saintwarwick Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 Anyone who thinks MLTs reputation has been really damaged by this is a bit odd, imo. I prescribe just 2mins watching his goals on YouTube. In fact, here you go - on me : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSsdfe4Z69g Spot on alpine, MLT's reputation will not have been damaged, he tried to do something for the club he dearly loves. saintwarwick Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 Good evening everyone First of all, I would like to express my own welcome to the new owners of this great Club. Whilst selfishly dissapointed that our deal did not come to fruition, I am selfessly pleased that a new owner, who looks to be a great prospect, has bought the Club. I know many will ask questions over the coming days and weeks about the other parties interested in the Club, and whilst I'll be happy to answer anything within reason (and permissible under the NDAs which I had to sign), I really hope this is the beginning of a new era in the Clubs history and you guys get all that you deserve. For my part, having become involved with the Club in an advisory capacity to interested parties, I've got somewhat of a bug - and I must confess that I may well now have to make the time to come and support the team. I wish the new owner all the very best, and I really do hope that all of your true fans can unite and give your total support to make this Club great again. You guys are the bread and butter of the future, and I'm sure the vast majority of fans will turn out in their numbers and do their bit. All the very best Tony You tried your best so thanks for that. Hope you get to a few games and see the fanbase we have.

sadoldgit Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 I had grave doubts about the whoe MLT as Chairman malarkey. Great player, knows his burgers but a business man? Anyways, hopefully he can take over from LM as a "front man". He was probably very silly to let himself be used but we all know his heart was in the right place and that is what counts. Still, that is all behind us now, time to look ahead.

Tractor_Saint Posted 8 July, 2009 Share Posted 8 July, 2009 Ok, can you let me know when the time is right ! was it the right time when the accusations were made ? A) I think, had Tony felt the need to defend himself, he'd probably have done so through the press rather than this forum or offered up his own explanation here B) The way you've asked the questions appeared to me to be more threatening than trying to help C) We've found a buyer. 'The Times understands that part of the attraction of the club to Liebherr, a deeply religious man, was that they were formed in 1885 by members of the St Mary’s Church of England Young Men’s Association, hence the “Saints” nickname.' interesting, nice to think this all goes full circle, he is interested in and fully aware of our history. BARCELONASAINT Posted 9 July, 2009 Share Posted 9 July, 2009 Like everyone else on here i have been following the events of our soap saga of a takeover on a daily if not hourly basis, i believe i have worn out my refresh button and worn out my better half with my constant ramblings about failed bids etc. When the news came through yesterday afternoon that we had all been waiting for i was elated as the next Saints fan but rather than type away at my keyboard and join in the celebrations i went and id some gardening and simply reflected on being a Saints fan. Without our club and without our history and all the ups and downs we have had to endure it just would not be the same. We are Southampton no matter what life chucks at us. You can keep you Chelski's, Manure and the rest, there is only one club that gives a fan every emotion under the sun and that SFC. Roughly translated: Liebherr does not want to reveal the purchase price, however, speaks of a "modest financial commitment." As to the question, why Liebherr did not decide to get involved with a Swiss club instead: "I'm not a football expert, but this project seemed very appealing."
