Guided Missile Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Ted waving goodbye to Tony Lynam You have to laugh, don't you? What a f***ing football club.....

the colonel Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 GM have you receive any further correspondence from TL as away of an apology? Will he have the grace to? As you did.
John B Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Everytime i think it cant get any worse,it does. I thought one day it would get better but you are right it does not.

Windmill Arm 2 Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 GM as much as you are enjoying this, please keep it to yourself you vile skate pr1ck!
CB Fry Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Pinnacle was a Ted Bates statue of a consortium though. Full of good intention, people giving progress reports about how great it was all looking, massive anticipation, supported by leading figures from the club's past. But when it came to the crunch turned out to be total cowplop. And a national embarrassment. That statue is still hilarious, though.
Colinjb Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 For once, I completely agree with you. Might as well laugh...... 'The whole thing's daft, I don't know why, you have to laugh...... or else you'd....'
Arizona Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 I never thought I'd see a Ted Bates statue thread which isn't funny, but here we are...
aberdare Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 GM as much as you are enjoying this, please keep it to yourself you vile skate pr1ck! Skates would probably have been running stories that a deal was about to go through only then to pull out at the last minute.......bit like Lynam and Le Tissier really..... One may just have been an innocent victim out of his depth in corporate lingo bingo, which one that was I think is open to debate.
StuRomseySaint Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Ted Bates Statue Ali Dia Harry Redknapp Pinnacle Paul Allen Various occasions of being 'Giant Killed' Points Deductions Stoneham Rupert Lowe Michael Wildes Takeover Our final 3 attendances last season The 'all-stars match' fiasco Relegation from the PL Relegation from the Championship -10 in League 1 King Keegans return Meh..... to name but a few.... they say you can't pick your club.... if only that wasn't true.
Guided Missile Posted 30 June, 2009 Author Posted 30 June, 2009 .... they say you can't pick your club.... if only that wasn't true. The club picks you, Stu, as you well know. I wish I'd had enough sense to boycott the last couple of seasons, but I'm like a moth to a flame. Let's hope this mug will be able to buy another season ticket. How about you? Had enough yet?

Is it wrong for me to have actually wanted an end to all this so I can feel free to find another team that isn't so sodding rediculous?

I still ****ing love the club and will always do. You cannot make it up I know, that statue sums us up! LAUGHABLE!
fish fingers Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 no matter how bad things get we'll always have the statue. Priceless.
the colonel Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 He's having dinner with me tomorrow night.... If only he would turn up we might find out some of the truth behind all this!
ooohTerryHurlock Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 no matter how bad things get we'll always have the statue. Priceless. Poor Ted.... I'm sure the ground is moving!
chrisobee Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 no matter how bad things get we'll always have the statue. Priceless. There are some things money can't buy, seems we are one of them !
Dark Munster Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 A delighted Mad Milan waving goodbye to SFC I've corrected the caption for you, GM. And why do I get that nagging suspicion that MM is somehow behind all of this?
chrisobee Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Now I'm not sure of anything any more, think I'm virtually brain dead ( well more so than usual.) Is that the original statue or the replacement !?? Or indeed did I just make up that the original statue was removed
miserableoldgit Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Is it wrong for me to have actually wanted an end to all this so I can feel free to find another team that isn't so sodding rediculous? Of course it bloody is!!

yorkie Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Is the going to be a wake arranged to mourn the loss of our once great club? Any excuse for a ****** up!

May as well chuck Stuart Gray Steve Wigley David Howells in goal at Charlton Tranmere FA Cup Stockport league cup hammering at FP last time we played them Lost everytime on sky last season Jan Portvleet Lest we forget: Sir Clive Woodward (though I still think that might have worked, just the wrong time) Simon Clifford The Eye coach
graymalkin33 Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 GM as much as you are enjoying this, please keep it to yourself you vile skate pr1ck! Agreed. TL owes no apology, as GM's apology was actually not an apology at all.

