brmbrm Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Help me guys please: memorable Saints victories over Liverpool, home or away, dates and scores, or link to somewhere I can get the information. Sorry to distract people from the great takeover day: daughter is marrying a scouser on Saturday and i need some ammo for my speech!
Papa Shango Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 http://www.soccerbase.com/head2.sd?team2id=2471&team1id=1563
saints_is_the_south Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 2 nil win at SMS in 03/04 season, Phillips & Beattie scored & Niemi also saved a penalty from Owen. There was also a 3-3 draw at the Dell when we come from 3 nil down to draw, late 90's. I'm sure older fans will have a lot more memories from the past!
alki_in_korea Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 4-2 dell in the snow maybe 1992? maskells dayview le tissier hatrick..maybe 2 pens
Toadhall Saint Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 4-1 At the Dell early to mid 80's - played them off the park MLT was sublime!
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 We beat them at The Dell in the early 80's. Danny Wallace scored an amazing overhead kick which won goal of the season.
Evil Monkey Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Sturrocks first game? 2-0 win. Stunning header from Riise. Good times.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 4-1 At the Dell early to mid 80's - played them off the park MLT was sublime! I think you mean 90's. It was a Monday night Sky game if I remember correctly.
Kevo7 Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 We won 2-1 at anfield fairly recently. Ormerod and Killer scored
saints_is_the_south Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 We won 2-1 at anfield fairly recently. Ormerod and Killer scored 03/04 again i think, did the double over them that season!
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Just mention Danny Wallace's bicycle kick! It was an overhead kick. It won goal of the season. It was a Televised game on a Friday night. 16th of March 1984.
alki_in_korea Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Sturrocks first game? 2-0 win. Stunning header from Riise. Good times. Best header ive seen bar benali's
Papa Shango Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 We have a pretty good record against them. My best memories of games are 2-1 win at Anfield 03/04, Ormerod and Svensson goals. 2-0 at SMS 01/02 Riise OG 2-1 at Dell League Cup Soltvedt last minute winner
Toadhall Saint Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 I think you mean 90's. It was a Monday night Sky game if I remember correctly. Nope defo a Sat
Crab Lungs Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 4-2, February 4th 1994, Le Tissier 3 and Maskell. Great game, reignited my love for football.
saints_is_the_south Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Best header ive seen bar benali's Wasn't Sturrock's first game though. Riise own goal was in the 1st season at SMS. Sturrock's first game was the 2 nil win V L'pool in 03/04.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Nope defo a Sat But MLT wasn't playing in the Early 80's? The SKY game I'm thinking of was the 4-2 match in the snow when MLT got 3.
Lets B Avenue Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 I think you mean 90's. It was a Monday night Sky game if I remember correctly. No. He's referring to the 89 game. Rieout, Rod Wallace 2, Le Tiss. Sky game you are on about was the 4-2 in the snow mentioned earlier.
brmbrm Posted 8 July, 2009 Author Posted 8 July, 2009 Thanks all - I have come up with 4-1 (21 October 1989) and also 4-1 in the FA Cup 2nd round, 1902.........
RedAndWhite91 Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Apparently we didn't win this day, but we did out-Liverpool Liverpool! Watch this goal!
Nutwood2 Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 It was an overhead kick. It won goal of the season. It was a Televised game on a Friday night. 16th of March 1984. Yeh. That's what I meant. I was there. Magic!
Toadhall Saint Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 But MLT wasn't playing in the Early 80's. Prob too much celebrating today. I can remember MLT be very young and playing wide right - magic cross for for Rod Wallace to score with good old Brucie G absolutley stranded - gonna have to look it up now!
