he couldn't be assed to move on and get into a good side. Which was great for us but it cost him half his potential.

So who do you feel bad for then ? Chelsea, Spurs or any other club that would have wanted him, thats strange logic, their loss our gain but you want to knock him for it, loyalty to a club = couldn't be assed

All got messy in the end and all that MLT has found out is that he has been duped and made a mug of!!

I was involved in the fiasco's at the proposed AFCB buyouts a year ago, when there was all sort of a manner of fantasist (Jackson included) and they were all full of themselves and not actually what they appreared to be i.e. businessmen with serious money and intentions!

I knew it would all go 'Pete Tong' when I saw that bloke on TV last Friday and it was a flashback to a year ago, when groups did their press conferences and then fell away as they were found out as frauds an in it for the ego rush!

What a feckin mess we are in!

No Skate, it was a bit of a tongue in cheek comment about Le Tiss who will always be a "hero" in my books. However I feel he may have been embarassed as to what he got himself involved in and did not distant himself from them quick enough. In time I expect to hear Le Tiss saying he wished he never got involved with these ****S!

Are you two Skates ? fail to understand why any Saint, even today in what is a very dark day for our club, could possibly abuse in this manner one of our greatest players ?

Why not wait until all the facts are presented before you start cntin him off, you should be ashamed of yourselves

Ashamed?? Don`t tell me how i should feel about him or the Pinnacle Group you Fringe... They`re all Complete and Utter time wasting C**ts IMO.

As for being a Skate.... I`ve Been watching Saints since 1970 so thats that theory out the window sunshine!!

'I smell a Skate' J lol

Fancy having ago at this lot, never....they were banging on about being ashamed of the Wymouth trip yesterday and us (I mean them) having a good time and rubbing the good name of SFC in the gutter!!

Some live in a life of 'fluffy clouds and everything/one is nice'!!

Didn't quote anything you said about the Pinnacle group, not trying to "tell" you how to feel, simply fail to understand how a Saints fan would want to abuse him in that way without knowledge of the facts, as for a theory ? based on your post I speculated that you MUST be a skate, I was wrong you are simply ignorant, I too maybe guilty of the same as I don't know whether I should be offended by being called "Fringe" with a capital F

I am sorry Matt is guilty of being naive. I told him on Saturday morning that Pinnacle were frauds and duping him but he shouted me down and would not listen.

My favourite ever Saints player but he did not do his homework. Nor have others imo.

If what you say is true then what in your opinion were they hoping to achieve (or have achieved) My best guess is that initialy the money was there but when the money walked Lynam was left with the "dud". I think he gambled on MLT name/Keegan rumours being enough to entice the real money back in. If it is true that LC stumped up £500K then I am stunned. Also does this mean that LC is not part of the rumoured Salz "if all else fails" rescue package? or is that just a rumour.

Matt was one of the most gifted, loyal players to grace ANY club, let alone ours. I know people are a frustrated, but I can assure you this; anyone who was seriously interested in our club are in an infinitely better position now than they were 21 days ago. The pressure is on and the price has dropped. IF anyone else is seriously interested they will not have gone away. I am talking from personal experience, but this is common business sense.

As for slagging Le Tiss off - disgraceful behaviour from a minority of muppets amongst our fan base. How many other ex-players (some of which have gone on to be seriously wealthy) have stepped in to try and help our club which (for some reason) very few people are interested in buying?

The man is a legend and done his very best, which more than satisfies me.

I'll never forget what you have done FOR this once great club, but unfortunately what you (by no means completely to blame) have done TO this great club.

I'll never forget THAT goal against Arsenal at The Dell.

Pure Genius on the field - but mis-led off it, perhaps?

I think you'll find Messrs Lowe, Wilde, Crouch et al have done more damage to Saints than MLT or Tony Lynam have ever done, after all, no-one is exactly queueing up to buy us are they?!?!

Some of you lot need to take a serious reality check !!

Posted

Matt if you're reading this chin up mate. I know you must be feeling gutted for letting us down, but don't. You will always be our legend.

I can't believe how many people on here are judging Matt, and accusing him of being naive, when NO ONE knows the facts, or any facts at all about what went on. Gossip and guesswork means that you all know better than him?

Only numpties rush in to judge without knowing the full facts.

I say fair play to the man for dong whatever he could to help.Let's hope he gets another chance to be involved soon.

How's that? They got through proof of funds didn't they? No other bid is going to be successful. All this blame of Pinnacle or MLT is just letting the league off the hook yet again. Why would the money behind Pinnacle agree to -25 points? It makes a mockery of the bid. They expected -10 with a chance of appeal, fair enough, but -25? It just wouldn't be an investable proposition. I'm sure MLT and others tried to persuade them to invest anyway, but there's only so long they could fight the FL sadly.

Adrian, where is the evidence that the league were to impose a -25 deduction? Has this been factually stated anywhere at all as I cannot recall seeing it..

Agreed, I guess I should not be surprised anymore by anything posted on this board but some of the comments are way beyond contemptible. If anyone seriously thinks MLT would do anything other than try to help the club then they are deluded IMO. Who knows what happened throughout the course of this bid. At worst Matt is guilty of being naive but without knowing the full facts ( which NO ONE on here does) then it's down to guesswork and personal interpretation and I really feel ashamed that so called Saints fans resort to slagging off someone like Le Tissier. At least he had the guts to try to do something and by allowing his name to be used setting himself up for exactly this.