And that statue still makes me crack up everytime I see it. Is it still alive? It would raise a fortune if auctioned.
chrisobee Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Is it wrong for me to have actually wanted an end to all this so I can feel free to find another team that isn't so sodding rediculous? Well I can only speak for myself and say I support Saints or nobody, end of.
chrisobee Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Agreed. And that statue still makes me crack up everytime I see it. Is it still alive? It would raise a fortune if auctioned. I suspect someone melted it down and retired somewhere hot on the proceeds !!
AwaySaint1 Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 they say you can't pick your club.... if only that wasn't true. Yes you can. I have had it with this lot. I AM OFF TO SUPPORT LUTON TOWN...
buctootim Posted 30 June, 2009 Posted 30 June, 2009 Agreed. And that statue still makes me crack up everytime I see it. Is it still alive? It would raise a fortune if auctioned. I suspect someone melted it down and retired somewhere hot on the proceeds !! Not quite as good as Ted's statue, but it always reminds of Brighton's own disaster with Steve Ovett. "During the nineties it was subjected to numerous humiliations by pranksters who stuck an Alf Garnett moustache on it, covered it in a woolly jumper and dressed it as a schoolgirl". http://arbroath.blogspot.com/2007/09/thief-runs-off-with-steve-ovett-statue.html
Lets B Avenue Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 Is the going to be a wake arranged to mourn the loss of our once great club? Any excuse for a ****** up! No. Someone might wear a Saints shirt and sing about P***pey. That would only upset Dulldays.

That statue is horrendous and someone stole it ??? Probably Ovett himself!
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 Is the going to be a wake arranged to mourn the loss of our once great club? Any excuse for a ****** up! Yeh! I know, let's all go to Weymouth! Are you going to arrange it Del daze?
sadoldgit Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 People on here give people like GM and Jonah an awful lot of stick, but guess what, they are usually right. They don't get fooled by all the hype as most fans do time and time again. Give them grief if you want, but next time someone wants to take over this club, look very hard at what they have to say. It is all very well shooting the messenger, but sometimes you need to listen to what the messenger has to say before pulling the trigger!!!
fareham saint phil Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 Hes getting grief off me not for anything other than taking delight in our current position, the stance of "you've got to laugh" is one i dont share as i see nothing to laugh about with the club ive watched for over 45 years about to disappear. I did look hard at what he said above and dont find anything of anything other than taking the **** so im happy to stand by my comment of guided missile your a ****ing knob
slickmick Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 He's having me for dinner tomorrow night.... There fixed it for you. Don't forget the Chianti.
The9 Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 I never thought I'd see a Ted Bates statue thread which isn't funny, but here we are... That was exactly what I thought.
saint1977 Posted 1 July, 2009 Posted 1 July, 2009 (edited) People on here give people like GM and Jonah an awful lot of stick, but guess what, they are usually right. They don't get fooled by all the hype as most fans do time and time again. Give them grief if you want, but next time someone wants to take over this club, look very hard at what they have to say. It is all very well shooting the messenger, but sometimes you need to listen to what the messenger has to say before pulling the trigger!!! I would agree with that except for the fact that they were taken in by Lowe and Wilde last season (and there was plenty of hype there). They were also taken in when Lowe had clearly lost his marbles before that (SCW circus post-relegation) so I wouldn't be too quick to gloat if I were them. I had my doubts about Pinnacle I have to say, not least with Leon involved and whilst his heart is in the right place, Tommac showed that his judgement is missing. However, like everyone on here (Jonah & GM included) I wanted it to be genuine without really believing deep down that it was. We are where we are now and we all just have to hope that one of these consortia remaining does the business. Thank you Guy Askham for creating this mess in the first place. This post isn't meant to be a pop at anyone (bar Askham), there's been enough division on this board already, I just hope a buyer comes in and frankly the boardroom plays second fiddle to the team again.
