Bourno Posted 7 July, 2009 Share Posted 7 July, 2009 The Echo, best paper in the South. I live in Fish land and get their local rag every day (The News). Apart from the skate football coverage it is actually a very good paper for local news. I work in Fareham sometimes and get hold of the echo and it is really rubbish in comparison. I only continue to buy it for news on the Saints.

I wonder what his motivation is.......if its a purchase out of his own money (rather than one of the companies) then just may be he likes footy and wants a club of his own to indulge in. Now wouldn't that be nice.

The Liebherr Group and Marcus's own companies are not involved. However, there are an awful lot of possibilities for an investor with nerve, a sense of timing and funds to exploit. Jacksons Farm is one of them but there are a whole host of other opportunities. Waterfront, mini Casino, hotel plans (remember that one) The Liebherr family don't strike me as daft, they will have seen an opportunity not just a potential black hole. A lot for us to yet learn about them, their team of Directors and their motivations and plans. It's great so far and I do think it will get a lot better, but we all know what happened last time round when a couple of muppets screwed up the last take-over (HOW hard IS it to close the door on someone in a takeover FFS) So let's wait for SOME real facts before deciding we know what they intend to do for the next 1, 3 or 5 years

Bongo badger Posted 7 July, 2009 Share Posted 7 July, 2009 I think Southampton Fottball Club will be a great marketing asset regardless of his intentions, The money these kinds of people can generate from outside contacts is painful for us humbles to even contimplate. Lets hope he/they use some of there expert knowledge in business to build a footballing empire down here on the south coast while generating finance for the local communitiee. Hopefully someone at the club will get this idea and save the Hagiologists from having extra expenses by giving away free books. But yes, those books can turn anyone into a true believer page by page :-)
