bungle Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 (edited) Good opportunities for some money, with the start of the Europa League today: My accumulator today is: Dinaburg Dinamo Minsk Zimbru Randers Sligo Rovers Helsingborgs I am also thinking of taking the 12/1 on offer for Llanelli to beat Motherwell in Scotland. Motherwell only have 12 senior players (who knows if they are all fit), and Llanelli can play some decent football. I can see an upset. p.s. The post would be much better on the betting forum, but it appears there isn't one. Edited 2 July, 2009 by bungle

bungle Posted 3 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 3 July, 2009 Lol, No I assume Llanelli won !! 1-0, Stuart Jones with a 28th minute back post header. Thing is, I think they are less likely to win the 2nd leg now.

You are probably right and will be a much shorter price anyway I imagine. If I had seen the post yesterday I would definitely have agreed with your logic and based on that 12/1 was way too big. Ah, one of those really annoying "if only" moments. I know the feeliing well !!
Rut Posted 4 July, 2009 Share Posted 4 July, 2009 Bottled it, didn't I. Did anyone take it? Tip of the century, IMO. I would laugh cos I bet you feel worse than after any losing bet you've actually done. I won't laugh though. You probably remember this one: My last home game before moving to the USA was Hull City. I (half) joked to everyone that it was a guaranteed 4-0 win for Saints - my leaving present. I was gonna do this @ 50/1 at Hills in the centre of town. 20 quid minimum - prob more as had quite a few 20's I had to 'use up'. Anyway that day it really p*ssed down so despite getting to Old Fat Cat for opening time (5 mins from Hills) - never made the walk to the bookies. Left the pub a bit late so got to the ground after kick-off - couldn't even get on at the 33/1 (I think it was) that Ladbrokes in the ground was offering. I've never been so gutted ever. Final score - 4-0 to f****in Saints. I think I may have got locked up insanity if we had got the 5th - man would I have celebrated like crazy. That 'non bet' is still one of my worst ever. Painful. A bit like yours here Bungle - if you say it - DO IT!!!!

Has the Government's decision to outlaw internet gambling been a successful one?
Rut Posted 5 July, 2009 Share Posted 5 July, 2009 Just out of interest Rut, how easy is it to get a bet on in America? Has the Government's decision to outlaw internet gambling been a successful one? That law is a total git. It means that most of the UK sites don't allow you to register. Betfair won't even allow you to log on if it detects that you are in the USA. Reading forums you are meant to be able to get around it short-term by using various proxy servers but it's more hassle than it is worth. I don't bother. That said I know you can still use StanJames over here (if you've set up an account with a UK postal address) - plus probably a lot of others. It's a real shame that Betfair doesn't work... You can use sites like: http://www.sportsbook.com/ http://www.bodog.com/ to place a bet. However some banks won't allow you to put money into an account with them. Again there are various ways around it (e-checks I think work fine) but again - it's all a lot of hassle. The 'powers that be' are attacking the way money is put in and out of gambling sites - the sites are just about winning but it's messy. I think (hope!) it will all open up one day - just not yet though. For Poker I use PokerStars. I can easily put money in and out of there via my UK bank account. You can log-in and play fine over here. There are other ones: http://www.internet-poker.co.uk/US-Online-Poker-Sites-Accepting-USA-Players/ but I've used PokerStars for ages and just like it. The USA gambling laws are screwed up anyway. ie if you go to the centre of downtown Indianapolis there is an 'off track betting facility' (bascially a bookies). There are 3 levels with 100's of TV's. There is a bar and you can smoke. You can bet on anything here with cash at the counter - they pay you out there and then should you win (exactly the same as in an English bookie). Links: http://visitindy.com/indianapolis/web/jsp/restaurants/detail.jsp?c=9327182:showhide&p=1 http://www.hoosierpark.com/otb.html If they can have this here all legal and above board then why can't there be these places everywhere? Who knows.... but basically having a bet over here is harder than back in the UK. Hard - but far from impossible.
bungle Posted 9 July, 2009 Author Share Posted 9 July, 2009 2nd leg tonight. Llanelli cut to 4/1. Motherwell 4/7. Tonight's recommendation is a TNS (6/5) and Vilaznia (10/11) double.
