I will wait for the press conference before getting to exited

I am with you there. So many false dawns so what is the point in getting excited until any deal is signed sealed and delivered?

The press conference and when that ink is dry on the contract is time to pop my champagne cork!

Nah. Your posts have slipped into that "I am being told carp" - which funnily enough, is usually the diametric oppostite of what is happening. Im not interested in your "who knows more people and sources pi ssing" contest.

look back, don't I have ever said that, I was told it was very close when it didn't come to fruition but all other details have later been said by Fry or reported in press.

Ignore it, but don't make it into a contest as it isn't - only in your mind, chill out!

I can't see what all the argument is about. The Echo have been pretty comprehensive for once so it looks like they are talking to somebody.

Their news: The Swiss have gone home leaving it in the hands of the lawyers and advisors as they need third party agreements and their timetable has slipped to early next week.

The worldwide financial group using Keith Harris of Seymour Pierce look like they are the front runners and the 'current bidders'.

It all looks a bit déja lu to me.

Fry simply talked about being "very pleased" when Pinnacle went into exclusivity. I think Fry's statement today about being very confident of achiveing a sale in short order is much much stronger - as someone else posted - given the conservative language of an administrator it is tantamount to saying its a done deal.

I'd be surprised if the big push isn't on, they won't be waiting for the Swiss to complete early next week.

Not sure what you mean derry - who are 'they'? I thought the Swiss were the bunch nearing completion. Who's likely to beat them?

Wordwide financial services company advised by Keith Harris of Seymour Pierce. It appears that they are the current bidders, the Swiss need third party agreements (which could be the league but I think it's their end) and have gone back, leaving it in the hands of lawyers and advisors. It appears that they can't complete until early next week.

Gillico have made the £12.5m bid, but Fry is saying he can see any of three completing - but in order of most likely

1) overseas investment group I mentioned before, base in Monacco

2) Swiss

3) Gillico

But all positive and professional so could go for any and would be happy (Fry) with any.

as above

Thanks for that - I saw the name in the Echo article:

it is firmly believed that the both the Swiss consortium and the Worldwide Financial group are still the two front runners.

Seymour Pierce were of course trying to sell the club a couple of years ago.

Is any more known about Worldwide Financial?

Thanks for the clarification. You will understand and hopefully excuse a trace of cynicism in one so old... :)

Sorry only just logged on and caught up, so its a Worldwide financial company that is close, do we know who they are? (how ironic if it was barclays)

I was really starting to feel that SFC was like the ugly one still sat on the edge of the dancefloor when the slow dances kicked in at the end of the evening....now I feel like we're beating them off with a stick.

hhhhmmmmm again

And who historically has good relations with Seymour Pierce?

Hopefully Amanda Staveley and some of her pals from Andy's contact book down this way, the alternative is too horrific

Will you stop intimating that name.......you said he who must not be named would never come back!! You said it!!!

Which suggests a deal could be done this weekend with Worldwide fsc but don't they have to get the proposed board members vetted by the FL before they can sign a contract?

Hey Amanda can come back ANY time she wants - and not just for her contact book

Oh you meant THAT name. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm in reality though, how many takeovers did we "almost" have over the past years, all of whom would have spoken to SP, so in fact it is not that strange to think that it may have been one of oh no helpme..........

No he's been too quiet on here of late

Oh oh

What I am saying is I have no idea and am thinking only nice thoughts of Agent Dunham this evening - ok I lied they were BAD thoughts....

Sounds positive. For the first time, i'm projecting cautious optimism into his photo on the OS, not the butt-clenched, gallows grimace of a man who has no idea what to do with us

The good times are nearly back. Maybe one day I'll even be able to look back at this period with fondness. All the drama - has certainly made the dead summer months pass alot quicker.[/QUOTE]

speak for yourself mate

So in IP speak we have a deal done and could even complete over the weekend. AND it happens to be announced nearly on a Friday

And yet the forum still refreshes within an hour per page and everyone else is off down the pub.

Boy have we become immune to interesting news these days

"Maybe next week, Jack?"

I know lads, I say this every Friday. MaA(n)ana but always maA(n)ana...

I'll believe it only when it happens. Mark Fry is probably bigging up the situation to create the impression to his board that he is close to meeting some internal deadlines set for Wednesday. Only believe what you can see, no what you hear and never what you read in press statements.

If he is he can have it. I won't be there along with a whole lot of others.

I don't believe for a single second that he is returnng nor do I have any particular desire to see him return but are you seriously telling me that you would rather the club went out of existence rather than see him back?!!!

So there is still time for a **** up then, we are SFC afterall.

Nah, I dont think there is. Ive defended Lowe in the past but I dont think theres a person alive, probably him included, who would think coming back for a third time would be a good idea. I think it will be all done and dusted very soon without a former chairman in sight.
