Wade Garrett Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 go to your nearest bookie and go large on us getting promotion next season. F*cking great. Make my Summer if the Skate 'takeover' goes tits up as well.
Mattio Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Don't count your chickens before they hatch! Still may not go through!
Mole Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Give it a few years and we'll be singing "tra la la la la la la we're gonna send the Skate ****s down" as we put the final nail in the coffin as they tumble into L1. After having them rub it at fratton when they beat us 4-1 i'm going to enjoy every minute of their demise.

Matthew Le God Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Currently 20/1 with Ladbrokes If this takeover really does bring the cash for players then those odds will come crashing down in the next few hours.

I fookin hate that song,it reminds me of sitting in a meat wagon outside fratton whilst listening to that song being sung by the skates all the time being reminded of the score by skate old bill......fookin great day.

You may hate it, i hated it too, infact it just put the cherry on the top of the most miserable season ever. But just imagine how the Skates would feel if we returned the favour.

I just hope the swiss will throw as much stupid money at the club as possible Too right, with a few signings we could make the play-offs and it's likely they'll be relegated. This time next year the tables would then be well and truely turned. We can but hope.

dockland Dave Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Can we all calm down! Firstly the deal isn't signed yet, and secondly I suspect next season will be one of consolidation, midtable mediocrity, and I will be happy with that. We have no idea of the potential new owners spending plans, so lets be realistic with our expectations, and perhaps we won't be disapointed! As for a manager, surely its only honourable to give Wotte a real chance. Let see what the bloke can do without the pressure of the club about to implode! Remember the grass is always greener.
kpturner Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Reality will set in at about half time vs Millwall at home ;-)

Exactly, some of the posts on here remind me of kids running around all excited on Christmas Eve. Not only do I agree with everything DD has posted, but I also don't think that it is likely that the Pompey takeover will fall apart either. We are going to be looking up at them for some time yet - so best get used to it. Ok so the Swiss guy has money - but that does not mean that he is about to p i s s it all away on SFC. Lets wait and see how things pan out before we all go mental - we've done absolutley nothing yet, and next season is going to be probably one of the hardest in the last 5 years. Yes there is good news coming, but we are still in League 1 with one hell of a fight on our hands.

Even reading those `lyrics' makes me feel sick.

Honourable to employ a tactically inept manager who has relegated not just Saints but 70% of all other clubs he's managed, slags off the fans at the call of Mr Lowe, was part of the original gang who said Youth total football would work and cant even motivate his team to beat non-league sides? I'd take a dishonourable tactical genuis with manmanagement skills and an understanding of League 1 and the CCC before Lowe's choice.
Pat from Poole Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 go to your nearest bookie and go large on us getting promotion next season. F*cking great. Make my Summer if the Skate 'takeover' goes tits up as well. Would love to agree, but I think it's too big an ask. Even if we weren't starting on -10, it's going to be a tough League and the squad really needs an overhaul. Wotte has started well by looking at Murty from Reading, we need at least another half-a-dozen or so experienced players to make us competitive. I'm far from convinced about Wotte, the next few weeks will be very interesting in terms of which players he tries to sign. He really doesn't need to spend much at all, there's a lot of good experienced players in the lower Leagues who are not expensive. I'd rather put a bet on none of Saints, Charlton or Norwich going back up. Leeds and MK Dons are sound bets for being first and second, they've had a few seasons in League 1 and know what's required.

rick1976.4.38 Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 have to say this will be one hard season, leeds are still here after 3 seasons,so it wont be easy.a season of stability i think and then hopefuly promotion in the next season.coyr
Chez Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 I reckon Norwich are nailed on for promotion next season. (F*ck me, we're talking about football again). the way Charlton tore us apart at the end of the season makes me think they look a better prospect. They also looked better than us at their place as well - actually I still wonder how did they went down? As for us, I wonder if we are capable of attracting the right players we need to turn us into a lightweight, old, slow, basic side into one that can win pretty much every game.
