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Who's the other Dubov then that's allegedly wanted by the Russian authorities and who everyone's apparently confusing him with?
dingbattigger Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Another dodgy takeover to add to the list. What is the fit and proper person test by the FA? How does one fail it? One doesn't. HTH
JackFrost Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Another dodgy takeover to add to the list. Some genuine questions: What ACTUALLY attracts them to Portsmouth? None of this 'great fans, history' nonsense, what really makes them want to take on a club with no assets and huge financial problems with a recent history of fraud? What is the fit and proper person test by the FA? How does one fail it? As far as I'm concerned it is merely PR. I don't think it even exists.
hutch Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Strange the silence surrounding the Mandaric/Storrie trial. Day 2 of a full-blown jury trial, and not a peep anywhere (apart from on here, that is).
saint si Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 So - new owners are installed down the road and not a whimper of discontent from the few. When they are inevitably run in to the ground and placed back in to admin (or worse), I assume they will not be placing any blame at the door of the Football League? No stupid protests with "Fit and Proper?" signs?
JonnyLove Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 So how much did they pay. I wonder if they got a discount as today is June the 1st and Chinny didn't want to stump any more cash to pay the players. Wonder if without this they would of been able to pay the wages. Will be interesting to see the deal on this one. Me thinks this is just the start for it to all happen again.
JonnyLove Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Al also wonder how much debt this puts against the club again as sure as hell they didn't put this against their own money.
bridge too far Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 So far my FB comment has survived and even had a Like!

Latest update on that one: Details:Trial (Part Heard) - Prosecution Opening - 11:34 Anyone from on here anywhere near Southwark court? All this FIFA news makes this not so news worthy so no reporters there it seems.

Sevvy Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Oh noes! They've turned on me with taunts about a 'dead billionaire to mourn'. Mind you a dead one is still better than what they have got.
saintjay77 Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Oh noes! They've turned on me with taunts about a 'dead billionaire to mourn'. I almost joined in to explain how those working for the club, represent the club that they support and chear on while it cheats to gain advantage time and time again. I figured that if they dont get it by now they never will so not worth wasting my breath. At least this latest take over means they should have a team next season so we have the chance of beating them. Had they gone under we wouldnt have had the chance to right the previous results. 1 season with us hammering them followed by the latest revelations of cheating and lieing resulting in points penalty's and liquidation would suit me down to the ground.
Shrek Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 So do we think Chainrai ever got his money back....presuming he ever put any in?
rallyboy Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 nice to hear the Silence of the Fish has ended and we are now being treated to abusive comments about dead owners - very classy, it's like Ted's silence all over again. Just when I was feeling sorry for them they remind me of why this thread has lasted so long and why it has been so much fun. The more sensible fans have lulled us over recent months - but as soon as they have two laundered pennies to rub together it looks like the cross-eyed, lucky heather peddling ones, retarded through sister-bothering, are back. The best thing the Russians could invest would be fresh DNA - that gene pool desperately needs a top up.
Spudders Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 i assume that following this good news, we'll soon see a return of Corp Ho to this forum!
Graffito Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 "The best thing the Russians could invest would be fresh DNA - that gene pool desperately needs a top up." Gene pool or pond life. Who in their right mind would invest their DNA in there.
derry Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Haven't SAAB been unable to pay their bills since their takeover?
BigShadow Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 There's something missing from this thread - Congratulations to the fishy few and well done for pulling off one of the greatest escapes ever............or have they. The takeover is done, but I suspect it won't be long before the skate comrades get restless due to a lack of high profile signings. Plenty more laughs to come over the summer hopefully.....and even more during next season.
hutch Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Haven't SAAB been unable to pay their bills since their takeover? I don't think unable is the right word to use. They just haven't paid them. They are so made for each other.

Kingsbridge Saint Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 And Pompey continue to plumb the depths. Now funded by the proceeds of organised crime (allegedly). A shining example that Blatter would be proud of.
Sour Mash Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 So despite the endless pages of incorrect predictions on here, it looks like they're getting away with it as I expected all along. Expect to see a reasonably competitive Skate side this coming season.

Expect to see a reasonably competitive Skate side this coming season. What makes you think this takeover will go well? None of the others have, and these guys look far from what I would want running my club given their murky backgrounds and links to the Russian mafia. This is just another disaster waiting to happen.

