SaintDonkey Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Bugger me - Jan does like his midfielders doesn't he!
alpine_saint Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 How long is this recuperation going to take ?
alpine_saint Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Bugger me - Jan does like his midfielders doesn't he! Seems to be a pre-requesite for being manager of SFC...
Window Cleaner Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 He's the next Zidane. Not at 5ft 8 he isn't. Zidane is a big bulky bloke, well over 6 ft tall, low centre of gravity, not easy to push off the ball. Gasmi isn't a flyweight but he's much smaller than Zidane.
saints-cris Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=10529 Good stuff.. gives Lallana some competition.
Johnny Shearer Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Not at 5ft 8 he isn't. Zidane is a big bulky bloke, well over 6 ft tall, low centre of gravity, not easy to push off the ball. Gasmi isn't a flyweight but he's much smaller than Zidane. Ha I was only say that as I read it somewhere. Seems like a lot of promising youngsters keep getting labelled as the 'next' Zidane but they tend to fall by the wayside. Lets hope Gasmi proves an exception to the rule.
southamptonfclegend Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 How long is this recuperation going to take ? 4-6 weeks it says in the echo
TopGun Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Well done Clunge, you beat the other two threads so I will call you the official Gasmi thread
DT Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 One legged striker-excellent work. We're also getting Heather Mills on a free.
Clunge Posted 1 September, 2008 Author Posted 1 September, 2008 Usually I prefer to come second, on this occasion I'll accept first though ;O)
buctootim Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 We're also getting Heather Mills on a free. We should ask for more than that. Last owner paid £48m to terminate her contract.
Scudamore Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Not at 5ft 8 he isn't. Zidane is a big bulky bloke, well over 6 ft tall, low centre of gravity, not easy to push off the ball. Gasmi isn't a flyweight but he's much smaller than Zidane. So he's the new Fabrice Fernandes?

Seems like a lot of promising youngsters keep getting labelled as the 'next' Zidane but they to fall by the wayside. Lets hope Gasmi proves an exception to the rule. I don't know anything about Gasmi but I saw Zidane play quite a few times, his was a physique that made you think twice about going in a giving him a bit of a nibble round the ankles. Hard guy Zidane,Used to get a lot of cards in his early days I think.No-one who saw him walk all over that Saudi guy in 98 or get sent off for a head butt in the 2006 final would call him a softy.
trousers Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Does his name sound like a super hero if pronounced correctly?
Give it to Ron Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 We're also getting Heather Mills on a free. We should ask for more than that. Last owner paid £48m to terminate her contract (quote) Plus he had to buy her a plane....... and a razor for the other leg......sorry coat got!
Window Cleaner Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Does his name sound like a super hero if pronounced correctly? What like C3PO?
DT Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 She's cup-tied but should be back for the second leg. etc etc
a1ex2001 Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Shame he can't play at full back and he's crocked.
Window Cleaner Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Shame he can't play at full back and he's crocked. I still don't understand this obsession with full backs. When the system works properly we don't need specialists, we need mobile players-which is what we have. Our problem isn't full backs ,it's carthorses in central defence. They should be gobbling up anything that comes in from the wings, they aren't because they weren't jumping, turning or moving any faster than spastic slugs on Saturday. All our problems came from there and Gillett giving free ball away.
trousers Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 What like C3PO? Was thinking more of something that went alongside Spiderman (Scheiderlin). Perhaps Gasmi is French for Batwoman (for example)
eurosaint Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 We're also getting Heather Mills on a free. I would leave her alone for the moment as I heard that after the courtcase she was 'hopping mad' !
trousers Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 (edited) http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=10529 Good stuff.. gives Lallana some competition. That OS article doesn't stack up though.... "With the transfer window slamming shut at midnight tonight, Saints were keen to add another promising young option to their squad." "Gasmi joins on a season long loan, with an option to purchase" If it's a loan then tonight's transfer window deadline doesn't come into it....does it? OS spin or just an oversight? Snowballs2 Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 I would leave her alone for the moment as I heard that after the courtcase she was 'hopping mad' ! Nah now she is divorced she is footloose and fancy free as they say
Window Cleaner Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 (edited) Was thinking more of something that went alongside Spiderman (Scheiderlin). Perhaps Gasmi is French for Batwoman (for example) Gasmi isn't french for anything, it's a name of Algerian origin, what it means I have no idea.Seems like a common name though. We'll just have to settle for calling him Gasman Edited 1 September, 2008 by Window Cleaner

All our problems came from there and Gillett giving free ball away. find me a successfull team anywhere in the world that has aperated without decent specialist full backs, if your comment held an ounce of truth why do all the top teams in all the top leagues play with proper fullbacks? What ever you say about mobile players the first job of the defenders will always be too defend and our full backs let the oposition get into two many decent crossing positions putting the central defenders under too much pressure. Next you'll be saying we don't need a prolific frontman we need a mobile player who can get people involved, oh thats what we have and it's not working! Not knocking his siging he may indeed be quality but hardly our most pressing need.
Saint Martini Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Bugger me - Jan does like his midfielders doesn't he! Since we're playing 5 of them in the current system I can't blame him.
SaintDonkey Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Is this the sugar for the pill of the news that we're losing BWP? Admittedly that's not a pill that needs any sugaring for me

toofarnorth Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 That OS article doesn't stack up though.... "Gasmi joins on a season long loan, with an option to purchase" If it's a loan then tonight's transfer window deadline doesn't come into it....does it? OS spin or just an oversight? After the transfer window you can only take emergency loans which are limited to a maximum of 3 months I beleive.
trousers Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 After the transfer window you can only take emergency loans which are limited to a maximum of 3 months I beleive. I sort of recall this one being churned around this time last year. My recollection was that there were 3 different "window" deadlines ....a transfer window, a (non-emergency) loan window for non-premier league teams, and finally an emergency loan window. I could of course be imagining the middle one of these....
saintbob40 Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 I was trying to think of a witty retort on a Heather Mills theme but alas I am stumped.....
LaptopSaint Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Notice the OS is making much of the fact that he's grown up with Spiderman. Hope that doesn't make Gasmi this year's Imants Bleidelis or (insert name of rubbish player who came from Equador with Delgado). Oh I see, the new Zidane (short version). That's alright then. C'mon Romain.
Kadeem Hardison Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 I also know his former coach Jean Claude Papin. If you know him that well, you'd know his name was Jean-Pierre Papin.
St Landrew Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Sadly no-one else has seen it apart from Me and TG. I'll merge them all at some point.

I'm waiting for the big announcements of whose leaving now. Probably be a bit like January and they'll only be announced very late.
The Fat Controller Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 a pair of tights lasts her twice as long!
Window Cleaner Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 If you know him that well, you'd know his name was Jean-Pierre Papin. he might also know that J-P.P was at Strasbourg for one season only. Although he did give Gasmi 14 games in that time.
saintkiptanui Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 I'm with this one, much better quality.
buctootim Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Lets whack another 1,000 posts on each and get this to the top.
trousers Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Lets whack another 1,000 posts on each and get this to the top. Done
Window Cleaner Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 I'm with this one, much better quality. That's because I have deliberately refrained from posting on it.
ottery st mary Posted 1 September, 2008 Posted 1 September, 2008 Since we're playing 5 of them in the current system I can't blame him. 15/16 Is that enough, mind you some are not fit enough for several months but we can still pay there wages. They had better be good or at least a worthwhile gamble. Fresh legs at xmas eh! Strange..
