Overseas takeover

Wilbur Ross, the industrialist and investment banker who has homes in Southampton and Palm Beach, is at $1.7 billion.

Although this sounds good to us Southampton folk, I would have more of a suspicion that a rich billionaire based in New York would have a home in the USA Southampton millionaires resort area, rather than the original English one.

If you can indeed prove that he lives at this Southampton, that would add credence to linking his name, but I suspect you cannot.

Industrialist Ira Rennert, who built the 110,000-square-foot palace in Sagaponack, is on the list at $3.5 billion. Marc Rich, the wealthy Wall Streeter who lived in exile in Switzerland for 15 years to avoid an indictment until finally famously pardoned by President Bill Clinton, is at $1.5 billion. His ex-wife, Denise Rich, with whom he has remained friends through it all, has a house here.

Wilbur Ross, the industrialist and investment banker who has homes in Southampton and Palm Beach, is at $1.7 billion. Related's Stephen Ross, the skyscraper builder, is at $4.5 billion. And Vornado's Steven Roth, another skyscraper builder, is at $1.3 billion. Speaking of the letter R, there is no Rattiner on the list. There may have been one before, but if there was, he has dropped off.

Mr and Mrs Rich.

By the way, that'll be Southampton, USA, I expect.

Frankly I would consider it all p*** and wind........there has been so much sensationalism in the past few weeks and total tyrekickers who have sought their moments of notoriety on the back of this crisis.........this is probably just another hopeless thread that will come to zilch......just like the rest of them!

Southampton, in New York State's Hamptons. It has an amazing beach and does some great beer although lots of rules and regs on what you can and can't do. You have to be seriously minted to live there.

Isn't it known as "the Hayling Island of the Atlantic coast"? ;)

I haven't got the patience to trawl through this website to see if this has been linked elsewhere. But someone somewhere has linked 'multi-national Financial services company' with Aviva.

complete speculation no doubt but would it be their last resort? I'd imagine they don't want to own a football club but if the alternative is to see their millions flushed down the toilet and leaving them with a worthless stadium... then it wouldn't take that much of a leap?

All they'd have to do is pay Barclays, and Aviva spend more than that on sponsorship deals (fook knows how much they sponsor those yacht races for).

Lol! If only. Still, Hayling's coming into its own this warm summer although the Skates are bringing their cans of old wife beater on the beach at the weekends. Still, I've bumped into them all around their world so you can never escape them, here at least it is "their" area.

Their sensationalist b*llocks is much more accurate than your sensationalist b*llocks. Wrong every time, alpo.

Your continuing obsession with our fellow poster from Austria is hilarious.

If those close to you realised your infatuation i am sure they would be

a little worried for your well being.

Give it a rest!! Try and actually post something worthwhile...

Also, Marc Jackson is in today's Echo saying he has 2 new groups.

He's an odd one. - at least he has a hobby though. Wonder what club he'll try and take over next?

I wonder if he'll knock on Pompeys door when their deal falls through (that's what im hearing...)

The Echo have made a fortune the last couple of months from the fair people of Southampton by posting wilding oscillating slants on stories at SMS and hooking people in.

I've stopped reading the sensationalist b*llocks

You must be getting your retarded reactionary misinformation elsewhere then.

The Echo is not "making a fortune" out of anyone.

The local press nationally and internationally are one of the few industries more ****ed than lower league provisional football.

If the Echo printed nothing for two days in a row you'd be frothing like a ***** on here and you know it, and you used to slag off the OS for printing anodyne interviews with our managers.

Alpine in "just moan like a slag about everything" shocker.

Ain't that a fact!

I was visiting my Nan there at the weekend, went to the beach and I've never seen so many chavs.

It's like Basingstoke on sea.

Should go to West Wittering - better beach and better visitors - only one Chelsea tattoo all day

I hazzarded the guess that the International Financial services company might be Aviva, for exactly the reason that you have outlined, that they are the holders of our loan on the stadium. As you say, it is probably not them, but they do have some reason for considering it.

And if it came to pass, this from Saintalan is just brilliant:-

And we're off to see Southampton play

A Viva Southampton!

I've just had a call from my mates old man who was speaking to Wotte down at Hamble week tonight and Wotte was not overly forth coming with information but he did say that Mark Fry has give him all indications that a takeover will be completed and announced by the weekend and hinted quite heavily that Red Bull have something to do with it.

My mates old man felt that Wotte was trying to give off the impression that he never knew a great deal but reckoned (and understandably so) he knows a great deal more but didn't want to say too much.

Sounds positive but their's always doom & gloom around the corner.

That's not actually cynical, more realistic! LMAO

Sadly true if you're to believe history. I'm adopting this outlook, then maybe I'll be proved wrong. Reverse "sod's law". Worth a try. Won't say anymore or it'll ruin it. Expect the worst, then you'll never be disappointed!:(

Any idea how he was giving 'hints' about Red Bull....?

Was it like a game of charades where he stood up and put his fingers to his head, scuffed his right foot whilst making deep mooing noises and slowly going red in the face.....or was it less subtle than that?

cheers

(p.s. there's actually a serious question in there somewhere!)

Maybe all night Wotte was drinking Red Bull?

We will know if we see a picture of him tomorrow looking tired as f**k

Also, how can someone not be forthcoming with info, yet still hint heavily?

and he has a saints link

Yeah, Nick Leeson has a Saints link but if you said "that" name, you only speak "that" name to yourself, thousands of miles from Southampton & civilization and then only spoken as a mere whisper. Do not forget, when you say "that" name, a kitten and a puppy die!

sorry guys can't tell you anymore than what i posted above but i said i'd ring him tomorrow about something else so i'll question him a bit more then.

Saint stevo in reply to your final statement i can only think that he (Wotte) has obviously answered the questions that my mates dad posed but rather than giving solid definite answers to a fan i can only assume they were answered giving reassurances with a bit more foundation as they are coming from someone who should know what's going on but obviously can't say too much.

And Trousers I don't know how the Red Bull bit come about, maybe wotte bought my mates dad a Vodka and .......

Todays Echo is a more positive read

Potential foreign owners (not Swiss) in late night talks (worldwide financial services group).

Last remains of due diligence being completed, lawyers finalising contracts.

In the background, plans were being mapped out for their first days and weeks in charge so they can hit the ground running.

The Swiss one is a one wealthy person industrialist.

I think Zurich are a Swiss company?

Worldwide financial group?

Putting 2+2 together here.

Wotte's always like that. He knows how to feed tit bits but only says what you wanna hear. Nothing too revealing. Football manager's must be well honed at this. Especially with our past Chairman being the king of b*llsh*t, plenty to learn from.

Now I know you're lying. Wotte's a bit tight with the rounds! Still owes me a beer after he had a few free G&T from our kindly lot before leaving on his round. He earns how much a week? Pah!!

Stuff the guessing, we all know we're about to be taken over by an ex Skate and Spud. He was seen at SMS WAY back in the early days before Sales Packs but at the time of 30+ bidders and NDA's.

The only interesting thing is will he bring Ossie with him
