If this keeps dragging on what will be the situation for those season ticket holders (e.g. me) who are away on holiday at exactly the wrong time and lose out on a chance to renew their preferred seat(s)?:([-o

Thought I saw a poster at Heathrow on the way out that Vodafone have removed roaming charges in much of Europe?

Mobile & credit card may be the way to go (but probably cannot ring an 0800 type number)

No idea if that will help

Not all Swiss companies shuffle money or make drugs, some actually make things out of big lumps of metal (including mine too). This is something we are not really used to much in the UK any more.

Not quite sure of your point here. My company does none of the things you list. What I was saying was that engineering companies overseas and their owners aren't necessarily high profile outside their own sphere, one I'd be shocked if a provincial sports journo was especially well up on.

From Fry's perspective he doesn't give a thruppenny wobbler whether the new owners are good for Saints, the fans or whatever, he's employed to get a good deal for the creditors - so if Pinnacle, Jacko pr whover offer a better price for the creditors any billionaires offering elss can go whistle from his PoV. Doesn't help us as fans but that's Fry's duty.

Fair point also. I suppose it does depend in what sphere you do work as many engineers would have heard of them but we are a shrinking crowd. Also journos only get off on celeb sh*te, money and politics these days.

So - apart from a bulging brown envelope, a nod and a wink - why did Pinnacle get the nod ahead of this Swiss fella?

MLT link probably - I wouldn't underestimate his influence and how much the general public were desparate to see someone that actually cared about the club in charge for once

I doubt that this would have influenced Fry one iota.

But I am intrigued as to how Pinnacle came up with the funds when they seemed penniless and leaderless when required. There was of course good old 'Uncle Leon' to fall back on,and like MLT he was reeled in.

Leon's silence on the matter would suggest so. I expect we will have our answer once the club is sold, assuming it will be

On another note, my mate in the shipping industry deals with the Liebherr Group, he'll be in contact with them today and he asked if he should ask them about Saints.

I told him not to with the words "you don't want to be solely responsible for ruining any deal do you?"

He never replied.

Right, and their sports editor had heard of them before last week? I hadn't and I work for a company HQed in Switzerland

You could well be right.....Solent talk to someone who purports to be someone else with money....No confirmation from Fry suggests we are guessing...Not a word from company suggested...

No disrespect to Solent or The Echo.....Journos who would have em...

COYRs[-o

Someone please:)

Solent said the report in the Daily Mail is not quite correct.

They went onto say that they (Sports editor of Solent) have personally spoken to the Swiss Group.

The Swiss Group is backed by a billionaire member of the Swiss Liebherr family, however it is not the brother and sister who head the international conglomerate.

Solent stated this is still very good news.

They have made good progress but there are still a few issues to be sorted out.

Solent were questioning why, with a member of the world famous and wealthy Liebherr family trying to buy the club, did Pinnacle get exclusivity.

Knew it was too good to be true!! Let's hope whoever it is, they are still minted, and the deal still goes through. At least Solent seem positive still.

I share their confusion on why Pinnacle got exclusivity, when this lot sound so much more of a solid organisation...?

Perhaps it's just that Fry does have a soft spot for us by trying to get the best buyer that has a footballing background (provided he gets his price).

No news is good news we are told. Why? We all want to hear some news telling us that we can continue or seasonal love affair with our club. The swiss make world class watches so they should know a thing or two about time. Something we are running out of so please can you get a blooming move on?

But the Swiss were in the frame when he gave Pinnacle exclusivity - or are you saying Pinnacle were going to pay a higher figure? Who knows... thought I thought he'd have checked on availability of funds a bit closer.

Anyway, who cares if we get the right outcome!

Solent ran a slight update on the 12'noon news update.

I transcibe, thus:-

"The Liebherr family are behind the post-war success story that is the Liebherr Group, a company set up by Hans Liebherr that has excelled worldwide in construction, machinery and plant , and has since diversified into a number of companies that between them turned over more than 8,000 million euros last year.

Contrary to newpaper reports the Swiss bid for Saints hasn't come from siblings Isolde and Willi Leibherr that run the group, but from one of their as yet unnamed relatives that is behind a different company.

BBC Radio Solent also understands that the bid is in an advanced stage, and could be completed before the end of the week."

End of week!

Did think in morning report they said it was another sibling rather than just family member? They were saying that it was dad's company/money not owned and run by the two in mail, but they had another sibling???

So does this mean we are not the seventh or so richest club in England and Tevez will not be signing?

Just had my shirt printed with TEVEZ..do you think I can get a refund.

Another day with more stories and speculations, it is good to know that we can wake up every day to something consistant !!!

Friday, 2pm press conference. These guys really know what they are doing, even understand the takeover conventions.

And I'm just predicting the above. I don't know.

That was my (probably flawed) reading. The Swiss have been interested all along as we know, but not into paying silly money for a product that might be worth less if the FL were to refuse removing the 10 points, which proved to be the case. Pinnacle presumably had offered more (gambling on their shadowy investors stumping up) because they, and Fry too, believed there would be an opportunity to appeal. So when this didn't happen. and Pinnacle backed out, Fry turned to the Swiss's slightly cheaper bid.

But now that Gillico are waving cash about the Swiss may be sticking to their origial price. Not a buyer's market since Gillico came onto the scene.

But I am possibly quite wrong. I have no inside info at all.

You are absolutely right. And we were only too relieved that someone was interested when it looked like we were dead. Pinnacle and MLT did at least start the very heavy ball moving - sort of.

And for that I am grateful.

Liebherr are everywhere!

Just come past the roadworks at M3 Junction 3 (Ligh****er). The piling rigs on the hard shoulder have Liebherr on them like Komatsu or Bomag, so heavy industrial equipment it is.

It was a message sent from above.

Went pass one of their cranes on the M271 earlier today. Power of attraction me thinks.

Just going to have a glass of wine out of my amazing Liebherr wine fridge - absolutely excellent, holds approx. 500 bottles graduating in temperature up each shelf to give you the perfect temperature for each style of wine. Suddenly, we start seeing a name that has probably been around us for years, without us noticing.

I wonder if they will be backing further development of Southampton docks? It's got to be one of the best ways to get the local council onside; financing the local football club. How many cranes will they need then? Probably make loads of other stuff that is used in the docks aswell.
