Best (so many but my personal favourites)

Saints 3 West Ham 3 (1971/72) (shown on Match of the DAy) 3-0 down and came back with terry Paine going mad after scoring the equaliser

Saints 5 Blackburn 0 (1977/78 promotion season revenge for Battle of Ewood game when Ossie and Steve Williams were sent Off)

Saints 4 Liverpool 1 (week after we'd won 4-1 at QPR in Nicholl Era)

Saints 2 Newcastle 1 (Matty scored 2 great goals the first just as Branfoot was about to bring him off)

Saints 6 Man Utd 3 (great to thrash Mancs, Keane snet off and great Matty chip for second goal)

Worst

Losing 2-0 to Brighton days after we'd beaten Man U 3-2 at home 1981/82 ??, win would have put us top, but we put in numerous high balls allnight which Steve Fioster won with ease.

Losing 2-0 to Pompey in their one season up in the 1980's

Losing 6-2 to Spurs in FAC after being 2-0 up and winning the game easily.

the evening game v Newcastle. 1-0 down with about 5 minutes to go.Looked like it was our lot and we'd go down. The announcer came over the tannoy would the Archers please sit daown. That sent a wave of disobedience around and the Archers and ground just lifted. The atmosphere just changed and the Newcastle players froze and we went on and won 3-1. I remember my brother getting up to walk out as he did we equalised and his immortal words 'too little too late' lol.

The London teams coming down in the late 60's -early 70's it was exciting just waiting to see the punch ups. It is impossible to discribe unless you were there. Just a row of policemen between the 2 sets of fans nd then it would go off.Wrong but it has great memories.

If I remember Heaney came off the bench and was a major contributor in this game.

Beating the Mancs for 3 years on the trot (at home), 3-1 in 95, 6-3 in 96 and 1-0 in 97 was a great hat trick of wins.

But I remember the cheer that went round the ground when Grobbelaar saved a Shearer pen in his (Bruce's) first game for us.

But for me the last league game at the Dell will be one I'll always remember. Beating Arsenal and that stunning last minute goal from MLT to clinch it. If you wrote that match into a script for a film people would rubbish it for being too unbelievable.

Many over the years. My first game as a kid under floodlights at the dell against a mighty Liverpool side sticks in my memory. Must have been around 1966 and I remember we scored early on and were under constant pressure for the rest of the game .. nail biting stuff and so exciting. Later on the League cup semi final leg at the dell when Terry Curran scored and I had a great view of the goal in the Milton. Also the Euro matches were special Marseille, Anderlecht, etc. The floodlit matches always seemed more special??
