Mole Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 Just had a massive row with the school run mothers parking outside my house. It drives me ****ing crazy when i can't park outside my house and that combined with the hot weather really tried my patience. ****ing cheeky ***** said in a sarky tone "it's a public road" and she didn't take too kindly told to "get back to your kitchen sink" went she went off on one. I'm still fuming.

bridge too far Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 Once I had the temerity to park, on the public road, in front of a neighbour's house. She retaliated by parking sideways behind me. So I drove forward onto her drive (that she could have parked on) and reversed round her. Her face was a picture. Silly woman (her, not me) I wasn't blocking access to her drive, BTW

Baj Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 Indeed, anyone who lives near a school has to expect it. Its hardly a hardship is it, they must only be there for 30 mins.
Hatch Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 On a similar vein, the mums on the school run who persist on parking on the zig zag lines outside the school or actually drive into the school and park on the pavements don't seem to like it when I repeatedly punch them in the face. bungle Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 You don't own the road outside your house, so pipe down. Inconsiderate parking is one thing: i.e. people parking over driveways, preventing you from getting access; but just parking in the street? No problem at all. Cry baby. Spades Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 I understand where your coming from. I live right next to a school and when i return home on the occasion it is very frustrating to see cars parked in 'my' space outside my house. Unfortunately its something we got to deal with by living here. I just park a bit further down the road... its only an extra 30seconds to walk
JustMike Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 to you its "your space" but to parents picking up their kids its just another parking space. Nothing you can do
Mole Posted 2 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 2 July, 2009 The problem is that parents can now pick and choose which school they send their kids to. The school near me is a good one, so they come from miles around.

Presumably you'd not seem to like it if one of them had a nutcase of a fella who came round and carved you up for dog meat then? Seriously though, it's only a parking space, they are gone after 20 or so minutes normally. Then you can step out from behind your twitching front room curtain, run down the road and race your car back up to 'your' space!
Julian H. Cope Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 I accept that there is nothing you can do about parking on a public road. Although it does p*ss me off when teachers from a school near to me park outside the house, they've got a car park ffs. I have had many a punch up with drama & science teachers. Weston Super Saint Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 Or someone moving next to a pub and complaining about the drinking. I know you were being sarcastic, but I have that issue. Not just one neighbour but 3, all complain when we have loud music in the pub - which is always finished by 11.00pm - and complain when people sit outside in the summer. It wouldn't be so bad but the pub was built first! One of them I am lead to believe is even an ex MP.

Redbul Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 But it is hilarious. If I have to use the car to pick my nipper up from school I park well out of the way and take a minute to walk down the road. The Mums all try and park around the gate that the kids come out of like iron filings around a magnet (insert your own preferred simile....). It's false time keeping; by the time they've managed to manoeuvre their way out of the melee they've helped create me and nip are at home watching Spongebob. The people who complain are generally new to the area, often retired and don't see the economic benefits that longer term residents do. Bloody white settlers! StuRomseySaint Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 When I do the school run I park in the dentists sometimes. That annoys people. Another time I parked in a car park to a block of flats... a PUBLIC car park, not residents. One of the residents parked behind my car saying it was her space and refused to move. I gave her about 10 minutes grace but I was keen to get home.... unlucky for her I had the Frontera at the time.... so just pushed her silly little Micra out the way.... although I didn't park there again, she wasn't happy. Block 18 Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 There is a simple solution pay your council about £450.00 for a drop kerb, have the white line painted and bingo your own personal no parking zone
saint lard Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 I lived in very close proximity to Heathrows flight path, the house next door was sold to a couple, no sooner they moved in you could hear them moaning about the noise of the aircraft. Mind you in saying that when Concorde went over at about 18.30 every day the house shook and the you lost the picture on the tellybox for a fair few seconds. I loved it though. The only way is to get yourself a disabled badge ( anyone can get one ) and get the council to come and paint you a disabled bay outside your house. Now unless the school run mum is also a spacker... she won't be able to park in your space. No need to thank me.

I loved it though. I used to work directly alongside the runways, it was a truly amazing aircraft*. From a time when we used to make our own planes and not pay the wealthy men of the world for the priviledge as we now do, in the process making this world a not nice place to live for anyone anywhere on this whole planet. * my second favourite noise.
