bjk Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 It's something I've wondered since they came on the scene.Just like Pinnacles mystery multi millionaire, nobodys got a clue who they are,and I fear this is because, just like Pinnacles mystery multi millionaire they don't actually bloody exist and were made up by Fry to hurry Pinnacle along.I hope I'm wrong,I usually am.

Who knows, but Fry was persuaded at least 10 days ago that they were a better bet than Pinnacle, well before the Fialka fiasco. Theres got to be something substantial to them.
Fan The Flames Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 The only evidence so far is from a dog walker who spotted four people, one a fit lady with nice tanned legs, in white suits getting out of a silver Range Rover with Swiss plates (from the Zurich region I believe) in the car park at SMS the other day.
ITKSaint Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 There's really nothing to confirm either way. If they do exist, they were considered second best to the Pinnacle bid and if they don't exist, well.. There's been nothing I've seen in the press from any other potential bidders (discounting Jackson) , which means nothing in itself but does nothing for the heart rate. Ultra professionals, non-existents or flaky groupings - take your pick.
buctootim Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 There's really nothing to confirm either way. If they do exist, they were considered second best to the Pinnacle bid and if they don't exist, well.. . Arguably they were only the second choice because Pinnacle promised more in the long run - but of course that means nothing if you dont deliver on your promises.
bjk Posted 30 June, 2009 Author Posted 30 June, 2009 I guess we'll know by Friday.Solent did say they have substantial wealth but I don't believe anything anymore,we've heard so much rubbish.
gonzo Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 In answer to the question, I ****ing hope so. They're the only hope we have left.
mrlibertine Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Could they be the same swiss group who were laughed out of fratton park with there offer to buy pompey? Ramon Vega was fronting them I think?
buctootim Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 (edited) Could they be the same swiss group who were laughed out of fratton park with there offer to buy pompey? Ramon Vega was fronting them I think? Hope not. The irony (imo) is that the Pinnacle group appear to have borrowed Vega's plan - ie I'll buy the club for £1 and pay off the creditors out of my massive profits when I get to the Champions League (exaggerated to make the point). shurlock Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 Be careful what you wish for - too much of that thinking and we'll have people posting chummy messages or mystery moneyment coming out on SSN next...
homesick-saint Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 Vinicio Fioranelli Could be the Swiss version of Marc Jackson, a deluded attention seeker, but this is the name that is being bandied about. Claims to front a consortium with Swiss, Arab and German backers. But who knows?
offix Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 If they don't exist, then by Friday Saints won't exist.

buctootim Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 On what basis do you say that, are you itk or just making it up? On the basis of Fry's statement. Special K Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 I know this is a "my mate's dog" type story, but without giving too much away i work with a guy who is good mates with David Jones. He says the Swiss group are very much real but after Pinnacle got exclusivity, wasn't sure if they were still interested. Apparently they were very professional. That's the last i heard if it is any use. Let's hope they still are interested.
sussexsaint Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 I think there is no longer interest from the Swiss ?????????????????????????????????????????????? WTF where did this info come from??????

HTH The Swiss are there & have serious money (billions rather than millions) if what i have been told by what should be a very reliable source is true.

saints_is_the_south Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 All I know is they employ over 7,000 people and have an empire worth Billions. Just as i have been told. They made a profit of over €1bln last year & apparently the interest made on the owners' personal fortune would be enough to cover the running of Saints,.

Weston Super Saint Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 The Swiss have lots of money deposited in the 1940s by some Germans on behalf of the Jewish community Oh noes, don't bring up Fialka again
St Lightjaw Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 getting out of a silver Range Rover with Swiss plates (from the Zurich region I believe) Silly question probably, buy why bring a car all the way from Switzerland? Why not just get on a plane and taxi the rest? I wouldn't take my car to Switzerland .... no matter how much money I had. More comfy ways to travel imho!
OldNick Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 I think there is no longer interest from the Swisswhere did you get that from then Gaffer? If they are gone surely it is curtains, surely not another foreign group

Weston Super Saint Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 they may get picked up from a Swiss resident who lives here. Not a good sign if they can't afford a taxi fare

I wouldn't take my car to Switzerland .... no matter how much money I had. More comfy ways to travel imho! Good point. Maybe top gear have something to do with it? I think they just missed out to Pinnacle because of the traffic on the Avenue. Clarkson was really upset as Hamster ran through the door with TL and the Jewish guy from Barnet, whose name I can't spell.
OldNick Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 Not a good sign if they can't afford a taxi fare have you been in a local taxi??? a choice of personally being carted around in a range rover or squeezed into a ford sierra that has only just had the voimit cleaned up from last nights pickups from Reflex etc. I think I would be more worried if they had hailed a cab.

Barry the Badger Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 On the basis of Fry's statement. Fry stated he opened serious negotitations with other bidders as soon as Pinnacle's exclusivity expired 10 days ago - indicating he knew sometime before that Pinnacle werent going anywhere. I think you're reading too much into it, Fry had a duty to reopen negotiations once the exclusivity ended, doesn't mean he knew Pinnacle were going to fail. It would have been foolish not to do so even if he thought Pinnacle were nailed on certainties.
buctootim Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 I think you're reading too much into it, Fry had a duty to reopen negotiations once the exclusivity ended, doesn't mean he knew Pinnacle were going to fail. It would have been foolish not to do so even if he thought Pinnacle were nailed on certainties. All down to personal takes - but as Pinnacle offered the most if Fry thought still thought they had a viable chance of being successful he would have extended the exclusivity period imo.
