sussexsaint Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 It is not Pinnacle, it is not the Swiss......... It must be Red Bull!! ????????????
NickG Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 I would say so too. Fry has said Pinnacle have not re-opened discussions yet. ** BUT! Solent also said that when asked if Pinnacle were the bidder, Fry said "not as far as I can tell" or something similar. Struck me as a strange response - I mean surely he f-ing well knows who he's dealing with?!? thought the pinnacle thing was quite clear - solent saying heard they are back in running Fry saying they had not been in touch. Separate from questions about who was proceeding
sussexsaint Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 Did they give any indication of when this decision about an announcementwas going to happen??
saint lard Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 Did they give any indication of when this decision about an announcementwas going to happen?? No.
Ian the Red Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 ???????????? I had heard before, the posts on here, that the Austrian consortium was indeed Red Bull... I did not bother posting as thought it was total rubbish. Since then there have been rumours so who knows. Fry told Solent it was not the Swiss nor was it Pinnacle. So maybe it will be Saints playing at the Red Bull St Mary's stadium????

Master Bates Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 certainly didn't say it wasn't swiss in the sports report at 8.20 which is where most of this comment is from. +5.
egreog Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 Bet there is nothing new today , tomorrow or Monday........not quite sure what the definition of "rapidly" is when it comes to Saints...........seems the usual shambolic tyrekicking that will come to nothing as usual!
Ian the Red Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 Nick: only heard the last bit on Radio Solent @ 8:20, Pinnacle not involved and unnamed bidder in advance talks looking for a rapid completion etc. So assume the Swiss were not involved.

70's Mike Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 do the two words in the thread title go together? or is it a first normally Solent Reacting
Ian the Red Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 Why do you assume this? Assume this as fry has stated the Swiss interest before. He is now saying an unnamed bidder. It is someone or some group not previously mentioned. Personally I really do not care who it is as long as someone comes in and buys the club soon!!
slickmick Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 If it was that close to completion I'm sure Mark Fry would have worded it differently to rapidly. Nothing will happen today imho.
Toadhall Saint Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 Can we assume nothing is going to happen today? Suddenly it doesn't seem to be a deadline afterall. Are the league happy for us to keep stumbling along with fewer assets to cash in for wages each month? Just as long as we meet our financial commitments then they are happy (but not ecstatic).
Katalinic Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 I wish Solent or SSN would just ask him "Is anything going to happen today or not?". I need to know whether to bother getting too involved in work related matters.
norwaysaint Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 Didn't Gavyn Davies once say he would only step in if it looked like the club would stop existing otherwise? That's my guess.
Paul Chuckle Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 Solent talking about a "statement" from Fry this morning. I think they believe it might be THE statement we've been waiting for, but I am not confident it will be anything other than to confirm he's got someone interested and because we've sold Surman, he can extend the period before he liquidates. only another 45 minutes of this morning left according to my watch, whats the betting that we hear nothing
slickmick Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 I wish Solent or SSN would just ask him "Is anything going to happen today or not?". I need to know whether to bother getting too involved in work related matters. I dont think it will happen today but still cant help myself viewing this time consuming forum whilst being bored to death listening to Radio Solent. I will play golf this afternoon to take my mind off it. If I see TL I will pass on any messages.
thorpie the sinner Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 the whole of the forum is playing golf!! I will have to announce takeover myself as everyone else will be at Turnberry!!
70's Mike Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 the whole of the forum is playing golf!! I will have to announce takeover myself as everyone else will be at Turnberry!! could all be playing Saturday afternoons in future

saints triumph Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 It is not Pinnacle, it is not the Swiss......... It must be Red Bull!! more like red herring
slickmick Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 Wish i could play golf.....tut Wish I could aswell. But the thought of sitting my Pinnacle ball on the tee and taking my anger out on it seems quite appealing at the moment. FOURRRRRRRRRRR........OOps, sorry Tony didn't see you there.
Toadhall Saint Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 How is that enough though? Surely you can't begin a season looking like you won't finish it? or still in admin? we wouldn't last 2 months with what we have left to sell off. So there's definitely no deadlines at all? This is just set to go on and on?? I take it that means the extra -15 is pretty much guaranteed? Would have thought it is anyway by now. I think I read somewhere on here that the club can be in administration for upto 18 months. There are probably some caveats but it looks like 18 months.
Toadhall Saint Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 That's what i'm starting to think will happen. It just doesn't seem likely anything will happen, and it's saints, so continued gradual demise seems to be the only way. so continued admin, -25 points, very low crowds due to lack of players, no chance of promotion, wotte, relegation, and possible further -25 in league 2. okay, i'm not being very optimistic, but i'm ill, redundant, and saints are ****ing me off. I think we will be taken over and pretty soon. But I do understand lack of optimism given you current situation(s). Just imagine how you would feel with a) saints being taken over b) getting better and c) getting a job offer! It can all happen quite quick and I genuinely hope that is the case for you.

You feeling the love today Toady? Maybe its a Karma thing, if we all do something nice - or think nice thoughts about fellow saints - we will get teh takeover? ;-)

Nineteen Canteen Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 Wish i could play golf.....tut No you don't. Most Golfers strive to reduce their handicap and some play off scratch but when it comes down to personality, social skills and business acumen they tend to play off 25+. Its a game for sad loners, husbands with dreadful wives or men who were crap at sport and so thought they would try golf as they could play in their normal trousers and jumpers and look competitive with a pathetic gimme of 30 shots and then find they still lose. The cure for social housing in this country is under our noses and with a ready supply of building sand or playpits.

Nineteen Canteen Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 There must be something your good at. A few things, masturbation is one although the only benchmark I have is that many on here think I am a 'total w4nk3r' and I have never been one to argue with the experts.

I did play golf, prior to blowing up my knee representing stevegrant's team, whom i still blame. Played off 7. It's a game for those who want to get away from the mrs for a few hours, enjoy the weather (on occasion). I guess the fact it is a Gentleman's sport rules you out?

BYW, Stevo the fact you told me your handicap kind of supports my theory. You must be very proud, does you wife and family share in your joy?
thorpie the sinner Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 (edited) How on earth did we manage to start arguing about golf???? FWIW, I play off 18 and have a lovely wife!! Just don't rate Pinnacles.... Edited 3 July, 2009 by thorpie the sinner
niceandfriendly Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 I lost a Pinnacle ball down at Chilworth the other day... then they withdrew their interest. Eek.

Gordon Mockles Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 That's twice 'flid' has been used on here this morning and as it's a reference to Thalidomide I'd say we could probably do without it . Lighten up! Considering you're standing on the shoulders of "midgets"

OldNick Posted 3 July, 2009 Posted 3 July, 2009 I only have played golf a few times. I went out for a round with my mate when I was about 19 at bramshaw and he was a golf nut.It was my first proper round after about 9 holes I had done ok and went for a shot and played an air shot 'thats a shot' he called. With that i had a strop and said 'rights that it Im not doing anymore' packed my clubs away and let him play the round by himself. I met up with him the other day nearly 30 years later and we had a great laugh about our competitve spirit as it was then.
