Anyone else making the trip up to Old Trafford for the semi-final?

I wonder if Lancashire having to play a CC match this week will have a positive or negative effect? - or no effect at all!

Here's hoping for a day out at Lord's on July 25th!

Yeah, 8 of us driving up Saturday lunchtime. Looking forward to it although the weather forecast looks pretty grim, let's hope that they're as inaccurate as usual.

Also there is a plane load going up that Hants have organised and I know a few carloads driving up and back on the day so there will be a few of us there at least!

Trying to book my T20 1/4 final ticket as well but I think it's fair to say that the Northants ticket office consists of one person - I just got diverted through to David Capel's voicemail and he's their first team coach!

4 of us going u on Sunday, hotel booked looking forward to day on the beer, what's plan B if it rains all day?

Find a pub and watch Murray lose to Federer then stay in Manchester for the Monday where according to the forecast it will rain all day again!! Then hope/pray that Hampshire win the bowl-out/toss to see who goes through to the final.

That's what I'm planning on doing anyway.

Anyone know of any pubs in Southampton area definitely showing the game today?

Shouldn't be much competition (Federer-Roddick) but some pubs don't seem to like cricket very much and only pander to the football crowds.

Hants 271 all out off 48.3.

Dissapointing...we were 158-0 at one stage of about 23 overs!. I personally think we are about 40 runs short. I hoping that the rain has livened up the wicket & there may be a bit of spin so it could still be close.

Really frustrating performance from Hampshire. Great start from the openers, who both hit 70's. But after that nobody looked liked getting a score. Wickets fell regularly, boundaries dried up completely, and we really wasted the last power play. 271 is a good score, but it should have been much more given our early position and on such a flat pitch.

Is it a flat pitch?

Lancs 135-5 in over 33

They need nearly eight an over to win

It's looked quite flat for most of the day, hasn't really done much. A bit of extra bounce every now and then, but nothing major.

We've bowled much better overall, and the catching has been excellent. The two by Adams to get rid of Du Plessis and Laxman were top drawer.

I dont think I want KP in the side if we do get to the final

would KP be available & who would drop for him, personally I'd stick with the same team as today if all are fit

Yeah not sure if England would let him go anyway in the middle of the Ashes so that may be interesting. I reckon the majority of Hampshire fans would probably be happy for us to stick with the team that won today.

Wonder if Prior will play as it looks like Sussex are going to win

I suppose IF England let Prior play, then they would have to let us have KP. I'm in two minds about it really. It would be great to keep todays team intact...But if you replace Benham with KP thats a pretty powerful one day batting line-up.

Yep agree with this, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I'd much rather the ECB say they won't release the players.

Prior is a much bigger threat for Sussex in terms of the extra qualities he brings to their team above that of the player he'd replace than Pietersen would be for us.

We've been successful this season because we've had a largely settled side, particularly at the top of the order, and messing around with that to bring in someone just for the final who many would say is barely our player anyway would be a bad move on a number of counts, IMO.

If Pietersen were to end up in the team at Lord's, presumably it would be Dawson who would be left out - what might that do for his confidence? What would we do without the option of two spinners capable of bowling 10 overs apiece?

He's played in both of the finals we've been in recently, and barely contributed with the bat - 5 off 10 balls in 2005 and 12 off 26 in 2007.

are you suggesting KP should not play..?

Yes.

Why should he walk straight into the side for the final when it's been the performances of everyone apart from him who have got the team there in the first place, particularly when his mind is likely to be elsewhere?

I strongly suspect that the ECB will prevent him from playing anyway as it's sandwiched right between the second and third Ashes tests.

.. anyone any idea on what the position will be with tickets? love to go ..

On sale to members at 9am on Tuesday. If I remember rightly from last time, it was a maximum of 2 tickets per membership - I'd expect the same sort of thing again.

Most of the tickets were sold ages ago, don't know if the ECB have held any back to be sold to fans of either side who aren't members.

I got one last time (2007) as a non member close to the final (think it was on ticketmaster), I was sat up in the clouds.

great result. agree with most on here in that i thought we were probably 30-40 runs shy of what we should have got, but 271 was always going to be a tough ask.

as for the final, no KP shouldnt play but if he does i hope the management will pick him for the right reasons.

sussex i think will start as clear favorites, i so hope we turn them over. there's no county i dislike more than them. i blame Adams, all his fault. he was a smug tw*t who always did well against us, hopefully now he's gone we can stick it up 'em....

I think it's pretty much 50/50 as to who wins and the bookies agree with most pricing both teams at 10/11. Extrabet interestingly go with Lancs as 2/1 favourites smileyvault-unsure.gif

I don't think Prior or Pietersen will be available for the final and I would not pick KP anyway, the players yesterday did us proud and the team spirit was superb.

That's pretty ****-poor odds for a side that got knocked out in the semi-final.

Indeed but Sussex were 5/2 and Hants 3/1 ! I was tempted to back both but I know they would have used the "palpable error" rule to scupper that idea:(
