Since the news was released late afternoon of the near completion of the takeover I have been surprised by the lack of ‘celebration’ on this site. I of course completely understand the risk in celebrating until the deal is signed, but my concern is this.

What I have seen so far is the opening of old feuds between forumers. The restarting of old threads to prove a point or one-up-man-ship IMO is just unnecessary. We have the dawn of a completely new era for Southampton Football Club I for one have not known much more than Rupert Lowes tenure and I am so much looking forward to what the future looks like.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that isn’t it time that we all forget the past and reunite under one banner, the split in the fan base has not helped in the past and neither will it help in the future.

Someone once said ‘A journey of a thousand miles starts with a first step’. I for one will be on that journey and I hope that you will all join with me in forgetting the pasts right and wrongs and who’s to blame and who has mislead who and start a fresh and support this mighty club now and into the future.

Saints fan = Cynic

Although it was the Dark lord who created the cynicism. Henc e the infighting, there has been ALOT of water under the bridge. I think tomorrow will bring us together for the first time since the original Ted Bates statue thread!

Having sat here for over two years and witnessed umpteen 'almost takeovers' I am very unsurprised by the lack of 'celebration' tonight

sounds about right :D. I for one am not gonna get too excited till its officially confirmed.

Will we get another false dawn?

A small WOOT for now, OK a big one. But I am waiting until the official confirmation before getting rascally drunk in celebration.

I'm saving the proper cheers until it's formally announced. But I am excited as all the signs are suggesting that it's a done deal. I've got everything crossed in the meantime - I'm hoping it won't take too long as it kinda hurts! LMAO

I appreciate the sentiments but, once the initial feel-good factor has worn off, somebody will be questioning the choice of manager/coach, complaining about the lack of investment, why we didn't buy Ronaldo, etc, etc.

One step at a time, I say...

This alledged "fan split" hardly ever manifests anywhere other than on dicussion fora IMO.

You rarely see a "split", before, during or after a match. Clearly unanimity is an elusive beast but a "split" such as would have a detrimental effect? No.

I agree about the lack of celebration... I suppose this has been rumbling on for so long that a "Eureka" moment was bound to happen eventually. If this is completed and things look good I predict a real mood of celebration at the Ajax match though.

Wouldn't it be great if we could unite the club? Unite the City? Fill the stadium? The wave of optimisum alone would put us in good stead for promotion.

Here Here

or is it Hear Hear

or Here Hear

or Hear here

you get the idea anyway

It's "hear, hear"

Everyone seems to write "here, here" which always annoys me.

The incantation is a hearty request for people to listen to and take note of the speaker's remarks, not a comment on geographical positioning...

Linguistic pedantry lesson over.
