S-Clarke Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 He's due to Start against Bournemouth - i guess he'll sign now too.
WestSaint Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 That could be excellent news. The team needs stronger characters imo willing to stand up and be counted and look as though they may be enjoying the game!
ypbl Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Anyone know if he is still with us ? He was on South Today - visiting the young girl in Hospital at reading who is tragically paralysed after falling from a tree. He came over very well - seemed to have a great sense of community and seemed a strong character which is what we need from a captain The BBC website has a written article on this story for anyone who missed South Today. The last sentence mentions his trial at Saints. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8141238.stm
Toadhall Saint Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Would be a good signing IMHO - type of player we haven't had for a while.
benjii Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 He was on Radio 5 between 9 and 10. Seemed like a decent bloke. Grateful we've given him a chance to train. He's impressed with how fit we are!! Says he has a point to prove. Could be a great signing IMO.

Maybe wrong, but if it was SGH, maybe he was passing on his way to St Marys, possibly to be measured up for a kit.
SaintSparky Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Sign him up, his experience is exactly what we need as we rebuild our club.
BotleySaint Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 He'd be good for a year or two but at 34 (35 in Nov) I can't imagine he'll be that pacy at right-back. Seems a top bloke of course. Does he play centre-back too?
Bailey Posted 8 July, 2009 Posted 8 July, 2009 Hopefully Murty impresses during his trial. Now that we're in a position to offer him a deal, I'd like to think we can snap him up now! He's exactly the type of character we need at our club as we begin to re-build and his experience will be invaluable to our very young side.

Maybe wrong, but if it was SGH, maybe he was passing on his way to St Marys, possibly to be measured up for a kit. The girl was a Reading fan and was in Southampton hospital. If you look back on the official site (I think) it was said that Murty would not be playing at Totton as he had a prior engagement. I assume visiting the hospital was the prior engagement.

lee_saint Posted 13 July, 2009 Posted 13 July, 2009 Is that Jermaine Wright, Adam Hammill and Jon Parkin or all in one person? F*ck me, looks like he's been on the beer over the summer.
miserableoldgit Posted 13 July, 2009 Posted 13 July, 2009 F*ck me, looks like he's been on the beer over the summer. According to Stewart Henderson on Solent this morning, he has looked very fit in training! Let`s hope that it`s the old "the camera puts 10lbs on you" syndrome!

Rasiak-9- Posted 13 July, 2009 Posted 13 July, 2009 Ironically I hope the cameras are accurate! Short and stocky with a low centre of gravity is exactly the build for a full-back we need. Mills/James/Surmans trouble playing that position was that often their opposing wingers would be stronger than them and charge past them far too easily

Jesus Reigned Posted 13 July, 2009 Posted 13 July, 2009 I was watching Murty doing shuttle-runs at Bournemouth on Saturday, and he had the acceleration of a Lada. Would still think there's a place for him if he has some pacy support, as his experience should be very useful next season.

Mills/James/Surmans trouble playing that position was that often their opposing wingers would be stronger than them and charge past them far too easily our lack of height and pace at the back have got us into far more trouble IMO. Is he really going to be an improvement on James? I'm amazed at the number of people desperate for his signature. I wonder how many of these people have seen him more than once or twice.

The worry is that the management/coaching staff believe he is fitter and faster than most of our players who have had a full pre season of fitness training.....Some of them being likened to A Robin Reliant that goes over when someone does heavy breathing...:smt073