JRM Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 What makes you think this takeover will go well? None of the others have, and these guys look far from what I would want running my club given their murky backgrounds and links to the Russian mafia. This is just another disaster waiting to happen. come on, read back through some of the posts from this time last year from some real "know it alls", giving it the "don't worry they are toast" despite being in the cup final, and mocking anyone who suggested they were getting away with it - which is exactly what they have done!! it is a f*cking scandal, i bet the new owners have some connections to the Gaydamaks somewhere, who have magnificiently managed to end up with a club still in the championship and have lost the £138M debt weighing them down. you lot continue to mock if you choose, but we'll be playing a competitive skate team next season, for my own sanity i hope we smash them home and away
Sour Mash Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 What makes you think this takeover will go well? None of the others have, and these guys look far from what I would want running my club given their murky backgrounds and links to the Russian mafia. This is just another disaster waiting to happen. Yawn. How many times have we heard all this now? When they were competing in their latest FA Cup Final? Or we were told how they were certainties for relegation last year? Or were "toast"? How many people posted the stupid "toast thing? They were reasonably competitive last year and will probably be so again this year. Yes, these new owners don't seem the type I'd want at Saints, but I'm fairly confident in my assumption that they haven't bought the club to simply wind it up and will be looking to speculate a bit and kick on next season, however risky that may be in the long-term. I very much hope I'm proved wrong, but some of the self-congratulations on the last couple of pages from Saints fans makes me cringe. How can anyone find what's on this thread entertaining or enjoyable? It has completely the opposite effect on me!
Spudders Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 its rude to name names... "Our success is tainted because it was achieved using money derived from children being blown up in angola - that is what grates me!"
dubai_phil Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Spot the deliberate mistake.... A statement from the club said: ‘Convers Sports Initiatives plc, controlled by London-based Russian businessman Vladimir Antonov, has today completed the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Portsmouth Football Club following approval by The Football League. ‘London-based businessmen Vladimir Antonov and Roman Dubov, Chairman and President respectively of Convers Sports Initiatives (CSI), together with their partner Chris Akers, the former CEO of Leeds United and Sports Internet Group, have bought the Fratton Park club for an undisclosed sum from Hong Kong businessman Balu Chainrai, his brother Deepak and Levi Kushnir. ‘Mr Antonov, 35, Mr Dubov, 36, and Mr Akers, 46, manage the commercial development of a growing portfolio of sports teams, franchises and rights through CSI, including: the Russian Ferrari race team, the Spyker Squadron motorsports team and North One Sport, the global promoters of the World Rally Championship (WRC), the Isle of Man TT race series, the Velux 5 Oceans Race and Clipper Round the World sailing events. ‘In November 2010, CSI acquired a controlling interest in PowerPlay Golf the exciting new golf format which is now played in over 25 countries. In February 2011 CSI acquired North One Sport and in the same month purchased a majority stake in DBG Convers, a specialist in developing social new media solutions for sports and entertainment brands and personalities including world heavyweight boxer David Haye. In March 2011 CSI secured a 65% share of Executive Sport Limited, the parent company of the high profile “Leaders in Football” conference. In May 2011 CSI purchased a majority stake in Sports International Ltd, the holding company of popular online platform SPORTPOST.com. ‘Commenting on the Portsmouth FC acquisition Mr Antonov said: “We have conducted extensive due diligence and held detailed negotiations with a number of clubs in the English Premier League, Championship, League One and Scottish Premier League over the past twelve months. We ultimately selected Portsmouth Football Club because of its history, loyal fan base and its potential to return to the Premier League. “The supporters are amongst the most passionate in the game and that gives the business a strong foundation to build on. “We look forward to working with all those connected with Portsmouth Football Club including the management, players, employees and sponsors as well as developing close ties with the City of Portsmouth and the community. “We would also like to thank Mr Chainrai and his executive management team for their stewardship of Portsmouth Football Club through one of the most difficult times in its history, pre and post-Administration last year.” So the few are more passionate than Rangers fans in Scotland eh? Oh dear hope they don't get to read that. Oh and above The Owls & Palarce fans and other eh... lol
dubai_phil Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Do we actually know what these new owners are like? Yes. Think Rupert Lowe but with dodgy money. Arrogant, no respect for due process, will not listen to anyone who gives them any advice. Owners at one other club walked out on them. They embarrassed themselves with another club chairman by not even letting him open his mouth when they started to tell him why he was useless and should give them the club for nothing. HTH

dubai_phil Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 ... but Phil, you said these guys were talking over Bournemouth, not P****mouth? What went wrong? Perhaps the best answer to that would be "Who cares, as long as it wasn't us." Although I would imagine that more than a few Bombey fans may be asking somw searching questions of Eddie Mitchell this evening. Eddie refused to talk to them back last summer as he did not believe that they were serious about buying a football club and didn't think they had any money. He was quite eloquent in the Bompey Echo about them.
saintjay77 Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Latest update on the Storrie/Milan case is that there is a total media blackout on it. So we won't here about it till it's over I guess?
Gemmel Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 Latest update on the Storrie/Milan case is that there is a total media blackout on it. So we won't here about it till it's over I guess? Very interesting. I have been very surprised at the lack of coverage, based on the fact that the press were all over just their pre trail hearings. Could the lawyer that told me someone had turned Queens, been right all along? Bizarre.
angelman Posted 1 June, 2011 Posted 1 June, 2011 I’ve checked Google maps and found that companies within you group are registered in a small office in Enfield, why? Our company is made up from a lot of businesses and most of them are registered there – this is common for such enterprises. This make our accounts and finance operations more efficient and organised. We have a head office in the City in the building historically know as a first office of The Bank of Scotland in England. We employ over 12,000 people worldwide. If I was doing business with someone and they seriously came out with that, I would walk away as fast as I could without looking back. For such a "big" company, you would need a firm of proper accountants, not some mickey mouse one in Enfield, and use their address as the registered office. They may well have a head office in the City, but so what? Saying that slightly smacks of trying to convince people that they are kosher. We’ve heard that the Russian authorities are looking for someone with the same surname (Dubov), is this you? No, you are confusing me with somebody else. LOL
