Andy Oldknow confirmed as COO on Sky

Chief Operating Officer, not CEO.

South Today also mentioned (hinted?) that Nicola Cortese might have a role, perhaps he will be CEO?

Full interview with Fry later on http://www.bbc.co.uk\southtoday

I suspect Nicola (who is a banker according to OS) will have been a broker in the deal, merchant banker in our terms and hand over to whoever Markus wants to run the show

If AO did indeed bring Liebherr to Saints then, quite frankly, he deserves a role.

Being nice does not guarantee succes in business.......Branson, despite his public persona, is a really nasty piece of work.

At least Ao won't be pandering to the fans...which can only be a good thing.

You never know, ML may have recognised the strengths that AO has and is going to restrict his remit to that. As for man management - If he is poor here hire someone who is good at it. Everyone has weaknesses. The trick is identifying what they are and doing something about it.

Until the rest of the board / Team ML is announced is it going to be difficult to determine what he is going to be upto.

Alternatively, it could be a short term appointment for continuity purposes whilst ML gets a grip on what is going on. Who better to tell you what the issues are than someone who has been in amongst it before.

I had my share of "run-ins" with Andy Oldknow over the time he was here and I know the staff weren't keen but I think a lot of the problems originated with Jim Hone.

I have to say he was very accommodating with the Ron Davies appeal and did I think he had a passion about the club - we certainly had a few late night discussions! :)

Plus if he was instrumental in bringing in our Swiss saviour then perhaps we owe him big time!

Well if Mr Oldknow is returning & if he does read this forum my message to you is this. From the one and only time I met and spoke with you (shortly after your arrival) you came across as rather condescending, smug and full of your own importance. You also seemed rather dismissive of fans views. I do hope that you are not as bad as the impression that you gave but time will tell.

Today is the dawn of a new era for Saints. Despite my reservatiosn I wish you every success in your new post.

I was unaware that he had anything to do with the Swiss deal, I was just suprised to see him back, he wasnt popular in his short term here but willing to accept that he has helped us in our hour of need. I think I was just expecting a clean sweep and with no returning directors.

just watched his sky interview again.

He came across very well.

Talked about the negotiations and dealing with Fry etc - sounds like he has been very hands on in getting this sorted.

Said he met Wotte for a hour today and am meeting him next week to hear his views on what is needed to get promotion

At the end of the day the new Boss didn't create a huge company by appointing idiots - I would guess that he is a pretty good judge of character and he likes what he sees in Andy.

One option is that ML has had a good look and the internal workings of the club, thinks it could be done much better and needs some big and quick changes made. If, as many say on here, AO is a complete B4ast4rd then he could well be perfect.

For me what is important is to get the front of house sorted quickly i.e. the team. That is the most pressing concern.

from what i remember he made a right royal tit of himself last time round but like others have said, if he has had a hand in getting us rescued then well done. hope this time things go better for us and in turn AO then great.

The less I hear from the new board the happier I will be though. Dont want celebraties in there. Just people who can steer our club in the right direction.

:D

Nail on head.

Seems as our saviour is putting together a business structure. Also don't think that these guys will get away with poor performance - no business I know will put up with poor performance at that level, COO's are responsible for the operation delivering.

The old Saints Trust board (including Steve Grant, Ladysaint, Exit2 and Steve Godwin) got to know him quite well!

I never met Oldknow when with the trust and you should know :)

If he ****ed off that lot hes got my vote !

yawn!

Joking aside (well i know you're not joking really;)) if AO being at the club means the Saints Trust won't be listened to then it is a good thing.

I hope ML will be more hands on than is being indictaed on here. We desperately need strong powerful leadership and it is ML that has demonstrated that (I assume he nust have to have made all that wedge) not AO.

I think people on here should stop telling the club who to employ and in what position and start doing their job - supporting the Saints.

If this chap is good enough for the new owner he's good enough for me.

YES. But I don't think every poster will share your and my view!