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 No. He's referring to the 89 game. Rieout, Rod Wallace 2, Le Tiss. Sky game you are on about was the 4-2 in the snow mentioned earlier. Ah, right. It was his suggestion that it was early to mid 80's that threw me as MLT wasn't playing then. I immediately thought he was talking about the 90's game when we scored 4. Either way, there's not may sides that can say they've put 4 past Liverpool in the 80's or 90's
Toadhall Saint Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 No. He's referring to the 89 game. Rieout, Rod Wallace 2, Le Tiss. Sky game you are on about was the 4-2 in the snow mentioned earlier. Blimey was it really 89!
Papa Shango Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 arrys first win...2-0 i think David Prutton's finest hour. Thought we'd be mid table after this game. We played them off the park.
Junction 9 Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Thanks all - I have come up with 4-1 (21 October 1989) and also 4-1 in the FA Cup 2nd round, 1902......... That was a classic. I can picture Dalgleish's miserable face in the dug out to this day.
Micky Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 4-2, February 4th 1994, Le Tissier 3 and Maskell. Great game, reignited my love for football. First game I took my son too - it doesnt get any better than that...!!!
St Landrew Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Thankfully, people haven't linked my videos this time. I get all the pleasure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0StQKf5NRp4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbUUlrNG3jo Must get around to doing the rest sometime.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Apparently we didn't win this day, but we did out-Liverpool Liverpool! Watch this goal! That's superb! Never mind Liverpool. The Brazillians would be proud of that one
Lets B Avenue Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 1-0 Anfield Nov 28 1981. Moran 89th minute put through by Keegan. I was on the Kop trying not to cheer, along with the now, Hampshire CC groundsman and a fellow poster from the Woolston area. :smt039 Best scouse comment. "That wasn't smash and grab. They never smashed".
OttawaSaint Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 There was a brilliant 3-2 win at anfield when David Hirst bagged a couple, can't remember the year, 94 maybe?

Miffy Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 was in the milton for that one... it snowed then too Me too. I remember my mate won £200 off the concourse bookie for the correct score.
yellow&blue Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 2 - 0 win under Strachan at Anfield a few years ago! I was there, Ormorod and Killer with the goals! Liverpool were poor and I loved every minute of it, I was interviewed on Radio 5's 606 after the game!!!! Ahhhh memories!
lumuah Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 2-1 , 80's somewhen - too young to remember exactly. Armstrong and Case both scored crackers if I remember correctly. That game, under the east stand, turned me into a Saints fan
kwsaint Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 1-0 at the Dell in the 73-74 relegation season - Channon penalty. Shankly wasn't happy!
ooohTerryHurlock Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 I think you mean 90's. It was a Monday night Sky game if I remember correctly. no - he means the 4-1 victory not the 4-2 victory which was on Sky in the snow!!!
vince Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Apparently we didn't win this day, but we did out-Liverpool Liverpool! Watch this goal! You don't need a speech, just say "Welcome to a true footballing family", sit down and press play on the OHP. Top draw, that goal. Happy days.
Chez Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 2 - 0 win under Strachan at Anfield a few years ago! I was there, Ormorod and Killer with the goals! Liverpool were poor and I loved every minute of it, I was interviewed on Radio 5's 606 after the game!!!! Ahhhh memories! as we went 4th in the table. What a day that was. Omerods goal...what absolute ****ing joy that was. I even managed to collect my car without having to pay the scouce urchins their protection money.
Chez Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 That's superb! Never mind Liverpool. The Brazillians would be proud of that one What a goal. Massive smile on my face. Boy do I hate Liverpool.
pilsburydoughboy Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 4-1 89 was stood under the east stand by the tap. Watching the video i spied a few old faces like the now landlord of the ice house in the Milton road end.
jawillwill Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 arrys first win...2-0 i think Yea Prutts scored and Crouch scored a thumping header I seem to remember. Although I seem to remember not many pundits giving us much credit, most putting it down to "the worst ever Liverpool performance". Hell, it still felt like a bloody good win to me at the time!
Right sider Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 4-2 dell in the snow maybe 1992? maskells dayview le tissier hatrick..maybe 2 pens Valentines day! Also 1984? Danny Wallace overhead kick was goal of the season and saints won.
