ozzmeister Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Newcastle (if you believe reports) can seem to wrap up a takeover in a matter of weeks and our continues to drag and drag and drag! Dont get me wrong I am in support of Fry and understand how hard his job is (being in that industry before myself) but the ongoing saga is begginning to get a bit annoying now! If it drags for much longer we are missing valuable prep time, potentially loosing good players who want to stay and possibily missing out on good players. Lets hope today is the day huh!

They are not in administration and are a big club I would have thought. But the club has been up for sale for months
fanimal Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 cos they aint in Admin and have to satisfy several creditors and then the FL. Perils of Admin for all to see laid bare. nearly over hopefully........
maddog Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 because the club has been up for sale for nearly a year!

Their deal isn`t done yet.
Frank's cousin Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Their deal isn`t done yet. Indeed, all they have is two offers that match the 100mil sale price - no due dilligence or legals begun yet - and that could still take weeks or months to conclude....
trousers Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Newcastle (if you believe reports) can seem to wrap up a takeover in a matter of weeks and our continues to drag and drag and drag! Aren't they more or less in the same position we were in May 2007? i.e. not been in the Championship long, not in Admin and a (supposedly) rich potential owner knocking on the door? And we know what happened next....
RedAndWhite91 Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Because we are Southampton FC and nothing is easy
St Landrew Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Because we are Southampton FC and nothing is easy ...and not Stockport County.
SaintRobbie Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Toon want to announce it before they see we're a richer club.
saintjay77 Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 If we had 1 owner that was willing to sell we could maybe have had a buyer long before going into admin. We didnt though, we had 3 owners who all thought they knew best and none wanted to be proved they didnt or let the others get any glory. Now we have the administrator acting like the 1 owner and even he is not finding it that easy. The toon as just going through the same as us but they are on the right side of Admin and doing the same things.
dubai_phil Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Maybe because they used professional advisors such as Seymour Pierce oh
trousers Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Maybe because they used professional advisors such as Seymour Pierce Like SLH/SFC did during 2007/08....?
Bartosz Bialkowski Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 Like SLH/SFC did during 2007/08....? Whoooosh

gonzo Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 It could be done for Newcastle soon. Let's not forget that due dilligence isn't needed for them.
Ronaldo's a pansy Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 It could be done for Newcastle soon. Let's not forget that due dilligence isn't needed for them. What ? Is there a special get out clause that you know of that allows them to not have to go through DD ?
gonzo Posted 7 July, 2009 Posted 7 July, 2009 What ? Is there a special get out clause that you know of that allows them to not have to go through DD ? It was a reference to the fact that Mike Ashley bought them without going through due dilligence. Because he's a cretin. Due dilligence is not a legal requirement, but common sense when going through with a transaction that large.

Newcastle have been up for sale since September 2008. So if by "a matter of weeks" you mean "ten months" then yes, it is amazing they have done it in a matter of weeks. It's frustrating ours has dragged and dragged over, er, four months. Oh, now it is all "wrapped up", who has bought them, by the way? I think I missed that on the news.