Posted

Matt your failure today is why I didn't want you involved.....I didn't want you to be tainted by failure and become what hoddle became at spurs.

It doesn't change my loyal opinion of you,the memories are always there.

Posted

Well Matt you will always be one of the greatest if not the greatest player the club has had. But why did the allow yourself to taken in by these chancers.

Posted

The only thing Le Tiss is guilty of is trying to save our club. He was always my hero growing up and he will remain a hero of mine forever.

I can't help but think that Le Tiss was used to get the fans on side, and maybe he was a bit naive but I don't blame him at all.

IF, and it's a big if, we do get taken over, I hope that the new owners can find a place for MLT in their set-up.

Thanks for trying but steer well clear of dubious business advice in future.

i.e. Mike Osman (Celebration Plaza) , Tony Lienam (Pinnacle).

Seems to me that several of the worst posts are by "TheMidfieldGeneral" who apparently has been "watching" Saints since 1970, I assume that is not the same as supporting them. It's very rare I get stirred enough to single out individuals but to you TMG ( and anyone else who shares his disgraceful views) I'll put it politely and say go away, you are not wanted on here.

All those years he stayed loyal to us and this is how some so called fans repay his loyalty. It's disgusting, embarassing and most of all very sad.

Whatever, Channon, Keegan,Ball,Osgood,Shilton and many other were better players than MLT,If there's a man who should be elevated to god-like status at SFC it's Channon, MLT is not even second in my list. Still many of you don't rember Micky C so what can you expect. Did MC feel the necessity to get involved in all this bollax? no he has a career other than football. If he had Pinnacle wouldn't have got past a pint in some Newbury pub cos Micky, well if you're a bullsh*tter, he tells you so.

Prove it then.

How on earth do you get a CVA when you're not in administration? So you have to accept -25. As usual some on here need simplicity and easy blame, but how can anyone invest in a club that's going to be on -25 points in league 1?

How the hell have they "screwed us"? What bids did they prevent? If anyone else was interested in buying the club, had the money and didn't mind the points deductions and FL rulings, they would still be buying the club.

Whatever Pinnacle have or haven't done, they were merely a last hope, not a cause of our end.

I have never seen this as anything other than speculation. Have you any proof that this is true?

One could may be question his judgement here but never his motives. He is not only a legendary player but is also a fan of the club and Matt like the rest of us, wants to see a successful conclusion to this everlasting take-over saga.

My Boyhood Hero but feel you let me down a bit today, you must have seen this coming a few days ago and could have pulled the plug to let someone else have a few more days to buy us.

You HAVE to take some responsibility as you would have taken some credit if it had been a successful venture.

RIP Saints

Don't listen to this absolute tool! You can do no wrong in mine and 99.999999999% of Saints fans eyes. You, sir, are a one in a million, and I know it has been said already by other posters, but you are more than welcome to have a go on my missus.

Actually I remember all the players listed and many more having supported Saints since 1966. All those mentioned are great players and I'm particularly a fan of Micky Channon who was and is such a great down to earth character and has done so well as a Race horse trainer. However, all those mentioned were surrounded by other quality players and not one of them was :

a) As Loyal as MLT

b) Saved us almost single handedly more than once.

c) Anywhere close in terms of sheer skill ( IMO albeit)

In fact great player though Keegan was I still recall him promising to stay for one more season then promptly leaving for Newcastle.I also recall Shilton leaving unexpectedly. In fact the only one I'd mention in the same breath as MLT is Micky Channon who was also very loyal, only leaving after we failed to get promoted in 1976/77 and of course returned for another successful period. So listing names of great players who played for Saints is easy to do but not so easy to justify their status as Saints legends.

Whatever one's view of Matt's role in this aborted takeover bid, I do hope that they will not confuse his judgement with his passion and his motives !

I am certain that tonight he is eating up inside with genuine anguish and more than likely won't sleep a wink !

The situation unfolded over weeks, it went from hope and anticipation to frustration and (ultimately) grief but anyone who questions his dedication to the cause is completely deluded and has no understanding of what the man is all about !

I beg you please to get off his back and support the cause that (he and) we all hold dear !

MLT has nothing to be ashamed of. I dont think he shouold ask for people to give TL and co slack though as not only have they messed around and cost the club money paying the administrator but also duped our hero.

People say things they don't mean in the heat of the moment - there's a lot of hot, angry Saints fans around today.

I think there is an over reaction here and you are being very naive if you think starting a positive thread on a day like today is going to happen.

I for one would agree with anyone who says that Matt's judgement in this should be seriously questioned however maybe he will come out eventually and let us know why he believed in Pinnacle.

However, some of the posters here should not be personally insulting Matt (absolutely no need for it and its bang out of order), I have no doubt that he had the best interests at heart, if he was duped, then he ain't much different to most of us and an executive administrator.

Posted

I wont say bad things about Matt as he does not deserve them. Tony and his friend Fialka tricked him (or conned if you will) into believing they had a backer who had money who would offer him the chairmanship position. They tricked us all and im sure they are both down the pub ****ing themselves about how gullable we have all been.

Matt always did and always will act with his heart towards Southampton. If there was just 1% that something could come of the Pinnacle deal that could save Saints then we would all do it and that is what Matt did. It was not his fault it was not a real bid.
