Give it to Ron Posted 7 July, 2009 Share Posted 7 July, 2009 (edited) I managed to get tickets for me and my lad today.....whats the best way to get there train to Vauxhall? I saw they had coaches from Rosebowl to Lords for £19 each. EDIT Just realised Vauxhall is for the Oval...d'oh! Thanks for suggestions chaps. stevegrant Posted 7 July, 2009 Share Posted 7 July, 2009 Full marks to Transport for London for closing the Jubilee line on the day of the final... I'd go into Waterloo and get the Bakerloo line to Baker Street - you can either walk from there (about a mile), or there's a bus replacement service for the Baker Street to St John's Wood section of the Jubilee line. Neil Posted 7 July, 2009 Share Posted 7 July, 2009 Fast train to Waterloo, then Jubilee to St John's Wood. Piece of cake, tried-and-tested for Hampshire trips to Lord's! Always a good blast on the train going up, first beer at around 8 / 8.30 is standard procedure. Should be an awesome day!

dubai_phil Posted 11 July, 2009 Share Posted 11 July, 2009 Sounds like we should find somehwere to meet up for beer - think our blags are in the Grandstand upper tier debenture area. Last time we made the final a mate got us a good deal at the Charing Cross Thistle - about 50 quid including full English (no idea if it would work today) - anyway it let us have a decent dinner and a big night out after the game, but also we made the booking on a "just in case it gets wet" basis as we went to the rained off Gower final many years before and are still scarred by that wasted day and ticket! Will do some research & let you know Ron, otherwise it'll be the long slog on foot from Baker Street, but hell 3,500 miles to get the chance to walk a few miles in an English Summer - bring it on! chrisobee Posted 12 July, 2009 Share Posted 12 July, 2009 It really isn't that far from Baker St/Marelybone or even Swiss Cottage. The No 13 bus takes you from SC to Lords in about 10 mins and also serves Baker Street if you are coming from that direction- also about 10 mins. Not really a long slog Phil especially as you say after coming 3500 miles! http://www.londonbusroutes.net/times/013N013.htm

Trust me we're stuckin doors here for the next 2 months 42C today we don't walk anywhere in the summer (except onto the greens to putt) so a gentle stroll will be just perfect. Better than joining the queue of 12,000 cricket fans coming up from Waterloo and Victoria waiting for a bus  I'll fly in Friday evening, find a cheapie hotel and get some proper Fish & Chips and some Real Ale in and amble my way across town Saturday morning, then go have a few sherberts after, saves a couple of days car hire and petrol down and back and down. Think the Dubai Saints flag should be getting an outing for this one! Where did I put it after the forum match? Actually found Swiss Cottage used to be quicker than St John's Wood due the the massive queues after the game
